All of my questions are plot-oriented, and relate to Halo 2 and 3 because, well, they're the same story arc.
1. In Halo 2, Cortana decides to stay behind to destroy Delta Halo by detonating In Amber Clad/High Charity in the event that the ring is activated. When Miranda is forced by Tartarus to activate the ring, why doesn't Cortana sense that the Halo is charging up/priming to fire, and detonate In Amber Clad/High Charity? She should have done it right then and there, as she had know way of knowing that the Arbiter and Miranda would be able to stop the firing at the last possible moment.
2. Also, in Halo 2 Johnson and Miranda are both witness to the fact that the Covenant need humans/Reclaimers to activate the rings. So in Halo 3, when Truth and the Covenant fleet enter the portal above the ruins of New Mombasa to go to the Ark, why does the UNSC follow? Given that there are two witnesses that know humans/Reclaimers are required, why would they put themselves in danger of being abducted and forced to activate the Halo network? They should've known that the Covenant can't do anything without them, and that they should just stay home and fight the flood.
3. Lastly, at the end of Halo 3, I'm assuming that the hangar section of Forward Unto Dawn did not make it through the portal to return to Earth. Thus, the Chief and Cortana are still on the outer rim of the Milky Way galaxy, and still within the kill-radius of the new Halo. So how did the Chief survive the activation of the ring? Did the ring actually fire, or did it simply blow up, thus destroying the flood?
Other than these nagging quetions, I love the fiction you guys have created. Keep it up.
