Slaying noobs since 2007.

I'm sorry, but I have to say a few things about this. First, you really didn't have to make a topic about this. Secondly, you could have used the search function for your question, or even better, the stickies. Third, even though I used to be incredibly harsh to people that used to post these kind of topics, I feel you get the picture, so I'm glad you enjoy it. And, welcome to the community.

The full game is really expensive now; it's definitely worth the buy. Halo PC and Halo CE has a pretty big online community to play with. You can also get modded single player maps to run in Halo CE with Halo 2 weaponry. There's lots of stuff you can do. So yeah, Halo is cool.

There's only one thing to buy so you can't mistake your purchase. Buy Halo PC and then download for free Halo Custom Edition to play user created maps. (You need the CD key from your purchase of Halo PC to use Halo Custom Edition though) Halo Custom Edition is multiplayer-only and doesn't feature the campaign mission which drastically reduces the size of the file. I believe it's about 170MB. Once you have that you can switch between playing Halo PC for the campaign and multiplayer or launch Halo Custom Edition simply for the multiplayer with the added bonus of playing custom maps. Keep in mind that the community for Halo Custom Edition is much smaller than that of Halo PC and you have to manually download custom maps from halomaps.org and extract them directly to the maps folder in the Halo directory. And there are hundreds of custom maps but only a handful that people play.

Halo Combat Evolved, for some reason people avoid calling it halo 1.

Or he could mean Halo Custom Edition, which is an update that makes Halo pc A LOT better

There are 1000s of different people who play halo daily, and names aren't really connected to PCs/accounts anyway. I know posting that made you feel good, so I congratulate you, but really that was really pointless.

Halo is inexpensive, not expensive these days. Patches are fairly straightforward, though manual patching may be required as halo sometimes acts stupidly.
