Subject: We need subforums for Halo 3, there's just too many posts comin...

Hi guys,
Trying to make a post in the Halo 3 forum is, at the moment, rather laborious. Posts get buried to page 2 almost immediately with the amount coming in per minute. With a game as big a fanbase as Halo 3, I believe that some sub-forums are needed in order to stunt--at least partly--the massive intake of posts the forum is receiving.

What these sub-forums would be is entirely up to Bungie; however, I'd recommend (at least to start) a Help forum, a Campaign forum, and a Live forum. Maybe you could even take it a little further with forums for weapons, story discussion, map discussion, etc...

I've been posting on this for a while, lemme just dig up my most recent post.
-EDIT- Here we go.
Vehicles, weapons, maps, multiplayer, single-player, general.

Everyone just reply with "SIGNED" if you agree, so Bungie will see that a lot of people really care for a sub forum.

Signed.

I was quite surprised everything is lumped into one forum.

Mr. Tom is correct. This could be considered a petition, but aside from all that, subforums would make it harder for the moderators to moderate. It's easier to see all the topics at once rather than click from subforum to subforum. The H3 forum is bad enough, we don't need subforums to make that mess even worse.

I'll give you an analogy to help you better understand. Imagine, if you will, someone spilling some unnamed gooey substance (use your imagination) on the floor and all you do to it is spread it around without actually cleaning anything up. When you do get around to cleaning it up, it's going to be a lot harder. That's what subforums will do.

Wow! Well put.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you, no matter how nice your analogy may be. Once again, at the moment there are so many posts coming into the Halo 3 forum that one of your newly posted topics could get bumped to page 2 almost immediately. This isn't helping the community in my opinion but is making it more difficult to convey whatever it is the poster is trying to convey: a question, an idea, etc... Threads are given little priority and are, for the most part, going by without getting a single reply.

I think by having forums dedicated to certain aspects of Halo 3 (which is as massive of a game as they come) would greatly help the Bungie community. Also, it's not difficult to get a few individuals to moderate a couple of forums. I frequent several messageboards where there's never been a trouble with modding several different forums.

Bungie is unique. I'm willing to bet that the 'other' message boards you frequent are either strictly moderated or don't see a tenth of the traffic that comes through Bungie.net.

Besides, discussions concerning modding are a taboo topic here.

That's not a problem with the forum; it's a problem with the community. Instead of contributing to other threads of the same nature, people would much rather start their own topic and more community members bump those thread back up with "Old" and "Lern2search", etc.

i'm sorry, but with the threat of being banned, i won't agree or disagree, just wanna say if you guys have seen the " halowars.com " forums, that if you ask me is the perfect way to have a forums, i mean it's orginized, its moderated well, and its a nice and fun place to go to, here i'm just confused, and i get lost a lot, and i can never find a not locked post

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

It may make things more difficult for mods. But I'm assuming mods are mods because they care about the community (if they didn't, why else would they spend their time here?). And if sub-forums helped make the forums more organized, and make discussion easier for everyone, I don't see why they would be opposed to having to work a little more. I'm not saying mods should be like robots. I'm just saying if having sub forums is for the good of the community, I don't really see how they can be against it.

Here's an example of how sub forums would instantly help the community. If there was a sub forum for custom games/forge, you could sticky certain topics that wouldn't be able to be stickied in the normal Halo 3 forum because it would be too cluttered. Two examples of sticky-worthy threads in such a sub forum would be these. This thread and this thread. Having those as stickies would help many people, but there isn't enough room for those kind of stickies on the main Halo 3 page. And so people just keep bumping those threads. Which I'm sure the mods have turned a blind eye to (thankfully), given the helpful nature of the threads. The Thread of Interest thread is a good example of why it's a bad reason to have only one Halo 3 general forum. There are so many links in that thread that I'm sure people don't even look at the links since there are so many. I know I personally have gone into that sticky, and then quickly left after seeing so many links. Still to this day I have no idea what links are in that thread.

The problem still doesn't lie with the forum layout. It has to do with simple-minded community members who create new threads without looking to see if there's another thread just like it. People are so stuck on the idea of it being "their" thread that gets the most hits.

'Lo, there do I see my father.
'Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers.
'Lo, there do I see the line of my people back to the beginning.
'Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla...
Where the brave... may live... forever.

There are just too many kids that dont practice proper forum etiquette, such as searching for threads before they post one about the same topic. It is eally gumming up the works and making it hard to keep up.
