I just like to start by saying that Bungie.net rocks my world.. one of the most awesome ideas ever in allowing video playbacks. Now I'm not sure if anyone else has brought this up but, I think it would be awesome to allow playback of these videos via PC. I'm sitting at work right now with some time to kill and I wish I was able to view some of these videos that the community has uploaded, including my own that I'd like to show some co-workers. Bungie, would there be any possibility of allowing video playback via PC? I think that would be really awesome, like our own Halo3Tube :).. What does everyone else think?

Considering the video playback actually uses the Halo 3 engine for playback, how do you propose this working on a PC without porting the entire engine to the PC?

Well, I don't know much about video compression etc, but I'm sure the Bungie guys can think of something O.o..

It's not the compression or anything that is the problem here, it is possibly the far more difficult thing to manipulate on a PC. The game data itself. A PC would not be able to play the videos since the videos are pure game data of a game.

=\.. Well it definately makes sense to not actually have a "video" recording of the game, or else we'd have some huge video files.. But I mean is there no possible way to allow the file to be rendered into a video format prior to uploading? Maybe not for the Films but atleast the clips?

I am aware that it's not an actualy video file, because we can still change camera angles etc when viewing them.

Because such a feature could (if not properly designed) allow someone to digitize and upload their HD-DVD collection (not kosher) or their favorite pr0n DVD.

So you are saying that doing that to my favorite pr0n DVD is kosher? :P

You just clicked on "reply" without reading the thread to this point.... didn't you?
No... PC implies Windows only to me. So I'm saying Linux and OS X should be supported.

it still would be sweet if they were viewable on a computer though. or at least, downloadable via torrent or something.
