^ Yes it is very interesting. This means that Bungie is either NOT working on the problem, or they are working on the problem, and are just neglecting the millions users. Either way, its not a good outcome for them. A third option is that they are working on some update to the stats system and expected this to happen. this just means that they are keeping secrets....as usual.
Well...I really hope that this wasn't the case. I really hope some of us, who realized the problem early, have not been sitting off the game for 3+ days, rotting here on the forums, trying to find out what's going on...if this was a planned, internal systems change. If they let us go through that knowing what was going on the whole time and saying nothing, I'm returning their product. End of story. I don't care how addictive it is.
Further, what about the people who haven't even been on the website? What about the people who have played hundreds of games during this time with no knowledge of this issue occurring? Imagine if they find that they could have avoided all of that missed rank/stat tracking/etc if Bungie only would have told them that they were going to be servicing the stat tracking system and/or working on a MM connection problem?
Now of course this is all speculation...and even if this isn't the case we're still left sitting here for days, holding the bag, waiting for answers. So nothing is solved, but perhaps we're starting to scratch the surface of something really, really dirty here.
My concerns also come from experience- The pattern of no response, followed by one that doesn't answer anything or even address the original question/problem, further followed by another response that attempts to feed us anything we'll accept no matter how ridiculous it is, and then concluded with further silence...never equates to "the problem just works out and everything goes back to wonderland". Never. Every other time, in anything, that I've seen this pattern it meant that there was some kind of major issue and the party responsible was busy formulating a PR strategy to instill some damage control.
Like the original point in this post...this is of course just speculation. But unfortunately, that's all some of us can do related to Halo 3 right now. Sit on the forums and speculate..while we wait with trepidation for some kind of response.
Let me ask you guys something- Did they have any sort of stat tracking like this in the Beta? Or did they just wait to see how it worked once the game released? If it's the latter, they deserve this...what did they expect? The problem however, is that we the consumers do not deserve this. We didn't make a bungle here...Bungie did...with the biggest media release in electronic entertainment history.
