I read the first couple posts on here after googling "bungie stats not updating," and saw that everyone is having problems getting their stats to update. So I figured Bungie, already getting smashed with terabytes of backed up information, doesn't need another person b****ing about their stats, so I wasn't going to post. Then I read about 7 of of Intrepids 50 posts on this thread and cracked up so hard that I figured I'd post. First off, yea I'm in college and don't have a lot to do so I play Halo a lot and want my stats updating. But Mr. Intrepid, who is obviously a highly responsible professional that seems to think these "lesser intelligent data entry workers" are slacking off. I'm only wondering how a responsible professional, who clearly has many important responsibilities to attend to is crying to Bungie because their stats are stuck at rank 11 after playing a good 140 games. For all you who are upset about it, thats fine, I am a little too. But those of you who need to spend three days straight responding to everyone explaining how you're so valid and correct about your hypotheses and that Bungie is a no good slacker company, you really need to get rid of your Xbox and go find something else to do with your life. The company is getting insane amounts of information sent and retrieved from them, not only from the games, but from all the high res screenshots people are putting on and off of their site. This is normal for an extremely popular game to have issues in the first week when over a million people are playing at once. Just realize that I guarantee Bungie knows what they are doing (they did make this awesome game with all the stats and theater in the first place didn't they?) and will get it sorted out wether it means you loose some stats or not. If you can't take it, go cry to someone who cares, because Bungie doesn't care about ignorant people. If they told us what was wrong, it would only create more issues and havoc with all the customers. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME A GAME HAS EVER HAD ISSUES! Actually, the game runs quite well, and I'm sure if you actually enjoy Halo, you will start playing the game and get good at it, and not worrying about your stats right away... or at least until you're not a noob anymore.

Thanks Bungie for releasing this AWESOME game and good luck on getting your servers back up. I'm looking forward to any releases you guys make in the future.

these people are unbelievable. Not one mention of the lack of communication from Bungie.

For the 50th time: Whether or not you, someone with no less or more importance than anyone else here, deem this as important or not as someone else, is irrelevant. It needs to work. End of story.

How far your personal level of satisfaction is affected by this, has nothing to do with it. Nor does your opinion on someone who does think it's a big deal. It's just rhetoric.

Not going to argue with you...don't have to. I live in reality, maybe I'll see ya here someday.

Now now, no need to use insults to dodge the point.

I didn't insult you.

I can see this derailing rather quickly... *sigh*

Get that a lot in conversations huh?

You stated that you're not too concerned and you don't think it's a big deal. So why are you posting here then? Nobody cares what you think about me...

Hello Bungie, I' m just posting to let you know I too am having the same problem. My stats haven't updated since 10/04. The only thing that has been recorded since are a few custom games... No ranked or social match updates and I've played at least 50-60 games since. Halo 3 is great! But I had a few really good games I'd like recorded that I hope aren't lost forever.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with this complaint guys.

How can you argue against this? You won't...but you'll argue against mine because it's detailed and strikes a chord. Don't shoot the messenger.

While I do not doubt there is a lot of information going through the servers, I am sure Bungie can handle to load considering how many Halo 2 games I've played.
I also doubt the issue has to do with the MS and Bungie slit considering so many games on xbox that are NOT published by microsoft. The issue more than likely has to do with When the xbox sends your info to the Bungie for the update. I sign onto live twice a day and most of my info is up-to-date... maybe it updates when you log into live? I know one thing -all ten of my games where the host was lost are recorded as a flippin negative point -so that works fine.
I think we should all just be patient. The servers obviously don't update two minutes after each game as in H2, but they still have a wealth of information.

I didn't even realize this Intrepid guy has like 65 gamer points. My friends treat me like a noob and I'm about 2700. Give me a break. Why don't you go work on that instead of adding to the volumes of jargon that nobody really cares about anyway.

sigh...

I don't even know what to say at this point, other than to just go start playing a new game with a new community.

Did you not read the majority of these posts? Some of us haven't had stats recorded in a WEEK. Further, some have been unable to get into MM for a WEEK.

Just sitting here being patient hasn't yielded us any results in a week. I understand that you're not in the same boat as far as how bad the problem is, but this only further exasperates the problem. Some people have unaffected results, others have horribly effected results. That's a BIG problem when you sold the same product to all of those customers.

That's it...there's no possible rebuttal here. Anyone who bought the game has every right to be as upset as they want. Want someone thinks about that personally, has nothing to do with anything. It's rhetoric.

  • 10.08.2007 3:09 PM PDT

a buh!

I have hade the same problem too no stats updated from the 4th of October, however my stats from today are now online but there is nothing from the games I played on the 5th, 6th and 7th of October. Hopefully the missing games will be updated if not c'est la vie

Rhetoric...has nothing to do with anything in this thread. Doesn't even mention the problem.

If someone set up a new live account strictly to play Halo 3 this month, they deserve less stat tracking?

Of course not...mods, feel free to delete his post. It might as well be 700 "letter a" characters in a row. It says nothing.

Anyone who has a problem with my posts, HAS to have a problem with this post. Of course, I think it's totally valid.

He states, if his stats are missing he's going to another game. I've stated the same and some have gone nuts. Have to go nuts here too then or you're a hypocrite.

Wrong. If the stats just start working again tonight but we still have days of missing data and others don't...this will only get worse.

It doesn't solve a big part of the problem.

You have to 1) Catch up on any data that's missing and THEN 2) make sure you don't miss another beat.

