Yeah, calm the hell down, you say they never mentioned disk errors. BooHoo. they gave you a FAQ link, which includes this...

Q: What do I do if my Halo 3 game disc is scratched?

A: If you received a scratched or damaged Halo 3 game disc or “Essentials” Disc, you can get a free replacement by visiting Xbox.com and completing a few easy steps. Visit Xbox.com for more info. :
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/gameplay/ discreplacement-program.htm

Thats all they can do. Sorry. Stop whining.

Q: What do I do if my Halo 3 game disc is scratched?

"cept these are not scratched to begin with

  • 09.28.2007 7:35 PM PDT

Listen, neanderthal, because I'm only going to say this once: our discs are not scratched. How HARD is it for you to understand? I mean, I know that in this day of technological wizardry anyone with less than a million brain cells can scratch out a living, but that is no excuse for your acute inability to read. The DRE problem goes BEYOND cosmetic/physical defects. It's so bad that it's utterly annihilating something inside the 360, making it so that select people can't even play games with it anymore.

As for what we expect them to do?

We expect them to at least acknowledge that there is an error in compatibility. So far: nothing.

So YOU be quiet. YOU shut up. Meanwhile, myself and the other individuals who have this problem will try and coerce Bungie into getting off their mountains of money and address their community like we rightfully deserve.

I'm tired of all the people saying the solution is getting a new disc when I'm pretty sure every has replaced their discs multiple times...

My Best Bungie moment: finally beating all the Halo games on solo legendary.
My Worst Bungie moment: not seeing giant stuffie grunts in the Bungie store.

Okay update

Seriously people, if you aren't good enough to get the skulls without Bungie employee help then you probably aren't good enough to have them on anyway.

Halo 3 is awesome it is even better than i thought it would be. THX Bungie

Halo 3 has been nothing but pure sweet sweet goodness for me =) Only complaint is the scratched disks issue, which is not your guy's fault. And still my two disks run like a charm, no problem.

I personally would like to hear a discussion on the custom games match that was removed. I understand that it would require coding and a revamp of the networking and hosting systems, but I would like to hear from someone other than Achronos, as I find his tone and attitude toward the community more or less unnecessarily blunt and unexplained. I understand the workload going on, and the stress from having such a HUGE launch, but I would like a formal address of the problem, why it was removed and why it can't be "coded in" addressed sometime soon. I've read all of the posts that I could on the subject, but am still at a loss as to why the task is impossible.

Thank you for your time Bungie, I appreciate the work and effort put into this game, and I hope that someday the game can have the custom matches added. It would help make a fantastic game phenominal!

Ashard

I've not been fortunate enough to play this (what I am sure will be) fantastic game yet because I am stuck between America and the UK, floundering in pacific salt water. But I feel a little aggreived (to say the least) that this game is not running at true HD standards. I thought that this was kind of mistake only made on launch games like PGR3, (I am a huge PGR fan) and it annoyed me then, to think that my holy grail, the last Halo in the series and all that, doesn't even weigh in at the true HD level is one that its not ever going to sit easy at the back of my mind. Not that I can speak from experience but I think I'd rather take a lighting quality cut to get those extra pixels. What are the rest of your opinions?
(Oh, and could we have another explanation about the upscaling please. First off you say: "It's fine, it looks brilliant when the 360 effortlessly upscales to 1280 x 720" and then in the next paragraph you say: "There's hardly any discernable difference between the native and upscaled versions" Isn't that because we all know that upscaling kind of sucks and does very, very little to make the picture look better? So why exactly are we supposed to feel better about the lower res because the 360 upscales it?

He had a flaming head.

It was cool.

Halo 3 (31st), ODST (14th) and Reach (4th) Mythic Conqueror. (Mythic is Solo, Legendary, All skulls on + scoring on and no deaths/saves).

Ignorance is the true enemy of all things.

Rocking Bungie.net for over 8 years!

Well firstly, I'd just like to 7hank Bungie for creating a game that totally outclassed everything that came before it (in my opinion), and a game that totally redefined what "Halo" is to me. It was an amazing experience battling through the game my first time on legendary. And although I've haven't got all the achievements yet, I'm gonna be trying this weekend for some more. It is a truely awesome game!

Secondly, i found 3 of your Marathon Terminals on my first time through the game, on Legendary! You guys need more sneaky/hidey skillz yo!

Everybody is really whining HARD about their disc read errors...

WHAT YOU GUYS HAVE TO REALIZE IS THAT THIS IS NOT BUNGIE'S FAULT. Any error with the discs happened at the manufacturer. If it's not the disc, it's the console; you know, the 33% failure-rate console. If it was a software problem, or a patchable problem, all of the game discs would have it, wouldn't they? You've been whining for days about the DRE, but that's the first time you actually thought it through, isn't it?

So go and moan and cry to Microsoft, not Bungie. Bungie is not abandoning their fans or burning any bridges.
Now shut up and stop embarrassing the rest of us. You're making us look like idiots.

I bet if Luke was still on EGM he would hate Halo 3 multiplayer just as much as Halo 2. In fact.. I bet he does hate it because they are incredibly similar.

Subject: Addressing the DRE issues...

For bungie and microsoft alike to address the DRE issues, it cannot be easy for them...

When a problem like this occurs, that could possibly be overseen, it is most likely not bungies fault.

It has something to do with your console, could possibly be many things (keep in mind the failure rate etc. Laser power -variable resistor, too low?) etc..

You people whine on and on and your issue, expecting a company to fall to your feet. You slag them off after 3 Years of work.

Personally Halo 3 is good, best game ever, but it was hyped a bit too much, nevertheless the best game out and will be for a long time...For me halo 2 in HD and x360 support would be enough but they went a long way (theatre, forge etc.)!

