the history, learning and discovery channels are all part of the discovery channell networks so they might share shows and when you think of it making a thouroghly-researched combat system (as opposed to one element at a time) in only 6 years is pretty quick plus it's designed to be easy to improve for many years.

Exoskeletons weighing 200 pounds? That sounds like quite a bit and sounds very expensive. You say it'll be cheap in the near future? You mean like the motorola's american GI's are having to buy in Iraq? It sounds far too expensive and most likely very fragile against the enviormental factors like sand, mud etc. Marching in isn't a very good idea if it can only take 20 armor piercing bullets. Btw, from what weapon? An AK47 can punch through a concrete brick at a fairly long distance. An M16 can't.

Honestly, we already have a weapon that can put 10 against 100 and only loose one, actually we seldom loose anything. They're called airplanes with bombs. They're not very precise but they kill people.

smart bombs can be dropped down an air shaft, that's pretty precise.
plus NATO doesn't like to use ammo that might maim someone like the ammo an AK-47 or AK-74 uses they want a happy balance between outright killing them or wounding them enough to stop fighting, plus lighter ammo is easier on the troops.

First of all, they let you carry 200-250 pounds. They are weather and environmentally resistant and can take around 30 rounds from a 30 calibur armor piercing weapon. That is better than any armor that a man can wear that is around.

*looks at Iraq* the bombs didn't hit too presice there. As for the armor, how on earth are they going to do that? It sounds like it'll have to be airtight which sounds pretty much like suicide. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea but with today's technology I see alot lacking to make such things possible. It's like that chemical that bends light, was supposed to make stealthy units. They were supposed to be done around the early 90's and they're still no further.

Besides, how would you move around? The most powerful protection we have is various metals and they're pretty heavy. And as for loosing less troops, with the cost of such an armor you'll likely be able to equip less troops so it'll even out pretty much. It would be awesome if they could pull it off in the next 50 years or so though.

PS: NATO snipers use ammo that maims people to draw in the medics and finish those off as well. But why would what NATO use matters? NATO uses lots of stuff since almost every country has its own weapons. Besides, why test those? You should be testing the number one terrorist hand weapon, the AK47.

They have working versions. They need to tweak a few things and put a power pack on and they are done.

Well, despite my doubts, I'm looking forward to any updates. I try to keep an open mind about most things, though sceptical ;)

Damnit Toast look at the websites. I am not giving anything away by saying what they can do, but I might if I described it.

Toast, my dad saw a briefing on these. Go to google and type in, "sarcos military exoskeletons." You will find much more about it.

What other implications could these exoskeletons have? My first thought is loading things. [Flashback of power loader from Aliens.]

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

You could use it to melee someone to death. If you sucked, you could use it to pick up chicks. You could be like the worlds first super hero, with chicks. I'd rather have a super weapon.

I've spoken with a lot of servicemen. 90% of them have had nothing but bad things to say about M-16's.

Well probably not compared to the early production SA80. Supposedly ironed them out by now though.
