Bungie is an Xbox company and in general does not rigorously support the PC market for its games. This is not necessarily a bad thing since they have been very successful in the Xbox arena and from a business standpoint it makes sense to focus their efforts there.

Dude, Bungie cares about it's PC gamers more than Microsoft will ever care. Yes, Bungie made profits out of the Xbox, but sometimes I feel like there letting their hardcore PC gamers down. I, for one, think the Xbox is the worst gaming platform ever.

You do know that Bungie was origenally making games for the Macintosh. Halo only came out for the Xbox because of the whopping amount of money that M$ bought them out with.
M$ splashs them with money and they save M$'s failing system.

Like the old gaming/math/life saying goes "Know your roots"

Valve is the slickest company that I have ever seen. All they have is basically teh Half-life 2 series, and they're gonna suck whatever they can from it. The bastards discontinued the Black Box, because they know there are people who will buy the Orange Box instead. THOSE PEOPLE ARE RETARDED. I hereby am launching a boycott on Valve because of this bulls***. The Orange Box is a complete waste of everyone's money, as it forces fans of the series to buy Half-Life 2 and Half-life 2 Ep1, both of which a majority of the population already has. They are sniviling bastards, and I havn't liked any of their decisions since they're decision to create Steam

...What the Hell are you whining about? The Orange Box gives you Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal at the cost of fifty dollars. That's three games in one. Why is HL2 and HL2:E1 being included with it a bad thing? It's not like it's making you pay more for it. Besides, doesn't Steam give you the option to give away a copy of a game to a friend if you have more than one Half-Life 2 game?

Yeah, let's just ignore the amount of money you would save if you bought each game individually; what a complete waste of everyone's money.

Yay for not reading what your discussing first. The Orange box (AKA Box of Leetness) only contains Portal, Half Life 2: Eppisode 2, and Team fortress 2. Am I gonna dish out $50 to continue the series? -blam!- yeah . Hmm, since 'creating' steam, they're become sniviling bastards? Why are so many people complaining about steam? If you enter your account name and password, and activate any game you can download that game repititly on any computer you go on. Not even needing the CDs to play. What Bastards!!1!1!!!
Half Life 2 has something I find lacking of Halo 2 and Halo 3, called quality.

  • 10.04.2007 5:53 PM PDT

Hello! Star Wars FTW. Also, join the MAW group. Please?

Then why don't you go troll the steam forums instead of bungie's if apparantly all of Bungie's games are so craptastic? What I don't understand is why so many people proclaim to hate Bungie and it's games, yet they are still here on these forums. I think some people just don't want to get criticized for being a fanboy so they pretend that they didn't like halo either. Well you know what? I loved and still love every single halo game. I think that they are freaking amazing, and some of the best if not the best games I have ever played.

BTW, I got Half-Life 2 Ep 1 for 8 bucks on the 3rd day of its release. I got a special deal for circuit city (no i don't know anyone who works there.) So when I see that I have to buy a 3 hour game, an experimental portal game, and a wierd cellshaded multiplayer deathmatch game, AND ADDITIONALLY 2 games i already have. Well that just plain sucks. I wanna buy a 3 hour game for 8 bucks, so instead of arguing. I WONT BUY IT. I'll wait until either the Black Box comes out, the orange box costs 8 bucks, or until hell freezes over. (or i could get it other ways...lol) Either way, I think valve sucks ass, and steam is the biggest piece of techno crap I have ever seen. :)

I plan to get the Orange Box as soon as possible after it comes out. I've never played Half Life Two, and could only buy a copy of Halo PC and free games like sidescrollers and Marathon. But yeah, everything in the Orange Box looks awesome.

Halo 2 Vista is the start of Xbox Live on PCs, which I hope fails just like Halo 2 Vista itself. Halo 1 PC is fairly good, and lead does really does make you aim more precisely, which is better in the end.

....Three hours? Wow, that's a load of BS. You're exaggerating. It's actually longer than the first episode. An "experimental portal game"? A "wierd cellshaded multiplayer deathmatch game"? What's the Hell of you buying the Black Box anyway if you don't seem to like these games that come with it, considering it seems like you're criticizing them unfairly. I think Team Fortress 2 or Portal alone are worth fifty dollars each. And about Steam; although Valve has definitely need to work some issues out with Steam, it's a superb online game distribution service and it allows you to play anywhere on any PC that you install Steam on. That's pretty awesome. It sounds absolutely absurd to make it sound like you're being ripped off when you get amazing deals with games that would cost much more to buy elsewhere.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you. I WANT to flush my money down the toilet. I want to pay 50 bucks each for TeamFortress 2 and Portal. They are definitely worth that much. As a matter of fact, I think anyone who doesn't give all of their money to the ever so godly Valve, should be shot. *rofl*

Dude, I think you have bigger problems than just misunderstanding my statement. My main statement is that I WANT TF2 and Portal AND HL2:EP2, but I don't want to be forced to buy the same games 58 times. Imagine when HL2: Ep3 comes out. You'll be saying "what? Half Life is awesome. Im willing to buy Ep1 and 2 again to play Ep3." That's F!@$ed up. I'm curious as to what drug I would have to take, in order to be so delusional.

