Well, an AGP slot is one of the types of slots the is used to plug your video card into your motherboard. There is only one for each computer, ALWAYS. The AGP runs are 8x or 4x, and stands for Accelerated Graphics Port. There is a more recent version of the connecting slot between your Motherboard and video card. It is called PCI-Express and it runs at 16x, and some motherboards support using two videocards running with PCI-X w00t!

In order to find out, you will probably need to open up your PC. It will probably be a brown slot, and will be the only one that differs from your PCI slots (different from PCI-X). The PCI slots will most likely be white, and you will have several of them.

what about alienware and duel veido cards? was that a lie, or is is something like AGP and PCI express?
ohh yeah: if you own a dell (or similar) your AGP slot might be green, not brown. but it's ontop of the PCI slots. Always

no, the SLI feature is only done with 2 pci x slots. actually im not too sure, but it could work. Although both cards need the slot for the SLI connector on it. I dont know if any agp cards have that slot.

Well I opened up my computer, looked next to my PCI slots, and there is a space in the motherboard tht looks like a AGP slot should be there. I guess my motherboard doesn't have an AGP slot (which is weird since I bought my computer 5 months ago. Surely most new computers should have these!). Its a bummer since i have asked for a RADEON 9700 pro for Christmas, and now I can't use it. Is there anyway to install a AGP slot?

the nvidia sli (scalable link interface)only works with certain pci-express cards supporting sli, and only with a nvidia nforce 4 chipset in the motherboard supporting sli. it does not work with agp at all

that pic is a spot for an agp slot, you do not have one

what the problem most likely is, is you have a prebuilt computer by whatever company and they made it a certain way, and did not expect it to be upgraded. my moms computer is the same way.

Heyyo,

Yeah, get a new motherboard first, and then get a new videocard.

I suggest you grab an Asus if you have an AMD processors, dunno any good ones for Intel's P4's...

if you have a prebuilt computer like dell, compaq etc. it may not fit a new motherboard.

and i would not reccomend asus, but i dont want to tell you what to buy

abit, msi and gigabyte are the three leaders of motherboard manufacturers
i would suggest msi for amd processors, and abit or gigabyte for p4s.
