I like the ideas Drearden. One thing I want to see for XBL communication is the ability to use multiple channels. Not only for choosing team, all, etc. but going so far as to be able to talk with only certain players. Here's a quick scenario, you and your two friends. . . uhh. . . Bill and Belle are playing Halo2 over XboxLive together. You guys like to talk a lot because all of you try to use certain tactics and coordinate your movements. You are playing in a large game with 16 people. Your constantly hearing miscellaneous remarks, smack talk, and little tactical info. With so much talking, you can barely hear your friends and coordinating your moves is now very difficult. Three scenarious could take place after this:
1) You forget about being tactical and zerg (thoughtless charging) the rest of the match. You have little success
2) You don't have any special channels, so you simply toggle 'ignore' for everybody else on your team except Bill and Belle. Wait, something important has just happened, the enemy has the flag/ your allies need protection while running the flag! You press up on your D-pad, then right, then up twice, then press a, and a to confirm and repeat for the others and. . . *KACHOW* you got sniped while standing still. The enemey makes off with the precious flag/your ally is shot in the back meters from the base.
3) You tell Bill and Belle to go to a private channel no. 3. You, Bill and Belle are spared the spam and can coordinate your movement. The blues got the flag again! The three of you quickly switch to the team channel on your D-pad and ask about the flag. Mast3rCh3f tells you that they're in a warthog near the tall hill. The three of you blow up the hog and return the prized flag.
A little complicated, I know, but I think it would be very useful when playing with a small group of friends in a much larger game.
