The cut scenes are the games engine. They look the same as the gameplay, but graphics are dumbed down a bit in multi player.

yea dont worry about it man, cause there not even done with the game yet and for most of the pictures, the features were turned off, and if u think about that, there pretty damn good for not even having the game finished yet, the graphics will be the best created most ikely

When we first saw the Halo 2 Trailer it was in all its glory. But it was a cut scene. Now I don't need to define cut scene but when a game has one it seems to be more detailed. It has different camera angles and will focus on one thing leaving others out of focus. That is was I think is going on here.

It may have been a cutscene but I don't need to define the world real time to you. At the intro it definitly was a cutscene but when Master Chief pulls out guns and starts shooting it's real time. Sure Multiplayer's graphics probably will be dumbed down but I'm sure it won't be very noticable unless your looking for it directly just to scorn the game.

First off, these new MP screens we've seen do not have all the graphical features turned on.

Second, I doubt that MP will look as good at SP. I don't think it'll have the self-shadowing that we'll see in the campaign.

*********IMPORTANT NOTE*********
Some of you guys say that bungie maybe truned som the graphical features of or downgraded it in multiplayer to make less on Xbox Live
LISTEN UP when play any game online the data being send from your box IS NOT GRAPHICS, its info about: Where are you on the map, which way are you looking, what weapon are you carrying and so on....Conclusion: graphics dont have anything to do with the connections and lag... I does not matter if the graphics is in 12 colours or 20x20 pixels, the game will stil have to send the same amount of data to the other boxes you are playing with.
Example IF i am pointing north, my xbox sends the data to the host, THEN the host sends the data about me pointing north to all the xboxes in the game, THEN all the people on the server that is looking at me makes the graphics, their xbox'es not mine. So it doesnt matte if i am a stick man or an ultra bump mapped chief, the data being send is the same. got the point :) Good, now dont make that silly mistake again :)
*********IMPORTANT NOTE*********END

The only thing that could make bungie downgrade the graphics in multiplayer was if there would be so much action that the xbox would slowdown, but that would be strange because there should be the same amount of action in both multiplayer and singleplayer right!

Um... if you think these screenshots look shoddy, go check out the shots for ANY other game out there and then come back. Those shots, even without everything tweaked and tuned and turned on, look amazing; better then anything anyone ever even imagined just 5 years ago.

Almost true, but not quite. In multiplayer splitscreen the level of detail (LOD) is usualy reduced. I wouldnt be suprised if the Halo2 had some rather natty LOD managmenet so it can scale the detail levels in multiplayer games so it can look the best while still running smoothly.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

No worries. I know most of you know this, but don't trust screenshots. Take Ninja Gaiden for example: The graphics are incredible, but a lot of the screens look like crap (OXM even says in their review that the screens don't do it justice). Personally, I think that if they kept the Halo 1 engine for Halo 2, the game would still be incredible (although the new engine is much better, Halo 1 still amazes me... its not top-of-the-line, graphics-wise, but the way Bungie did it, it looks damn good visually anyway... just look at the many hudless screens posted at HBO). And if Halo 2's graphics don't beat Half-Life 2's Source-generated stuff,... well, so be it. Its still going to be the best game ever.

And if you're going to be one-sided, at least have an open mind. Half-Life was by no means a bad game. It may not meet some people's personal tastes, but I think greatness comes from a more public opinion, not private.

I know what you're on about there but i doubt the xbox could handle the full animation including visor, shadow etc. for 16 MCs all on the screen at the same time eh?

I know what you mean, but in single player what if 4 elites and 10 grunts run around in a very large landscape and 2 shadows cirkling around are shooting at you, that will take more machine power than 12-13 mc's running around, i dont think that bungie have downgraded the graphics in MP cause that just doesnt make sense if you know something about graphics and programming...

Necronomicon>>>
Almost true, but not quite

I was true...You are also true, you are just talking about internal graphics (split screen multiplyer) i was talking abou the data being send!

OMFG Half-Life is a kik-ass game (not as good as halo but it's the closet thing to it)
The facial expressions in HL2 will be better. They hired a somethingogologist to help with the expresions.

The newer screens are multi-player screens. There is a big difference. Graphical settings are lowered for performance with multi-player, but it still looks damn good.

Have any of you seen the high res scans (in a location I will not mention)? The game looks great.

Multiplayer graphics are always less detailed than singleplayer, deal with it.

Have you even read my previous posts...Please answer me why bungie would lower the graphics in multiplayer!

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

To help reduce lag onlin over Live.

Graphics do have a direct effect on slow down. That is important to mention. Nobody wants to play a match with 16 or 32 people if the match is choppy because of slow down and not lag. This is what I mean when I say that graphics are tuned down slightly for multi-player. Just know that yoka'.

The graphics in single player will be awsome however. You can notice a slight difference in H1 graphics from single player to multi player.

Dude. The graphics in the link you posted are from a CINEMATIC of the game(if you permit me to call it that), not the actual playable game. Your comparing the wrong thing. If you didn't figure this out, well.......... Yeah....

IF the cutscene graphics are game engine, then explain how MC jumps down a ship in space. I truely DOUBT you can do that with the game engine.

Maybe Frankie will enlighten us in his update today. Anyways, it would make sense if they lowered the graphics. It would reduce lag. And anyways even if they did they would probably tune it down to a point where you didn't care/notice. They definetly wouldn't make SP huge and awesomely graphicalley and MP something some guys out of highschool would make. (No offense to Animators straight out of highschool)
