Note: I couldn't find the previous thread, or I would have posted this in it. Sorry.

Last time I had a discussion about World of Warcraft on these forums, I bashed it extensively. Thing is, I was only thinking about the bad times I had with it.

See, Blizzard has done something truly amazing with a genre that I hate. They've created an MMORPG that I really could just sit down and play, and not worry about whether or not I levelled up, accomplished a quest, or anything like that. I could just sit around mining for 5 hours and talking with my guild, and walk away from the computer satisfied. Even if it was incomplete, it was beta. I'm sure they can patch it all up.

There was also this big problem I had with PvP. It wasn't really as bad as I made it out to be. On the non-PvP server, I had some times with consensual raids. There were so many hilarious happenings between Tarren Mill and Southshore, so many laggy battles that put my computer on the brink of crashing but still managed to be fun. I remember, quite clearly, a campaign that me and a good friend of mine started, in which we finally took out Jaina Proudmoore. They were good times, and I had some serious fun toying with the Alliance with my distinct advantages over them with Water Breathing/Walking.

You may have also noticed that I completely ignored the true enormity of the world. The truth is, WoW looks incredible. You really do get the feeling you've travelled a long way when you work your way from Ashenvale through Stonetalon and into Desolace, or even from the Salt Flats into Feralas. Hell, I've done some pretty crazy things around the world. I single handedly raided Ironforge and broke into the Deeprun Tram, then remained there scaring the Alliance. A few buddies and I had a lot of fun running around Dun Morogh when the 4th wave of new people came, as a lot of them haden't even seen a Horde member yet, but here we were, levels 40-60, riding mounts and turning into wolves, killing all of their monsters. I can even pride myself in being the first person ever to completely abuse the Water Walking spell. You can't imagine how excited I was when I saw it on the patch changes list! The first thing I did was slip it into my second action bar(I kept all of my utilitarian spells on it), then run around all of Azeroth with it. I saw all kinds of crazy things, including an abandoned farm-like test area. The next day, I decided my first trip was so much fun, I travelled around Kalimdor, fleed from some high level turtles/naga, saw what I believe to be Designer Island, and celebrated like crazy when I found out I was the first person anyone had ever heard of to do something that big.

So all in all, WoW isn't so bad. If I had any money, I'd probably buy it and pay that monthly fee. And even though I'm not into MMORPGs, I can definitely see why WoW would be somebody's favorite game. Try it out.

Officium quod Fidelitas.

If you want to try the game out, make your friend buy the collectors set, and then steal their free friend pass. =)

Sounds like a plan. Only, I have no friends. ;)

None that play PC games, anyway.
