my exp has gone down again after going back to normal this morning what is going on
This has been stated numerous times in this post... What is happening is that older games that weren't being processed correctly are now being looked at again. When a game is processed, the database updates your stats as if that game just happened and the date on your stats like rank and such is set to when the game was processed, not when the game was played (seems this should be an easy fix to me, but I don't know how the database is setup). Thus when the system puts the information on the top of the page, it looks at what rank you were most recently, and since the most recent rank you were was whatever you were during the older game, it will show up as lower exp. The thing that is important, is that this is only an issue with reporting on the web site. Your actual exp is stored safely somewhere else and will show up correctly in game. But for the time being, until they fix the issue with bad game data (this is what forces them to go back and re-examine games), then this will probably happen every once in a while. Give them some time and they will fix it. It is just that with over 1 million people playing everyday, it is going to take some work to make sure people can still play the game itself. Personally I don't mind having my stats updated being delayed a while as long as I can keep playing. Now if they had to completely shut the system down for a week to fix everything, I would not be so happy. If you look at your Career Stats - Rating History, that should at least show you what rank you are. The exp being reported may still be wrong, but that will be corrected as a newer game gets processed. But like I said, remember that in game, your stats are all correct. This has happened to me a few times and every time when I go play a new game, my stats get corrected back to what they were.
Anyway, enough of my ranting... listen to the overlords...

The missing games should be starting to process now, and should gradually start appearing in your game history. Processing speed is dependent on load of new games, but shouldn't take more than two days to process through all of them.
A side effect of this is that the web site will probably show a bit wonky experience level for you while it is reprocessing your games. However, after it is done processing the missing games, you just have to play any game of Halo 3 and t he experience will be updated on the website to it is proper value. This is a consequence of processing games from a few days ago, but is a minor display oddity, not actually real data loss. So, don't get scared, your efforts to get rank are not being erased.
