Same problem for me too. My NAT is open. Can't join a friends game. I can do matchmaking by myself (or with random people I meet in-game) all day long, but if a friend invites me to their game, I can't join.

Woot That means im not the only one getting frustrated cause i cant play or message friends. it also says my nat is open but i cant join anyone i know, in chat or in a game. it sucks and im getting quite sick of seeing the stupid error.

'That being said' i wanna say i dont exactly need it taken care of right this minute but a little explination would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have basically the same problem... Only with me, I can join all of my friends except one. And he can join all of his friends except for me. And both our NATs are open, so like... what's going on? And we can join someone else on our friends list, then the other can join that same friend and we'll be able to play, but when we try to join each other, we can't. It really sucks, since we're best friends, too

When I test my connection, the router set is open, but in matchmaking, it says my router is moderate. What should I do?

im so happy that they are giving us responses on why this is happening and how we can fix it....yeah....real helpful....not like this is a problem that should probably be dealt with...ya know...honestly....who wants to play games with their friends anyways

Has anyone found a way around this? Also recently i keep gettting kicked from XBL and it is becoming a real pain in the ass anyone else having these issues?

  • 12.30.2007 6:16 PM PDT

There is no such thing as a stupid question.
but there are stupid people who ask questions.

Me too, im having all of these problems with getting kicked. sometimes ill be "connected" to xbox live. but i cant get into any games and when im in the lobby it tells me the population is zero. i talk to my friend on the computer and he says im still online and everything, wtf is going on. other times i cant get on at all. i even run connection tests and it says everything is connected, but when i sign on, it tells me i cant get on. and yes....my NAT settings are open. i hope this thread is actually supposed to help or something

i got my Nat saying "STRICT NAT" i really wanna fix it but i dont know how. i have a netgear router, please help me.

  • 01.19.2008 4:19 PM PDT

Same thing here, Open NAT according to XBL test in dashboard AND Halo 3, but there are certain friends whom joining never works. There always has to be some sort of intermediary player who one of us joins first, and then heaven forbid someone gets dropped, then we have to start over again.

Never had problems with Halo 2, BTW, and it's the same group of people trying to play together. My router, ISP, and cable modem are the same.
