Only about 8 hours left... can't wait. Except that is one day and 8 hours for me. Still, launch time is first launch time. Rejoice!

What the hell is so good about first page?

My dad is getting H3 this afternoon.

And I think it's safe to say there is 4 people multiplayer splitscreen. But bungie just didn't mention it because it's obvious that you don't need a connection or any cables to play splitscreen.

this thread is full of so many retards that its ridicules

I just saw one of the Spike Halo 3 launch clips on Xbox Live and it right away confirms 4-player split-screen survived. Thank God.

I'm pumped again.

The way this is worded makes me worry that 4-player split screen for multiplayer didn't make the final cut.

"A: No, LAN games (games played on a Local Area Network) and System Link games are still possible. For two 360 systems, simply connect them together with any Ethernet cable (360 automatically does the “crossover” process. For more than two players, up to a maximum of 16, a LAN or router(s) will be required."

I really hope that isn't the case. If it is, I'm going to be rather disappointed.

he means, more than 2 different xboxes.

can anyone give me NUMBERS as to what is fast and what is slow for a connection?

Does anyone know how i can change my NAT settings to open from strict? Thanks

You mean change you from STRICT to OPEN dont you? If this is the case, depending on your router/gateway you need to manually assign an IP address to your 360 and place that IP address in the DMZ (if you don't manually assign an IP, your router/gateway automatically assigns a new address each time you boot up your 360).

I found that turning off the NAT setting on my gateway stopped my internet from working and my 360 wast still STRICT, eventually I have worked out that turning the uPnP off and leaving NAT enabled means my internet connection works fine and my 360 is now OPEN.

You may also want to check your PORT settings http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874/en-gb?sd=xbox. I hope this helps.

I made a opening NAT for dummies guide right here on bungie.net. Please use it step by step and be patient in the process.

Not much help here.

Typical windows wares that don't want to work with anything except the specific stamp-of-approval stuff. Did they learn anything from Vista or did they end up making more profit from that despite all the issues and the overall "Vista was a failure" mentality?

I can't get invited to play with friends in Halo3 despite my NAT being open and being an IT guy.... I friggin know networks because it's my job... and yet somehow Halo 3 manages to be go way over my head with it's unknown network requirements....... which seriously are unknown. It's like the devs just found a setup that "worked" and demanded everyone use that direct link and if you don't "too bad so sad" --- some product.

And Tahmer, I am having the exact same issue.

I want to thank bungie. Because you put a lan limiter (which took me forever to figure out), I can only play on xbox live. I CAN NOT PLAY AT MY CAMUP DORM because the ping is a little to high. This means all the people I play with at camup have to give XBL to play together. Glad you help microsoft make more money at the expense of your game and fans.

I'd just love to know how to get two XBox 360s behind the same router to both report "OPEN" at the same time. It seems impossible. :(

Hi

I hope that someone can help me as I am about to pull my hair out!

I have the following problems and have contacted microsoft support line in the UK 3 times and they do not seem to be able to help me every time the person I have talked to has to go to the supervisor and I get glib answers that do not work. Bear in mind that I am not the greatest with IT...
I have a wireless network and the router model is D-Link DSL-2740B. I am signed up with Bungie.net. I have no problems playing on live with other games so I think it must be game specific? My 360 settings show that my NAT is open.
The problems are as follows:

1. When I try to view a 'Bungie favourite' picture/film through my 360 console or to view my own saved films I get the following message

"You do not have permission to view user-created content on your xbox 360 console"

Could someone tell me wtf is happening and what I need to do to change this (it may be very simple but I cannot find a solution and it appears that microsoft support cannot either.

2. If I try to join any of my friends to play Halo 3 online I cannot as I get the same message.

Needless to say this is driving me insane any help at all would be appreciated. When replying can you use simple easy to understand steps that I can follow.

Thanks in advance

First off, can some moderator please remove all 'first post/page' newbs and when done with those please delete all other off-topic rubbish. Isn't this board moderated?

Secondly, I can't find a good answer for setting up my routerfirewall so I won't get that annoying message that my ports aren't open so I should visit the www.bungie.net/router page.

After looking on microsofts helppages for xbox live I finally found some ports that might do the trick (thank god I found something... it took me about half an hour FCOL)

It's UDP 88 and UDP/TCP 3074. I thought this would do the trick but after opening up I still got the warning.

So my question is: what ports need to be open to get full and fast acces to the bungie servers/halo xbox live?

I hope that somebody is still reading this topic after all the crap that's posted here. Many thanks in advance

I have a question. My NAT is set to Open. I try to join my friends matches and it wont let me. Ive only been able to join very few games when I get invites. Please help.

exactly the same problem. I have an open NAT and but I can hardly join anyones games. I just tried 4 different people and each time it said the same " you can not join game because of Networking incompatibility issues. You have an open NAT which is the most flexible, visit www.bungie.net/router for more details." Help me please
