My Dad was at a briefing Atlanta, he is a military coummunications guy, and heard a briefing on new military exoskeletons. The videos he saw still showed power cords ,but by next year there will be three functioning models. One is the transport model. This will alow a single soldier to carry 200-250 pounds of gear and walk like he has no gear on. A medic model will alow someone to carry a wounded soldier. Finally, the armor model would let you break through doors and stand about 30 armor piercing bullets. These are made by the Sarcos company, but aren't on their website due to it being kind of secretive. Here are some links. Their website. An article on them.

(On a sidenote) He listened to a professor talk about how important the video game industry. This proffesor mentioned that Halo 2 out sold Spiderman 2 by nearly 50 million dollars.

"My knee is bleeding, can I have a bandaid?" "Today its your knee, and in 10 years it'll be your wrists, why are you making this my problem?"

Do this again and I'll brand your ass with the banning prod

The Military is getting inspired by games. Interesting. Would be fun to see MJOLNIR armor in the near future.

Not going to happen any time soon. It's too expensive.

Just look at the economic superpower America - our main battle armament is out of date.

Actually, they want 100 suits of each by next year. So, it will be here soon.

Some of it, yeah. But we're still researching new technology all the time. In the 60's my Grandpa worked in the military, and lived on a military base with my Mom. One time they were driving along when a stealth fighter passed over their car. My Mom screamed, "what was that!", and my Grandpa just smiled and didn't say anything. She didn't find out what it was until years later.

MORAL OF THE STORY:The Government most likely doesn't publically announce it's technology until it is obsolete or other countries know about them.

Unless it's vital, of course.

The US military is very concerned with money. They buy products from the lowest bidder. They have the technologies to have much better equiptment, but they often don't because it's too expensive.

Well, the military is going differently on this one. I bet that they think they could pit 10 men against 100 and have 1 casualty. Think about it. This may be some of the most important technology ever.

Devil is Double is Deuce and Joker always trumps Deuce.

Obbi is right. Some of our troops in Iraq are using leftover equipment from The Korean War! My grandfather fought in that war.

Well, Dad walked in and he said that the price will go down soon on these suits due to mass production.

Or it'll be for special troops. The more elite US troops have better 'stuff' than normal infantry. I suspect that the military is purchasing the 100 copies to train and test out what can be accomplished with them. Only if they deem it a huge benefit (in other words, something that'll save them money in the long run) will they actually purchase them. And even then, I doubt you'll see standard infantry sporting them.

Obbi, for a little I imagine only the special forces using them, but in a few years the mass production price actually will be low.

Well that depends on what the suits are made of, and how much it costs to make them.

-EDIT- Sorry, really dumb question.

I think that the special forces will easily be able to use these. One of the things that the armor one would be used for is hostage missions. They would break through the door, grab the hostage and break out. It would be able to withstand enough bullets so they can get out in time.

I was watching a prgram on things like these not too long ago. The suits I saw though, were only CGI, and theoretic. They did, however, resemble ODST drop suits...

That isn't any of them. They aren't listed on the main site as it is still classified.

its classified. So you are posting about their existence in a public forum that anyone could see.

they're also working on a reactive camo that not only changes to the best pattern for the terrain but also tightens around wounds to stop blood loss and also assists the wearers movement making it take longer to get tired and increases his strength to allow him to run faster and jump higher.

I normally don't talk gamer but here's my best try.
