It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Well, for starters we could start organizing. Put our superior intellect to the test. For instance- We could Archive all the easter eggs in Halo 2 into one thread, then if that gets made a sticky it will begin to reduce the number of stupid posts, which will reuce the number of flaming at those stupid posts, which will cause New Mombasa to be a happier place.

That will be hard.

You can better have a Covenant ship jump inside New Mombasa. Less messy than what those posters leave behind after their stampede.

Heh. Check the stickies in New Mombasa, if you will...

This is the kind of stuff I hate. Just use real words and make coherent sentences.

I want to have a question steered away from Halo 2. On the forums many of the people here has their refuge in the Septagon or the Flood, like me. Spam of repeated topics and just plain spam have invaded most other forums. I believe the moderators should crack down on the spammers and start banning after one offense. In fact, it may help to have about 20 more moderators from different timezones so we always have one on.It is getting real bad. The spam has started to leak and I don't think at this rate we can prevent it. At least, we need to take back the Underground. What are you going to do to stop this? Will you take my advice?

Thanks,
Zeke

I just posted this is in the Weekly Whats Update thread and hopefully it will get answered.

I can't actually believe they blacklisted MC's Brother. We actually never did anything about the spammers, we just discussed ways that the moderators could improve the forums.

Sounds good on paper, but I dont think it would work. First off finding all the easter eggs would be very very hard. secondly, even if we managed to pull it off and get a sticky. Their is no reason why someone would join up and read the stickys. I'll admit that when I first joined. I didnt read the stickys either. It was at least a month until I noticed them. And even with the stickys already up there, People are still oblivous to them and what they say. We need another method

But you knew damn well how similar your group was to NMST.

But the thing is, we never were acting elitist, nor did we disobey rules. I was part on NMST and the main thing about it was that we would promote it everytime we posted and we would act elitist. Instead of saying, "Flames aren't allowed, NMST out," we would acknowledge both views and try to settle it.

It's still counter productive -- think of the maturity level of the people you're trying to... 'educate'. By going back and forth with them you'd only cause things to get worse -- no matter your intentions. People would think you're acting like you're better than them, and whether it's true or not -- people would take offense. Then the flaming commences -- and people start complaining about you instead of making the dumb posts, they're both annoying to the mods -- but guess which is worse? The idiotic post that's somewhat on topic? Or the flames and gripes that are completely off topic?

The deal here is -- let the mods do their job -- it may take a while with the influx of new members, but eventually things will die down as people lose interest -- the best way to expedite the process is to ignore them completely -- the more they are ignored, the less reason they have to post -- This applies to everyone.

Everyone craves attention, and by mounting a posse to countermand trolls, spammers or just plain old idiocy, you don't help the matter by giving them attention.

And then once things calm down Bungie announces Halo 3, a new forum for Halo 3 is created and then the cycle repeats, albeit without much rinsing or soaking.

The cycle will indeed repeat -- but you must be the bigger man and behave yourself. (Or woman -- it's just a pronoun) Simply put -- if you consider yourself a well-behaved member -- then you have nothing to gain by changing your behavior.

So let the cycle run it's natural course -- by doing anything else you can only prolong the agony, if not make it worse.

I think i'll just wait around in the Flood until Bungie moves on from the Halo series, and then everyone will be all over the new Bugnie games. And those few remaining Halo people will be saying "I miss the good ol days when we were all crazy about Halo!" and everyone else will say "Halo? what's Halo?" Then we'll just shrivel and pop.

As a public forum. and as us as members. There is really nothing we can do about it but ignore the spammers.

What could we do to help out NM anyway? It's a hell hole.

Why do we need NM? We could start a group and just post our stuff about the campaign there.

Hopefully things will calm down again in a few months. I've been on other game forums, and things always seem to go in a cycle.