What I am saying is that you are a douche. Not just any douche, but a douche who is blatantly being taken advantage of, and at the same time you think that Valve is giving you a good deal. Portal is a f!@#ing experimental game, from an experimental team. In other words, it’s a game, but it’s more like an extended MOD. Maybe it’s worth 20 bucks, but 50 bucks? Come on, throw me a bone. Either you’re full of it, or you’re full of crack.

TeamFortress 2 is not worth 50 bucks for the same reason as Portal. Though its not like a MOD, it’s like Day of Defeat. Do you see anyone playing that f***ing game?!? No one in their right f***ing mind would pay 50 bucks for that piece of s***. Though there is a large fanbase for the original teamfortress game, and TF2 is definitely better than DOD, TF2 is not worth 50 bucks, NO WAY IN HELL.

I wanna buy the black box, because I would actually enjoy playing all three games. I would be willing to pay $29.99 to play EP2, TF2, and Portal. I think this price is fair, and so does Valve. But Valve realizes that they don’t have s*** besides the Half-Life series, so they wanna suck us dry.

You my friend, have been manipulated by Valve. They are no doubt a good company. But because they only have Half-Life, they want to suck us dry. Don’t fall into the trap. I’m boycotting the orange box, until they finally give us what we really want. The FREAKING BLACK BOX!!!

I'm not going to argue with your opinion, here, but have you ever even played TF2 or Portal? I mean, I can't say much because I haven't played them myself. But they're full-fledged games; call them glorified mods with gimmicky features if you want. That's equating them to any other retail game that you would find on shelves for fifty bucks. Two games for the price of one (actually, 2.5 considering HL2:E2). My logic, which makes sense to many people besides myself, would deem that as a good thing. Also, I'm not the "douche" here. I'm not a Valve fanboy although they do churn out some damn fine games. I would say that If anyone dislikes Valve more than you, it would be me, but I'm not that irrational.

You know what? You don't want to buy Half-Life 2 again? Fine. Don't buy The Orange Box; boycott it like you say you will. It's actually your loss.

Obviously, they're out to make money, and you can't really blame them for that, but you're acting as if Valve is commiting unpardonable sin and holding unholy sessions with the devil and what they're doing is out of malice. No, I don't like to lose money when it could be better spent on better deals, and it's a pain whenever we waste money on things that shouldn't have to be so, but it seems like such a trivial matter that you are complaining about the twenty dollar difference between The Orange Box and The Black Box. Yes, it's a shame that Valve did not decide to release The Black Box, but why are you so irritated over this matter when there are plenty of other more stuff that needs your attention to be pissed off about? Guess what? What you see is what you get.

Recoton, please don't bash Team Fortress 2. The original was one of the games that made online gaming what it is today. I only hope this incarnation is as wonderful as it's predecessor. You're getting way too worked up over it at any rate.

Besides, the original TFC is still worth 50 bucks in my opinion. But that's just me having a thing for old games. Colonization, the first Civilization, Fallout 1 and 2, Duke Nukem 3d, Baldurs Gate, Doom and Doom 2, Half Life, TIE Fighter, X-wing, Rebellion, Jagged Alliance, Commander Keen, the original Wing Commander, MechCommander, Mechwarrior 2, Aces Over Europe, Alpiner, Tombstone, Parsec, and so on and so on. I'm sure half of the people here have never even heard of, let alone played any of those great games. Back then it was all about the story, and the gameplay. Two things that are becoming secondary to spiffy graphics in this day and age.

Bungie is free from Microsoft's death grip... maybe there's hope for a Bungie-made Halo 3 PC port, or at least a Bungie PC game.

When I was just three years old on an old texas Instrument TI99/4. Vintage 1981 people. Then the Commodore Amiga, then DOS games, then win 95, 98 and XP. Yeah, I'm old!

I don't mean to bash Team Fortress 2, but I just don't see how it alone is worth 50 bucks. I don't think TFC is worth 50 bucks, but if you are willing to pay that much, be my guest. TF has a fairly large fanbase, and it is a pretty cool game. I'm not angry so much that we are forced into buying TF2 and Portal. I actually want to buy those games. But I don't think it fair for valve to force us to buy the original Half-Life 2 and Ep1 all over again. I already have these 2 games, and buying them again is just a waste of cash.

I also have a thing for old games, but I think my taste goes a little further back. I know every single one of the games you listed except the last 3. These are my old games in my computer right now (excluding Half-life and Civilization 2.) The Hugo Series (House of Horrors, Whodonit), Hero's Quest, Doom, Prince of Persia, Police Quest, Scorched Earth, Scorched Earth 3D(unofficial sequel), Marathon, Myth, Caesar, Wolfenstein 3D...among others. I still play these games on occasion. LOL, as a matter of fact, I brought my laptop in three days ago and played Scorched Earth 3D in the cafeteria. Graphics were as much a part of games as they are now. Most of the games that i listed are games that wowed people in graphics, because it was the first time in gaming history that people were playing with realistic looking avatars, when before they were playing with wierd pixelated blobs. Retrogamers, ROCK ON!!!