You can't just continue like it didn't happen...

Anyone who claims to have expertise on the technical aspects of the data recording system that's in effect here, who does not agree that what this guy is saying (and hundreds of others have claimed similar things) is evidence that we're not just talking about "backlogged data" is out and out lying.

Anyone can see here that this doesn't add up logically...

edit: I'll add, there has been less than 300,000 people on Halo 3 all day and all last night. There was 1.5 million 2 days ago. If someone thinks this is not effecting a LOT of people and that a LOT of people are not playing because of this, they're just fooling themselves. Don't know why...might as well sit in the bathroom for 3 days for no reason...it's not accomplishing anything.

I wasn't gonna post, but today noticed something new (for me anyway)

Like the others, no updates to stats since the 3rd. Which was annoying as I'd played a fair bit since then and got several awards etc.

Today, after getting drunk, I played a game. Badly.

Now, the site has updated to my normal exp rank, and has basically updated this one game. However the games inbetween the one today and the 3rd of Oct are missing. I'm hoping they get uploaded eventually, or at least we get some message telling us there was a problem and the data was lost.

And like many others, I managed to get a few awards that should have yielded achievments. like managed to get a Perfect in one game, as well as a 18 kill streak, but didn't get the killing frenzy achievement! Kinda annoying!

But after alls said and done, Kudo's for bungie making a game that is pretty cool. I remember my first days of quake, on dialup. I thought it was a good day when I could press fire and see the gun shoot 2 secs later. Even better if I killed someone! That's presuming I got into a multiplayer match as well!

Yet MORE evidence that Bungie thinks the solution here is to just have the stats start working again. This does nothing to address the days of missing data in between.

It's not ok to have 10 people's stats all recorded, and 3 people's not. Sorry, but you know this bungie. And from your online activity dropping down to 1/3 of what it was 2 days ago, and many people here stating they'll go to another game if their stats don't show up accurately, you know that this is not a minor issue for many, many people. Orange Box comes out in 2 days and COD4 comes out in 3 weeks. If this isn't rectified by then...I know I won't be here anymore.

Meh, I thought the stat updating thing was just happening to me. I'm glad (well not glad) that it's happening to more than just myself. It's not really that big of a deal, I just wanted to see some of the medals that my friends and I earned in social games on the 5th. It's disappointing that they never made it online. As time passes I doubt more and more that they'll ever show up. I also wish Bungie would just update and let us know what's up... I mean if they really respect this community, they should let us know a little bit about what is going on or what is being worked on, even if it contains no real groundbreaking information... A little bit is better than nothing.

  • 10.08.2007 3:19 PM PDT

A lot of the "Give them time, there's a lot of data to sort through" ignores the broader question--namely, why is this even an issue? Why are medals, kills, and deaths not recorded locally by the game profile? I'm assuming they're not based on the comment amounting to "If you're not on Xbox Live, your data is not recorded." If they were recorded locally by your profile, I'd imagine Bungie would've wasted no time stating "Your medal chest and kills/deaths are all backed up locally and immune to any upload/server problems."

For a comparison (and apparently more intelligent way of stats tracking), see Super Smash Bros. Melee, which recorded dozens of different statistics for the lifetime of a player's profile. I've certainly been led to believe that Xbox Live is capable of many things. I'd think it'd be relatively simple for XBL to upload your latest local stats to some public display at Bungie.net everytime you sign in to Xbox Live or Halo 3 or Matchmaking or whatever. That would have presumably placed much less of a burden on the Bungie.net servers and also made it immune (at least on a large scale) to corruption or data loss. Sure, some things like the locations of kills and deaths on the map would have to be catalogued by Bungie, but that's largely unimportant data anyway.

As for me, I've had only random updates to any of service record since Oct. 4. No updates to medals, kills, or deaths since at least Oct. 4. My EXP has updated once since then last I checked.

The fact that people like Intrepid and all you other whiners actually take the time to log in, read this crap, declare it "newsworthy", and treat it like it's affecting your lives and is actually relevant to all of you in a serious way makes me sad. You know whats newsworthy? Starving children in Africa, politics, cats stuck in trees, drive-by shootings. That's the crap you SHOULD be thinking about.

You all know Bungie as a shining pinnacle of what game developers can create these days and they've been doing it for years. THEY WILL FIX IT. This issue has been going for like what? A week? maybe? Calm the mother -blam!- down.

Really, I should be thinking about cats stuck in trees...??? I would rather be sticking up for the little guy that is just asking for an update on the situation. As any large organization with millions of users knows, updates on feature outages are important. No matter how much you want it to go away it won’t. We all appreciate the likely work being done to resolve this. But it’s hard to be too sympathetic when you are left entirely in the dark.

yea, I was playing for awhile, and my bungie service record never updated, and when it did eventually update its issing a bunch of my stats, such as medals, and a lot of the games ive played too. The only thing that really updates on bungie is the military rank thing, even then it takes forever

My stats started updating today, but i have a few days worth missing, but if it doesn't come back, then oh well. I personally think that Bungie isn't required to answer our questions about problems, or even pay attention to our complaints. To be honest, we should just be happy with how much they listen to us as it is, since it is way more than just about any other company listens to their followers. Seriously people, just be happy you have stats to start off with, and stop saying that bungie NEEDS to provide answers, because they don't NEED to tell us anything or to do anything to solve any problems with the game. In fact, I believe that they should just leave the game as it is until people stop -blam!-ing about every little thing in the game...since it really isn't that important.
