Well... guess we are going to see lot of independent "not bad but not as good as their Halo" games from Bungie and even more "not bad but not as good as Bungies Halo" Halo-games from Microsoft...

Well Congrats on this new direction you took. It would be great to see new IP from you guys! I just dont want any PS3 Fanboys to enjoy you games. So keep it in the xbox 360 and PC only.

If there's one thing I have learned in working with you, it's that there is always margin for error.

Congrats guys.

Hope to see more great things from you in the coming years in your quest for world domination.

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity

Guys,

Whatever happened in the background is of no importance now, all I can say is that I perceive the battle cry "Finish the fight" extended beyond the gaming realm, and indeed it has been finished.

I am happy to see Bungie become independent once again. That's how you make great things happen. There will be mistakes on the road ahead, but there will be success also. We, the fans, will try ti stick with you during the transition and during the period of creating new ideas, and better yet, testing them before they get unleashed to the rest of the world. Count me in.

In the meantime, we will see you in matchmaking!

Bungie,

Much love and much admiration goes out to you. Good luck in this recent endeavor to "individualize" yourselves. You have my blessings, my support, and my loyalties. You are a wonderful company, employing people with not only great unfathomable talents, but with huge hearts and much appreciation for your fan base. I speak only for myself, but I'm sure others will agree. We love you, Bungie :)

Great news. It's always nice to be able to create something without the man breathing down your neck. But, I wonder how much it cost you guys to buy your souls back from the devil...

Mother pus bucket!

Congrats Bungie... truly an impressive development.

BAM, said the lady!

Bungie Aeronautical Marine (BAM) since Marathon.

I own an original "Evolution of Bob" T-shirt. It celebrates the Marathon trilogy.

Bungie.net member since before 2006. (Had to reregister after the Myth days, for some reason.)

There and back again. A Bungie tale.

I'm glad you cleared that up. I was wondering what Bungie was going to do with "iced peanuts"

I am sure that MS has great publishing logistics setup. Right to first refusal? Would MS want bungie to create games that would also go to the PS3? This ought to be interesting.

I had a feeling this rumor was true when I first heard it. I was with you guys from the beginning (well, okay, so I played PiD but not as far back as Minotaur, lol). Anyways, I'm glad to hear you're head back to being independent. I expect great things from you guys. Congrats and good luck!!!

  • 10.05.2007 10:31 AM PDT

This makes no sense they were perfectly fine being with Microsoft now they want independence. I'm a xbox fan primarily and a bungie fan second
second they announce a ps3 , wii , ds or mac game im never purchasing their products.

So could this finally mean Oni 2 if they can get the rights back?

  • 10.05.2007 10:59 AM PDT

That's awesome. This may or may not mean future games on multiple platforms im sure. But I'm happy to see that you guys will stil focus on the 360 for the time being!!!

Disappointed. Sorry, but I gotta be honest here. You had the backing of the biggest company in the world who pushed you to make games of this standard. They are just as entitled to some of the praise that came your way in regards Halo and their faith in what you could achieve put you on the map in a big, big way.

I am willing to hope that this will, in the future, be a good thing. The only thing I hope never to see is non-Microsoft exclusives - it really would be a two fingers to all those XBox fans who put you in the position you are now.

Disappointed but very willing to be proven wrong! :)

  • 10.05.2007 11:04 AM PDT

Congrats Bungie! I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes out of this down the road.

Well said david... I still don't understand how Bungie just decided to leave MS. Didn't MS own them outright? Not just a majority stock holder.

CONFIRMED! Oni 2, exclusive for PlayStation 3, Summer 2008.

; )

That would actually kick ass.

EDIT -

Why would you care if Bungie made a game for Nintendo, Sony or Apple? Doing so, would allow more people to play their great games. Sheesh....fanboys....What's your deal?

Love you Bungie!
Still playing Halo1 Custom Edition!

Best. news. Ever.

It's weird though that noone "purchased" Bungie but that they were simply released.... anyway. LOVE YA BUNGIE!

From what I read in the bungie update, it means bungie will recieve more Freedom and will once again Rule! Can we expect bungie to grow and become a bigger company? releasing "more" than one title every 3 years? Imo, why not!

One thing caught my attention in the ext though:

We will continue to develop with our primary focus on Microsoft’s platforms; we greatly value our mutually prosperous relationship with our publisher, Microsoft Game Studios, and we look forward to continuing that affiliation through ‘Halo’ and beyond.”

Does that mean we can expect more Halo Titles now that the evil M$ is gone?

In fact, I would be glad if they made titles on other platforms. Of course I'm not saying they should abandon the 360 but well, Hitting the Nintendo and Sony markets could benefit them. Big time.
