whats the deal with the melee? it almost seems like the guy who gets the first hit in most of the time loses. like the beatdown is countered and you're sent flying 50 ft. is this a gravity glitch, or just for embarassment?
also, sometimes i notice people lunge from great distances, other times no lunge at all.
I know this same question has probably been asked 100 more times in this thread but I dont have the time right now to read 100+ pages. I have noticed this as well, melee seems slightly glitchy. Me and an opponent run straight at each other, firing roughly the same ammount of AR bullets into each other, and I hit the melee first. I get a satisfying SMACK!, but a split second later my opponent melees me and I die. At first I chalked it up to my opponent probably getting an extra shot or two in, but this scenario happens to me alarmingly often, and with many weapon setups. In a particular saved film of a hammerzeit game I played last night( which I can provide as evidence), two seperate occasions of odd melee behaviour are obvious. In one, I quite clearly score a direct hit on another player, and yet 4 frames later their attack decends on my head and kills me(we were both at full shields). In the second instance, watching frame by frame, you can see my character(an elite model, by the way) go through the hammer swing animation. A few frames before my attack should land, the animation suddenly jumps backwards two frames-it looks like I swing the hammer half way and then bring it back and swing again-which of course results in my death.
Everything described in this post happened at green latency, by the way. So my question is, is there a known issue with melee? Do I just suck that bad(I highly doubt this, I am reasonably proficient in both Halo 1 and 2)? Is this somehow related to the limited edition disc scratching? My disc is slightly scratched, but I haven't sent for a replacement because the game has(as far as I know) run flawlessly. Is the scratching somehow causing this odd behaviour?
And despite this beef, you guys can pat yourselves on the back. You made quite the masterpiece with this one.
