I was blacklisted for 2 days for logging onto bungie from a friends computer.. this does not make sence and i would just like to know why.

  • 09.19.2007 6:09 PM PDT

Probably because your friend was banned.

If you're story is true, then you're friend was banned. Don't bother trying to argue with Bungie/Achronos about it, he will have NO mercy. Trust me, I know. You're better off just waiting it out. Use your other account in the meantime.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

are you sure you didn't do anything stupid?

did you even read teh PM by Disembodied soul?

it said that i tried to go around being blacklisted by logging onto a different account. this is the only acc i have.

Your friend must have been blacklisted, so the soul/a moderator thought that you he was using your account to get around the blacklist.

Your Bungie.net Account is not paid for by anything/anyone. You don't need to have a GT linked to use this magnificent website.

Do you pay for B.net? Because last time I checked, I didn't.

Someone did an ISP check. At that time you had the same one, so it assumed that your friend was trying to get around a blacklist. Or, that is what I would guess happened.

wow no need to b rude im jus curious and btw i pay for xbl and my gamertag is linkd. o and this site is x box live based so think about what ur saying next time.

This site isn't based of X-Box live. You are thinking of xbox.com. Sure, you can link your Gamer-tag to this site, but not everyone uses that feature. This means that the only possible way to track down people using multiple accounts is not their payment method (which could actually still be one person with two parents, or a little brother) would be an ISP check.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude before either.

Using an alternate to avoid a ban results in banning of that account. It is a bad Idea to do this, since I was locked in a banning circle of doom for about 3 weeks because of it.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

When the system detects a banned account on a user's computer, it will ban all other accounts that try to sign in while the ban is in place on that computer. It does that in order to ensure people sit out their bans from the forums. Your friend had a banned account on his computer, so they system thought your account was logging in in order to bypass the blacklist.

Blame your friend for having a banned account on his computer, and for not telling you that he had a banned account. I know it may be annoying to some people, but its really all we have standing between spammers and trolls and all of you. Some innocents may be banned, but its for the greater good.

That post's echoes the argument between closing registration between now and Halo 3's release and not closing it, the innocent may not be able to register and become valued members for a few days, but its for the greater good! :D

Location: Outlaws' Summit.

This happened to me once before. I was loggin onto a computer from my campus library and noticed someone had been on Bungie on that computer (he had his email saved on the login page) and when I logged in, BAM. Blacklisted by D. Soul LOL.

Yeah sometimes you can avoid this already rare case, other times you can't.
