Hey dumbass, they pretty much explicitly stated that weapons would be on a screwed up timer. What does this have to do with forge? Well i want my weapons to be on a set timer, i hoped bungie would put this in seeing as how probably one of the largest problems with their matchmaking system was that they started you with a -blam!- weapon that was not capable of jack -blam!- and if the other team got a power weapon first it was over because there was no way of knowing when it would respawn. Well if bungie wants that bull-blam!- in matchmaking then fine, but i want to play in a fair game. Forge wont let us change that so it renders the weapon respawn timer almost useless. Who cares how long a weapon is going to take to respawn when only one team knows when it will come back anyway? They can wait all day because odds are that they took map control with that powerweapon and will probably have the ability to gain access to that weapon again or catch the other team while they are camping trying to grab it themselves at the wrong time.
I want the game to be fair. Forge sounds great, but i want the factors of the game that we have no control over not to be broken right out of the box. The fact that bungie has ignored the issue of weapon spawns is completely ridiculous and anyone who has ever played any other competitive shooter will agree. Dont fix what isnt broken. H1's spawn timers were not broken and bungie -blam!- them up in h2 along with a list of other things that werent broken.
Bungie can try to woo over people with fantastic extra features in their game but if the basics are not addressed then what is the point? I like the fact that we can fix all of bungie's mistakes on every map now. However, it would be lovely if bungie could at least fix their own problems. These are problems that will affect the longevity of the game, and i would hope bungie would be smart enough to realize it. Why did h1 last 3+ years whereas h2 lasted only half a year? Its the little things that count. Do the basics right then focus on the more advanced features. Bungie likes to skip the basics alltogether.
I have not played anything more than the beta as of yet, and i am currently looking forward to finishing the halo storyline. I do support bungie because they have proved to be a quality developer in the past, but i think that they have had a lapse in concentration with h2. Im hoping they get back on track and they have my half-vote of confidence. Here's to hoping h3 is 2 for 3 for bungie.
Dude, chill. The Forge-edited maps will pretty much be exclusive to CUSTOM games. Bungie said they might feature some fav map variants in Matchmaking, and chances are they'll be unranked anyway. And it was even said (in the latest update) that you don't have to change a thing and leave maps at their default settings. It's supposed to add a little fun and flavor to the multiplayer experience, mainly between XBL friends.
Bungie has my back and I am confident that I'll find some good usage of the Forge. ONE WEEK!
