A highscores list!

Bungie Online needs a list of the best.

There could be different highscores, 1 for highest xp, 1 for highest amount of enemies killed, highest for a certain enemy killed (grunt for example), etc.

It would be really fun battling each other for the highest place on the list.

There were over 3 million games logged today, how the heck you gonna rank that?

They store EVERYTHING in a database, its the only way for them to track your stats.

Its not like they ill be wasting any more space then they are now.

They would just create a page, query for the highest to the lowest and get the entries and put it in, trust me, it wouldn't be that hard.

On here they could rank, but not all players of the game have a .net passport, so ranking on here would be pointless, not true statistics. Its a faulty idea. Doing an update to the game itself would be pointless as well.

You are still not getting at where I am going.

No matter if your registered on bungie.net your statistics are still tracked. Type in some 1's gamertag into the search and you still see their stats no matter if they got a bungie.net account or not.

and there wouldn't be any update to the game, the game wont change 1 bit, this is only an update to bungie.net, There will just be a new page under the "bungie online" button at the top, which shows the person with the most kills, person with the most deaths, person with the highest time online, etc.

They already have everything they need to back it, no need for an update, no need for anything.

All they would have to do is create a simple page that sorts the database for the highest, This is EASILY done.

My guess is the answer has something to do with elitism and/or cheaters.

These are called leaderboards. We had them here a long time ago, but lost the privilege due to the fact that it was saturated with cheaters (it even earned the nickname Cheaterboards).

agreed -- there would be too many cheaters that b.net would have too keep track of

A highscores list!

Halo 2 used to have a leaderboard. But instead of the board showing honor worthy people, all it showed was cheating losers. Unfortunately leaderboards are too much of an incentive for cheaters to cheat.

Maybe if Bungie or the community came up with whacky ways of posting leaders. Most bomb plants, assasinations, sticks, etc. instead of traditional "kills, rank, etc" leaderboards.

Thank God! If Halo 3 had a leaderboard it would be high as crap!

But Friend leaderboards are relevant no comments on bringing in a Friends leaderboard?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

We had a leaderboard back in the days of early Halo 2. During those times, it was safe to say that 90% of them were illigitimately gained.

Just say no to leaderboards.

When you go to friends up at the top of your screen at bungie.net and click the halo 3 tab, there is a friends leaderboard ranked by skill rating.

How about leaderboards for Campaign Meta-game scoring? It's not going to encourage cheaters, and it would definitely increase the replayability factor of Campaign. [:

that makes no sense at all leader boards are the best in high populations and the only real reason you would omit them is if you are worried about these cheaters. though i think since halo 2 detecting a cheater should be a piece of cake and you guys should have no problem posting a leader board. but then again my cd doesnt even load certain maps so what do i know

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Very good point, In fact it is safe to say the only legit people on their was probably the mid 20s and 30s anything higer or lower was either a cheater or a de-leveler, or the more likely a mixture of the two (my personal favorite).
