Hey, don't knock a good booger joke. That's how I met mrs. weggie, I wiped my booger on her and she forgot her cootie spray so she had no choice but to marry me.

Interesting cultural traditions you have there. >_>

I think the real fix to this forum issue is to have the Community drop down have a "Forums" button, and then have ANOTHER drop down (or, more appropriately, 'slide-left' menu) that lists all the forums.

  • 09.21.2007 9:57 AM PDT

I think that it should be made into a menu that also slides to the side - as Zag put it, a "slide-left" menu - and then have the forums categorized and displayed in the menu as such. Maybe something along the lines of this:

Community
Community Home
Bungie General Forums
- The Septagon
- The Underground
Halo Forums
- Halo PC
- Optimatch Playlist Discussion
- New Mombasa
- The Library
- Halo 3 Forums
-- Halo 3 General
-- Halo 3 Files Forum 1
-- Halo 3 Files Forum 2
Other Forums
- The Gallery
- The News
- The Voting Booth
- The Classifieds
- Off-Topic: The Flood
Private Groups Spotlight
Group Finder
People Finder
Partners and Fansites

The only thing about slide-left menus is that you'd have to watch out for how wide it gets, but I don't think that the old-school single vertical thread listing-menu is going to cut it after a while.

Just my two cents.

I do see how the new layout is better. Notice how The Underground no longer has Halo 3 posts in it, because the Halo 3 Forums are at the top of the list?

However, I'd still like to have easier access to the Other Forums.

Check the first page of that thread, people joined my thread causing problems and I flamed them back. You cant troll in your own thread, it just doesnt work like that. Check any of my other posts, but its cool if you want to try to throw dirt on my name because you cant stick to the points. Thats fine by me. I might have flamed someone, but you cant make better points than someone you consider a troll? Really, stick on topic, you know thats a rule right?

The rules also state that you should ignore spammers, flamers and trolls. And yes, you can troll your own thread. Anyway.

On topic: Regardles of where the forum is on the dropdown list, if people want to post in a particular forum, they will find their way there. If a certain forum is your favorite, and you want to get there quickly, is adding it to your favorites once such a huge ordeal?

I swear, people seem more content to piss and moan about something that they dont like for hours instead of spending less than a minute to find a workaround.

S3NATOR has brilliantly taken the next philosophical and theoretical step, and advanced mankind once more. For that, I'm forever grateful.

*lollernadoes*

I don't think they should put The Flood in the "others". If you make The Flood harder to find then new people are not going to know where to go to post off topic discussion. This would result in more off topic posts in topic specific forums.

Well Enough Alone...

~"The people who play Bungie games tend to sense that there's something behind the games that's attractive to them. Then they become fans of the games. And then they become rabid fans. And then they become employees of Bungie."(Life story) -Marty

I like the ay they do it now. The forums are listed in order of importance or popularity, wichever comes first. So they have the halo 3 forum, the optimatch forum (I assume it is for halo 3 but it doesn't say so anywere), and the flood, the 3 most used forums. The halo 2, halo 1, and the other forums in the "others" list will hardly ever be used once halo 3 comes out, so why keep them in the drop down list. But I wish that they wouldn't have the people finder, group finder, parteners and fansites, and private groups spotlite in the drop down. They should be somewere else. Like maybe if they had a community drop don and a forum drop down. Then they would also have room in the forum drop donw to list the halo and halo 2 forums.

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

It is called "planned obsolence". Halo 2 is deliberately playing second fiddle to Halo 3, for very obvious reasons. As such, it doesn't get to be a "primary forum" anymore. It has nothing to do with how how many people are still playing the game. We want you to be playing Halo 3, so while we'll still support Halo 2, we're not going to give it the same prominence as before.

Posted by: Flavor FlavThe forum WON'T become obsolete, for the same reason that halo CE didnt become obsolete, people still use halo CE, and i'm sure after the release of halo 3 more people will be playing halo 2, than people played halo CE after the release of halo 2. The reason being differing consoles. While there is something newer out, that does not make the older version "obsolete"

We deliberately don't have slide out menus like that. They often don't work correctly (we're already pushing it with the drop downs we have). Furthermore, it clutters up the navigation, defeating the purpose of having a simple nav bar.

Achronos, you could always bring back the mildly obese navbar at the bottom of the screen... How is he doing?

The Maw deserves to be brought back to the regular forums. Halo 2 Vista hasn't even been out for half a year!

I am a Floodian

I would like to see the Flood moved to others. I know it would be denying it activity, but right now I think it would be a good thing. This always seems happen:

New member: So what do you guys think of this [halo 3 idea here]

"Regular": Um, it's good, but this goes in The Halo 3 forum

New member: I know, but I would get flamed if I put it there.

"Regular": *face palm*

I don't mind that they have an idea, it just seems that it always unnecessarily overflows into The Flood. Also, The Flood shouldn't be a highlighted forum, the Halo 2 one does. In terms of what I think should be important tin Bungie's forums ( counting all currently listed one), Off topic > All others.

Also How-about a tutorial or something that shows which forums are for what. You know, all classic 50's style like.

With Halo 3 only 3 days away, it will become obsolete. As for the Halo 3 forum, prepare for spam everywhere including spoilers. The Flood forum will remain though but it should stay as it is.

Which is why, when people create a thread like this, they have to make sure that they're creating a suggestion thread and not a one-sided protest thread.
Not only that, but you can't just keep bringing it back up. That's why Optimatch's little petitions got so annoying.

Yeah, I guess I should just grateful for the amazing non-flash menus we already have. Still, I feel like I'm never going to visit the other forums anymore, and it must be quite tedious for the moderators to not have easy access.
