OK. The earth is also known as 'the ark', which means that when the Halo rings fire, earth will survive. you know, like noah's ark. Which might also imply that humans are descended from the 'forerunners' - irony for the covenant, but bungie like irony. that would explain why the rings have such 'intemperate weather', and look just like earth environments, and (if you've read the books) the chief is mysteriously and instinctively able to work out how forerunner artefacts and technology works.
It also might mean that there really does exist a 'great journey'. irony for the humans, but bungie like irony. when the rings fire their combined firepower, this might open up a parallel universe. so humans and covenant may have to fight together against a more powerful enemy in the new environment. maybe fight against the forerunners who have before made the great journey? ha, what an irony that would be. but bungie like irony. because human vs covenant, human vs flood, elites vs brutes and elites vs flood would be a bit repetitive for another whole game.
maybe, just maybe, the giant venus fly trap flood chief will find a way to survive with cortana. and cortana will be fused or taken over by the flood. whatever happens, cortana will not disappear in halo 3, but i don't think she will be on the chief's side, except maybe if she changes her mind at the end of halo 3 and sacrifice herself to save the chief. although she is not made of flesh and blood, i think that the giant flood plant will find a way of preventing cortana from detonating the in amber clad to destroy the ring. maybe all he needs is to get a flood host with a neural implant to upload cortana into it. maybe upload her into him?

i had a few guesses about halo 2's plot and wasn't too far wrong on some of them! any comments?

yeah. You make you way back to earth. The whole world is warned of this halo center, to keep them form getting to it for the hell of it. You get to here, only to relize the moniter lied to you, and you are faced with thousands of Flood. You embark to another halo, to find this center. Once you get to it, after fighting all new covenant (don't forget, Elites are with us now, remember last halo 2 level, ("unexpected alliance"), you find the real center, relizing it's on the covenants homeworld. Gulp. He risks his life getting to their planet, with the Elites aid (thank you bungie), you easily get to the center, destroy it and comply to destroy their planet. You then discover another halo, the controller, has overloaded, and you must get to it. The suspense builds, as you pilot to the halo, fighting off the covenant (Elites), and avoiding other obstacles, with a time limit. You shut down this halo, and return home. There, the Chief dies of a long horror filled life with the flood, covenant, forrunners, etc. The war is over, leaving the last 5 spartans (first strike) to remain.

P.S. What about Kelly and Doctor Hasley? Something should happen with them here, in this game. Don't you think?

Any other ideas?

That was about the stupidest thing i have ever read (2nd post).

The first guy has some pretty good ideas, if Earth is the Ark that would explain why the Covenant doesnt just destroy the planet but instead invades. Possibly the MC is the key to opening the Arks powers...As you should hv seen in HALO 2 Tartuas made Commander Steele use the Icon instead of just doing it himself, also what is this "reclaimer" notition that Guilty Spark speaks of all the time? Im not going to make any real guess becuz the plot can take many different roads, however the story line for Halo 3 is looking good.

Halo 3's plot should be the final war to save earth. What Halo 2's plot was first promised as...

Ok what I was lead to beleive. And yeah i expected it to be a god damn apcolypse and that MC would be saving the earth and there would be a big ass invasion b/c every time Bungie commented on the game they said the focus would be earth. Click this link http://www.freewebs.com/microsoftscammedme/ b/c this guy is exactly right.

Well I work for a major national newspaper which is SO famous that I'd better not mention who we are. But all three of us have been throwing rocks at Bungie's windows to try and get them to tell us about what's going to happen in Halo 3.

Here's our exclusive news!

1. NO more buggers!

They must all get wiped out by the world's biggest insect repelant or something because the guy who went to the window said to us "Bugger off!".

2. New moves!

We're not so sure about this one but the same guy told us about a new move the Chief might be able to do which allows him to stick his head up his ass. He definitely said something like that...

3. Cortana has affair with the UK Home Secretary David Blunkett and uses his power to get the Master Chief a new visa card in under 20 days!

And you call us sensationalist? ^_^

4. The Human's launch a pre-emptive strike on the Covenant home world.

It's believed that the Covenant may be hardbouring chemical, biological and nuclear capabilities and may attack Earth with only 45 minutes notice! President re-ellected after critisisms of scaring the voters into voting for his party.

5. Master Chief Ate My Hamster!

6. Master Chief arrives in Blood Gulch to save the present and get Church out of the Marathon past.

7. Sargeant Johnson reveals what being patted on the butt by an elite feels like.

8. Master Chief repeatedly refers to things as being "groovy".

9. The Arbiter arrives at the base where a stronghold of the flood are being stored and utters the immortal line: "I hope it's not Chris's flood."

--

Now you know. ^_^

OK I don't think this will be in Halo 3 - but it should be!

Pay attention Bungie - not that many ppl will read this post so you could still use this idea :)

The Chief is Spartan #117, right? So aren't there meant to be other spartans? Is there only 1 spartan at a time or different ones for different areas?

