With Halo 3 out, I can look at my friends list at any given time, and fine a big portion of people playing Halo 3.. And nothing else. No other game.

Halo 2 is being deprived of players. Enough to keep it going, yes. But it will continue to die. So my question is. When is Bungie going to stop supporting it? When it gets so bad that it's just not profitable? Or when the matchmaking system doesn't work right anymore? When will Bungie stop supporting it? And what will happen?

R.I.P. Halo 2.

Long live Halo 3.

you could never play Halo 1 online. It was a system link for mutiple systems. And as far as Halo 2 goes. They'll cont. to support it as long as people play it. Why wouldn't they?

Ya I just checked and there is 872 active servers on the pc.

  • 10.01.2007 5:12 PM PDT

I would guess that it will be supported as long as there are enough people playing it for matchmaking to work like it should. I don't know how long that will be, but I think that some of the people playing halo 3 will be back soon. There are some that just don't care for the game and would rather play halo 2. Even if matchmaking is taken offline there are always LAN parties and customs to play. I don't think halo 2 will ever completely die off, I know people that still play halo ce on their xbox with xbox connect. Only time will tell whats going to happen for sure. In any case halo 2 had a good run.

The people who leave halo 3 and go back to halo 2 are the guys that rely on glitches to win and hate the fact that Halo 3 takes skill to win at and halo 2 has enough auto aim for anybody to be great at.

Actually halo 3 is like halo 2 but with more cheap weapons. Plus there still are glitches in halo 3, Although I don't know how affective they are. Besides almost every one has glitched once or twice on porpose or not. imo Halo 2 is still the best game of the series.

Actually, you can play Halo 1 online. You can also play Halo 2 online, and skip matchmaking all together. The online conection is set-up via a system link game, so any game you own on your xbox that supports system link will work. Go to www.xbconnect.com

I still play Halo: CE on XBC and campaign VERY often. It's the best one in the series. No doubt.

I heard that the Halo 2 servers are being moved to Halo 3 to combat the lag......I really hope that this doesnt happen as I prefer Halo 2 MP to Halo 3 MP mainly because Halo 3 has too many cheap weapons and I like playing with the glitches...

There is nothing stoping you from glitching, it is not hard nor is it hard to learn....Auto aim yes but the onlr real advantage to this is the snipe...In H3 coming from H2 the only problem I had was getting used to the snipe...and even then there is not much difference.....

From what my friend and I have concluded, the only weapons that have auto-aim in halo 2 is the plasma pistol when you charge it and get the reticule to turn red), and the sword(that one is obvious).

The shotgun, brute shot, and sniper rifle and beam rifle, BR, the pistol do not have auto-aim. And if you classify your spartan as moving his aim just a smidgen to follow someone that walks in front of him while holding one of the above listed non-auto-aim weapons... then you don't get it. When in a gun fight, that same little tracking doesn't occur. Most people lost BR battles in the open because their dumb asses can't keep the reticule on their opponent's forehead. Why can't they? NO AUTO-AIM.

And I have many a recollection of sniping and slashing an area of Lockout and killing a guy because I pulled the trigger at the right moment, seemingly killing them out of luck.

you obviously havent played h2v. if you play you will see the difference between players with auto aim with all their weapons like a br then those using a mouse withou auto aim.

Of course I haven't. I don't know what "h2v" means. And even if I did, I'm sure I wouldn't care enough to figure out the auto-aim prejudices.

^Dumbest quote in this thread. All of the people ive played with in Halo 2 that were extremely good MLG players are every bit as good...if not better at Halo 3. Both games take skill to be good at, button glitches were a very minor part of Halo 2.

It's not a 'huge glitch' Its called Xbox Connect...They supply servers using the LAN feature of halo 1, its actually really easy...download it on your desktop, and do a search in XBC for your xbox... then click the games on the computer and join them when they pop up on the xbox. although you cant talk using a mike with the free version you can using Xbox Pro Connect... here's the link...

fi completely agree with every word you say. IT took more skill to Quad shot a guy then it ever will to missile pod a banshee or pistol shotgun someone from 15FT away or flamethrower someone coming up an air lift. it took more skill to bxr someone then it does to switch to your shotgun and shoot some guy as he lunges for you after no scoping you. fcku halo 3 long live halo 2 the best game in the series.
