I've noticed that a few other people have had this problem. First off, NEVER EVER touch the bottom of your disk. Sadly, many people do this, and absolutely screw up their game.

Ok, only advice that I can give is to either wash the bottom of the game disk (strangely, tooth-paste works for me), or buy another copy of Halo. Try the former first, and then if that doesn't work, buy another disk. Halo is coming kinda' cheap these days ($30), so don't worry about not having enough cash.

Well, if you're disk is damaged, you might be out of luck, however, if not, you should try doing these things.
1. Dust off your xbox, including the CD tray. The disk may not be dirty, but if it's dirty around it, you get the same effect.
2. If you xbox is on any type of carpet, take it off. Put it on something solid. I'm not sure why, but this strategy has worked quite a few times.
3. Let your xbox cool down for about three hours. Sometimes rapidly turning the xbox on and off can lead to errors.

But it seems that you may have a damaged disk, being that the damage is selective in that it's only a few levels you can't play. If you have a good sized scratch on your disk, clean it up really well, sometimes a scratch won't kill anything. Good luck!

sigma is right, putting your xbox on carpet is bad, the reason is static in the carpet, my friends xbox used to do that until he took it off the carpet.

I get these problems too when I try to play my OXM demo discs. Usually the discs start working after washing them a lot of times.
