What it was "meant for" has no relevance whatsoever. It was released for the Xbox and the business decision was made to concentrate on the Xbox platform. To use an analogy, the drug sildenafil citrate was meant to treat heart problems instead it was released for Erectile Dysfunction. In both cases they were profitable business decisions.

Whose Decision? Bungie or M$'s?

The answer is M$. We can bag on them for selling out all they want but it's been Microsoft who ruined Halo 1, and, to a slightly lesser extent, Halo 2. Solly Challie.

Please Bungie, redeem yourself w/ Reach.
Halo 2 and 3 both stink out loud.
In the immortal words of Mr Horse: Halo 2? No sir, didn't like it.

Halo 1 PC was a complete and total disaster ~telengard

Sheesh, that's a little rough. Online play is a little buggy at times, but so are a lot of games.

I'm talking about the fact that there had to be 2 versions. The "custom edition" which seemed to have better netcode, the map editor etc couldn't be advertised by Gearbox as an official upgrade so it splintered the players. No idea why Bungie wouldn't let them do that.

And I stand by what I say. It was a debacle...

Wow,

I just checked my message inbox today, to find that I have two warnings from the Disembodied Soul, and I don't know why. anyway...

Btw, I just came back from my 3 day a**whooping on Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 2. I recommend that If your computer and support the game, that you buy the game RIGHT NOW!!! It's so much better than any of the Halo games on the PC. HL2:EP2 is so awesome, and much better than the episode 1.

Also, some ahole decided to start stealing my 10mb cable wireless internet connection. Any ideas of how to stop this guy? I think he's hacking through, because I have 64-bit encryption activated, yet he is still getting through. Anyone know how I can find out who is doing this?

Anyway, back to the main topic of this thread. Bungie had previously announced that they are going to divide their staff into several segments, each devoted to several different projects. Perhaps one of these projects is Halo 3 Vista? So far, it's all speculation, but when you're a neglected Halo series PC gaming audience, what else can you do but hope?

Weren't you just -blam!-ing about HL:2 and Ep:2 and all those valve games on another thread a few days ago? Or was that someone else?

As for your internet, look on the curb for any spray painted marks, some people use them to identify wireless users so they can steal free internet. If you notice a strange car parked on the side of the road throw a rock at it and see if that scares em away. You can also try peeking in your neighbors window. If they're on the net, turn off your wireless to see if they lose connection. If so, throw a rock. I guess calling the cops works too, just not as satisfying.

Why now? Mostly because The Septagon and Underground are getting spammed by Halo 3 whiner kiddies who want their precious EXP back.
Hahahahaha, I don't understand why you would have ever left us, dalmedders.

Hahaha, is this the kind of neighborhood where people often find their RAM stolen from their computers instead of rims from their cars?

UXB, you make some excellent points; Bungie, in my opinion, doesn't care about its PC gaming fanbase, but I don't think console gaming is bad; just merely inferior. I own an Xbox 360 and pay for an Xbox Live subscription. Still, Microsoft has been showing PC gamers plenty of crap when it comes to first-party support regarding the whole Windows - Live thing.

Interesting that you should bring this up, because I still believe that the orange box is a scam compared to the now discontinued black box. However, because my friend's birthday is coming up, I'm giving him Half-Life 2 and Ep1, because I already have them. :)

As for the internet problem, I live in an apartment building, so it could be anyone. I don't see any vans with antennas outside, so im pretty sure its actually my neighbor from across the hall. Anyway, I enabled Mac address filtering, so I'm good to go. Shouldn't have any problems with my connection anymore.

As I said if I were to guess it is not as much a matter of not caring as of having limited resources to develop for more than one platform. When you have to make business decisions like that one camp or the other will feel slighted.

Microsoft has been showing PC gamers plenty of crap when it comes to first-party support regarding the whole Windows - Live thing.

I am a long time PC gamer and was disappointed with the Windows Live integration: especially the pay for play features that are normally free with other multiplayer PC games. It is my opinion that these types of communities should arise spontaneously and not be forced into existence or dictated to by a corporation intent on selling you something. There is no reason why a free account should not be able to create a server or be invited into another’s game.

Unlike XBL where you need to have the servers run, on the PC platform it is the users who are expending the cost to run their servers and pay for the bandwidth and not MS. But I suspect that there is just not enough opposition to those features for them to stray from a model that has work with the Xbox.

I think Bungie is coming back to us PC gamers. I hear there's a Marathon remake or sequel in the works, and chances are high that it will be for the PC.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but anyway, I find it interesting how when I look in my Live Profile it shows that I have "Halo 2 (PC)." Because this game is tracked in the xbox live account, one would assume taht it would be tracked in the Bungie account stats too. WRONG!!! Despite the fact that my Bungie account lists Halo 2 and Halo 3, it does not list Halo 2 Vista. What is up with this? You would expect that because they have their name on the game, that they would help coordinate efforts a little bit. The PC future of Bungie so far appears to be non-existant.

I wonder how the Gears of War port will differ or compare to Halo 2 Vista. If we're lucky they will be done by the same type of people, I think Halo 2 Vista is my favorite game ever. The graphics and game play are excellent and it is almost flawless. Especially when you use the controller instead of the keyboard and rat. Hopefully it will be the same with Gears of War so I can have at least two good games for PC.

NO. No, no, no, no, no! Thank God Epic Games is actually going to be working on the port and that they're not out-sourcing it to some obscure third-party developer, that they're going to make a port worth a crap about, that they intend to add new bonus content, and that they're going to bring some hope back into Live. Halo 2 Vista was an absolute piece of crap; what are you smoking? I can't believe you would consider the graphics and game play excellent and nearly flawless when it is at best mediocre. "Especially when you use the controller instead of the keyboard and rat"? No, dude. Just no. You must never have played real PC games before.

Personally I've played Halo 2 for X-box since its release initially I hated halo for everything that it was worth then I played and really got into it.......NOW, the first time i've played the first Halo was for PC and I found it enjoyable in some aspects and found it atrocious in some, the online aspect of the lag and the complete IDIOTS creating these screwed up modded games that have so many weapons flying around that you lag out so bad that a snail could cross a six lane highway before you get a good accurate shot in...Single player is alright it was right on par for what I expected. I've not had the pleasure of Halo 2 vista and the reason being I don't believe that Microsoft and Bungie were in that for the fanbase it was the money, its a damn conspiracy, $60 for the game then if you're still running XP theres another $100 for the OS upgrade along with what memory that needs to be bumped up on top of that. It's absolutely ridiculous. Needless to say I WON'T be buying halo 2 vista for about another 5 years. I DO like consoles and I DO own a 360 and I haven't played halo 3 yet I'm kinda on the poor side. I'm going to leave with this. BUNGIE START PAYING ATTENTION TO US PC GAMERS! and for microsoft...-blam!- YOU, YOU MONEY GRUBBING -blam!-S!

This morning, I decided to wiki Bungie and see what I would come up with, and the results are somewhat surprising.

Wikipedia, the most reliable source of information, states that Bungie is...

"an American video game developer comprised of money-grubbing elitist tyrants founded in May 1991 under the name Bungie Software Products Corporation (more popularly shortened to Bungie Software) by two undergraduate students at the University of Chicago, Alex Seropian and Jason Jones. The company concentrated primarily on Macintosh games during its first nine years of existence. Bungie was acquired by Microsoft in 2000, becoming part of Microsoft Game Studios, until the two separated on October 1, 2007[1] (officially announced on October 5, 2007). Bungie is now a second-party developer."

Wow, if it weren't for the first sentence, I would say wikipedia is pretty reliable. Perhaps written by pc gamers?... just a thought.