What bungie have to do for you DRE problems is address it, figure what went wrong, if it is hardware fault, if its in their control to fix, etc.
They CANT tell you somethign they aren't sure on, thats why they havent addressed it. If they admit fault, and inturn it turns out to be a hardware fault, tats not good business for them. If they deny fault and it turns out its a software fault, again not good business. They can't tell you what you want to hear, because it will incriminate them if they get it wrong... Be patient, they ARE aware of it, mark my words, they ARE working on it, and from gathered information, its a HARDWARE fault.

Tell me, just how many of you with DRE problems is over 16 ? (16 is the -uk- ESRB rating for the game right? -pal-) you act like 12 Year olds, i think they shouldn't fix it with the attitude you guys have towards it... You waited years for this game, its not hard to wait a few more weeks or a month...

Whats even funnier is, the more negative you are about things, the more youll be prone to problems like this in future. My xbox for example, was from the FIRST batch, back in 2005, from spain (pal europe). To date, i havent had a problem, no overheating no nothing...and no improved over the years hardware as some of you will have improved hardware on newer consoles....the oldest x360 tech is workign PERFECT for me....problem free...

You guys exadurate things and bring a bad name to xbox, you want the Sony guys to be clapping when they read yoru DRE posts...Its a problem for you, make it a POSITIVE thing. And I GUARANTEE it will be fixed sooner than later.
Negativity and exaduration delays things. You can only blame yourselfs.

Meanwhile, I've complete campaign on Normal, got loads of acheivements, MC dies in the end. That must have been BIGGEST business decision they made, (instead of producing a halo 4 they killed MC of!) <<-- SPOILER

Enjoy, and dont forget, STAY POSITIVE, and things will start to go in your favour. WHo knows, maybe, just maybe you DRE problem people, will get something exclusive as a gift in their sincere apologies. Keep that in mind....(could be anything between collectors items or extended xbox live for 1 yr...who knows? ;))

Thanks,

Enjoy...

Will be hittin Xbox live on monday (to upload my acheivments and play matchmaking!!!)

Holla

Wheelman for hire

hehehe....... i lurve the Hayabusa helmet. I just wish you could do the IWHBYD faster, with a mongoose or something. That was too much walking!

and I realize that most of the multiplayer achievements are in lone wolfs to prevent friends just letting other friends do it, but still. wow. i played a total of 10 rumble pit games on halo 2, throughout all of the rank resets, and I still prefered team games. So I, like many MANY other halo 3 players, will not have most multiplayer achievements, ftl.

To: HeWhoLurksInTree & Agrestial

I am not pointing my finger at anyone as I clearly stated in my first post; I am simply trying to find answers. It appears as though neither one of you has even taken the time to really read what, just about all of the people who are experiencing DRE's with Halo 3, are even saying. We do not think it is a problem with the discs themselves. Below is my experience up to this point and mine alone. The severity of the DRE's and it's side effects vary from person to person. The one constant with all of us is, we are receiving DRE's with Halo 3. All I ask is that you hear me out and try to put yourself in our position...

My 360 worked completely fine until I put Halo 3 in for the first time. When I initially tried to play the game, I was notified that an update was needed in order to play Halo 3. Now, that didn't really leave me with much of a choice if I ever wanted to play the game that was the sole reason why I bought a 360. I DL'd the update and my console rebooted. To me, it did not seem as though it ran as long as past updates have but, I was not purposely timing it so I could not say for sure. So the '3' splash screen loads up and immdeiately I receive my first DRE. A couple of times, I got a message in about 8 different languages on a white screen with a message similar to 'To play this disc, put it in a 360 console'. I thought that was extremely odd since I had never received any DRE's (or any other errors like those) before.

Out of curiosity, I tried some of my other games that I knew always played perfectly fine for me. What I found puzzled me; Rainbow Six Vegas - audio suddenly cuts out now, Tiger Woods 07 - tries to load the main menu but locks up every time once two circles are filled in the progress bar, Dead Rising - sits at a completely black screen and does not even load the Capcom splash screen. Immediately I thought it may have to do with the update and tried to sign in to Xbox Live to see there was any way I could try to download it again. To my surprise, I now receieved a message stating that it could not connect. I look at xbox.com and notice that the servers are experiencing slow times due to heavy traffic. I called Xbox support and was on the phone with them for over 2 hours. We tried numerous possible fixes only to find none of them worked.

The next day, I exchanged my copy of Halo 3 for a brand new one and hoped for the best. I loaded the game and was thrilled once I was able to get to the main menu. I started up a campaign, watched the first few cut scenes then quickly experienced another DRE. There is not a single scratch, mark, speck of dust or imperfection anywhere on this disc that I can see, and I've inspected it thouroughly numerous times. The DRE problems I am experiencing now are not limited just to the Halo 3 disc. As I mentioned, my console no longer plays the majority of my games (that used to play perfectly fine) like it should anymore. I also tried to play a downloaded demo version of NHL2K7 with no disc even in the tray. To my utter disbelief, I received a DRE immediately after the NHLPA splash screen; a DRE telling me to clean the disc with a soft cloth for a demo that was running directly off of my HD.

Now, ask yourself a couple of questions...

Seeing that these DRE issues seem to have all emerged at roughly the same time, is it possible something that has to do with Halo 3 caused all of these issues?

Is it likely that there is much more to this than a simple batch of bad discs?

If either MS or Bungie was ABSOLUTELY sure they were not responsible in any way, shape or form for the DRE's so many people are experiencing, don't you think they would have released some form of statement/acknowledgement by now so as to clear their name as soon as possible?

Taking all of this into consideration (especially the last question), is it really that far fetched that we are looking for answers on this forum as well as in the Xbox forum?
