Long live the Last Refuge!

i don't plan you buy crysis really i want to be able to run quake wars and halo 2 on highest setings, so im really guessing around 1k to 1.5k, but i want to get a top of the line so that i can get games that come out this year (forgot is was 08 already) and the one after that. (by the year after that I mean Halo 3 vista.)

See i don't have a gaming PC im stuck with the one my mom bought, so i need around 4k to buy all of the top of the line equipment to run crysis on max setings.

Not entirely true. If you know what you're doing, you can build a comp that can run Crysis on full at 1280x1024 very smoothly for around $1,500.

I only spent $800.

:/

Oh, in that case, probably $1,500 at the most (I didn't buy a new monitor or a new PSU, and I'm still using one of my old hard drives and my old optical drive).

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

1 million prossers!

It doesn't matter. What matters is what your mobo supports.

That's not entirely true, either. Since there is no PC that can run Crysis Ultra high at 1280x1024. Heck, the 8800 GTX barely runs 15 FPS on Ultra High DX10 at 1024x768.

I hope you know that we aren't dealing with individual processors ranging form 2 - 3 ghz. If you expect to be able to run crysis, you will need a dual core at the bare minimum. Quad-core would be nice if I could afford to buy a new motherboard for it. Anyway, i would guess that a decent dual 2ghz would cost something in the range of $150 to 250 depending on quality.

Prices all depend on what brand and socket your motherboard supports. My AMD X2 4200+ socket AM2 sells on Tigerdirect for about $80.00 while an Intel c2d socket 775 with about the same speed sells for about $120.00 on same site. So before you go asking about prices we need to know what brand and socket your motherboard supports.

Dude, based on experience, there is no person I know that has ever stuck to three games. I thought that all I would play is Halo PC and homeworld. Now I have probably 35 games on my hard drive. Don't underestimate the drive to have fun.
And like everyone said, it does matter what type of proc you want. So you might as well tell us lol.

Booyah, I have 45 games installed on my computer. I can name all of them, if you want...but that's just like a filibuster speech. Anyway, the only game i've played in the last month is Guild Wars because I'm so busy with college apps. Damn you education. The surprising thing is that these 45 games all fit on 280gigs of space. Sweet. Back on topic, has anyone noticed that the forums have been messed up for the last few days? I hadn't been able to login until today. Is this just me, or is it the site? I heard that Xbox Live has been having trouble the last few days, and was thinking that maybe the two are related.

Just run dxdiag and tell us what processor you have.

Yeah I haven't heard of anyone being able to turn Crysis all the way up and get playable framerates. Oh well, doesn't matter. Crysis is pretty "meh" anyways.

...Imho.

The important thing is to get a smarter mom first. Then after that look up on the manufacturers website what socket it is. Or you can go to run: type in "dxdiag" then tell us what processor you have.

I believe that's the AM2 socket, if it is you have a pretty good assortment to choose from for upgrades as long as your motherboard supports it. What brand and model # is your computer so we can help you out as far as what motherboard you have and what it will support.

actually I don't believe that's an AM2 socket. Did they even make a 3200+ for the AM2?

It should say on DXdiag even. If it's AM2 Bringit's right, you have a lot of options. If it's 939 FX-60 is your real limit.

Well it's Friday guys,

It means its that time of the week again. I'm sending my letter to the webmaster now. All we are demanding now is some recognition, by means of a button in the "community" tab. Either he'll give us some kind of response, or he'll have a lot of spam. Either way, my email is being sent now. Remember, people divided are nothing compared to a united community. I hope to get some people backing me up, otherwise I guess I'm going one man army.

Btw, on a side note, with GTA IV coming later this year, I thought I'd make a short video entitled GTA IV: Little Tortilla Boy.
I know its not really related to anything on the Halo forums, but its just something I enjoy on the side after I get tired of Halo. Hope you guys enjoy this short video.