Well whatever it is, my idea would still work...

How about MC comes across another Spartan (maybe he was missing in action?) and he (or she?) team up at some points. (If it was a female - maybe Cortana get's jealous?).

So then maybe there is yet another Spartan that starts off on your side - but then as the plot goes on we find out that he's gone a little crazy and is actually working against you! You could have all kinds of interesting plot twists involving that, as the player gradaully learns the truth. It would also make for a very challenging arch nemesis.

Clearly at some point the crazy spartan kills the other new spartan - making him into a real bad guy. That way, by the end of the game you would still only be left with the 1 original Master Chief.

There are other Spartans. Most died in the fall of Reach. I think there really are maybe three left (not sure didnt finish third book).

there originally were like 130 spartans i think.halfd died cuz theyt could not handle the augmentation, some died cuz of other crap and then like another 10 or so died at reach. And if you read the third book you would know that the covenant did not completly glass reach.they left a spot that had some sort of forerunner thing on it and there were still spartans left in there.plus there were like 9 other spartans and dr.hasley or w/e that were in an underground facility that did ot get destroyed. So you do the math.there are still lots of spartans left over and i dont know what the hell happened to them in halo2.so maybe they will make an appearance in halo3,i dunno.all we can do is wait and see because we know that bungie isnt going to release any information, unless it is at one of those convention things. But the last time i read that book was like 9 months ago at least so iam a little bit shaky.what i dont get though is how johnson survived the first halo because when the pillar of autum detonated he was fighting with an elite over an assult rifle.

I personally believe that the Prophet of Truth is infected by the flood. That's why on the last level with MC, his voice starts sounding strange. Like when Capt. Keyes was infected.

Read the beginning of the book, he found a peilcan and was able to escape, Creepest. That sequence was put into the game because it was too provide humor, not to advance the plot.

Ok, here's what happens
Halo 3:
The Master Chief, while slowing into a stable orbital speed in the Forerunner ship around Earth, spends an hour looking for his shoes, which he took off to rest.

Halo 4:
The Chief eats a sandwich in the Forerunner ship, still in orbit. Bungie introduces "Dual Face Stuffing," but the player can no longer use a gun, because the Chief's craws are always full of sandwich in this installment: "I'm going to.... finish... (munch munch) mm that's good.... fight, you bastards. Eventually."

Then around Halo 7 or 8 MAYBE, JUST MAYBE the Chief lands on Earth and "takes the fight to the Covenant on Earth and back to the Covenant homeworld." But I wouldn't hold my breath, or you might die. Because that will be in about 27 years at this rate, and you can probably hold your breath for about 3 minutes before you pass out.

Are you picking up my feelings about Halo 2? If not, consider yourself fairly stupid.

I don't even think bungie knows how teh story will go, they're not even sure they're making a Halo 3. For all you know they could just leave you hanging with Halo 2, and you make up your own ending. Or maybe a book will come out. Bungie has only started CONSIDERING if they'll even make a halo 3. Much less make up a story for it.

if u read the first book and thier graduation ceremony the trainer guy and Mc are talk and MC asks what he is going to do next and the trainer replies that he was off to traint he next bunch (25 yrs before the covenant, surely alteast one more group was made) so i think it would kick ass if the was a whole squad of them, plus what the hell happened to like the last 6 or so spartans from the third book? surely they survived and yea what about kelly and the doctorI HOPE U READ THIS BUNGIE MEN!!

about the other spartans - there were some interviews on the gamespy site in the week leading to halo 2's release, and in one of them, joe staten said that there are discrepancies between the books and the game, like the existence of other spartans. so they have made conscious decisions not to include them in the game. i think the fact that this game did not even acknowledge that other spartans existed means that we shouldn't expect to see kelly, fred or the others in a sequel. personally, i think it might have been fun to allow you to play one of the other spartans during co-op play. but maybe you should think of the relationship between the books and the game like you do with a book and a film. sometimes the film just changes the plot and misses out big chunks of the book. other spartans would probably just spoil the gameplay by making it too easy.

The only thing I really want to do in Halo 3 (if they make it soon) is to fight on earth for a longer time, explore, etc. A lot of people give Halo 2 (campaign) crap because of the ending but the game is very good and leaves you wanting more..although I was a little sad with it...I liked the game overall...However, no squeal can live up to the original...because it was fresh and new...neither can a remake...all I ask is that you get to fight on earth for a little longer, maybe? And that the game comes out soon. That's it

God willing we'll all meet up again in Halo 3: The Search for More Money. :)

I say the next one should take place 1 million years after the events of Halo 2 and the player assumes the character of some kid called "Fusiag" who learns about what happened by way of flashbacks, alternate events and from contrasting sources until he learns of a way to travel back in time and discover what happens for himself.

He then meets Master Chief and they have sandwiches.
