I dunno if anyone else has this issue but when I am viewing the bungie.net site in firefox and try to navigate the site with the top menu itll occassionally freeze my browser for a 5-10 seconds and just is very slow to respond in general.

Don't send me group invites.

Yeah, I've had the problem too. It's only started doing that for about a week. I never had problems with it before that.

P.S. Thanks for the compliment.

Yeah, I assumed it was just my slow-ass computer, but I've been experiencing the same problem. Anyone experiencing it on Internet Explorer? Or is it just Firefox?

My Firefox is being really slow in the forums, but only when i go to individual threads. At times it will freeze. But only for a few seconds.

I don't think I've used IE much here, but I've been using FF and opera, and I used to have that problem a lot. I haven't noticed so much since the latest update, but I still get it every once in a while. I think getting rid of that scroll animation for the stats really helped things out.

I'm your huckleberry.

In my experience, bungie.net is just slow on all non-IE browsers, regardless of system specs. I love the info it provides (even though the game stats do not update in any reasonable time period) but it's the slowest site I've ever used by far. It has to be bad javascript. Even entering this message has been terribly painful since the text lags behind my keyboard by a good 4-5 seconds.

I actually have no problems with Firefox on my mac on this forum, but I have an issue with posting on the forum (or anything in general) in Safari 3 Beta on my Mac. (basically it gives me a website error, and nothing posts)

Yeah I have a feeling it has to do with bad javascript programming as well, gotta be something that non-IE browsers are having a difficult time rendering causing the slowdown.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

I had that problem until about 10 minutes ago. I just got the newest version of Firefox installed and it cleared up for me.

It comes and goes; right now, I can get it to work just fine; I flushed out my cache and sure NoScript was disabled, and it started working, so I dunno beyond that.

  • 10.08.2007 9:24 PM PDT

I have FF 2.0.0.7 and I see the same issues.

But I also have an ATi HD2900XT, and the driver crashes on some AJAX-enhanced websites, so I just attributed it to that.

My Firefox, is slow as all get up on the forums, I think I'm going to go insane. Actually today isn't as bad compared to the other days, that may have to do with the fact that we updated it.

That's because Firefox, Safari, and Opera have generally much worse performing Javascript implementations. I don't know where Firefox got a reputation for being a faster browser, because IE7's rendering and script engines are a lot faster when IE7 is running in standards mode.

Firefox does improve regularly, though, as you may have noticed.

I think it's because FF got that reputation before IE7 came out. I still get a lot of suspicious stares from my friends for asserting that IE7 is a great browser. Anyway...

I get the browser hang with FF 2.0.0.7, too, so it might not be related solely to the version of FF. It is an annoyance, but it's not too bad.

I've got no problems at all with my Firefox. Though I am on Win2000, maybe that has something to do with it.

Is it not because loading the Halo 3 Forums produces 30 javascript errors in FF. Literally, 30. Just open the error console.

No hang at all here, 2.0.0.7 with fasterfox running. I do get a slight delay on occasion if i flick too quickly between the nav menus, but that was nothing compared to the cpu whorage the old rotating text thing used to do.

I think fasterfox definitely helps. I have a G5 tower at work without fasterfox, and I get the horrible hangs on the menus at the top of Bnet. But at home, I have a Powerbook with Fasterfox installed, and the menus cause barely a blip. Might be a worthwhile fix.

It happens at all hours. Based on the number of errors loading bungie.net causes in FF I'm guessing they could care less how it functions in FF.

The number of errors it causes now is up to 67! The other day it was 30, but I think I was loading the forums the other day.

For anyone that wants to see the amazing 67 errors loading bungie.net causes and doesn't know how, click Tools->Error Console. Click the Clear button and then go to http://www.bungie.net

Errors? You mean Warnings, right? Anyway, it is pretty standard for sites to throw a bunch of JS errors in different browsers. Like Achronos said: FF isn't the best at handling JS. So it would make sense that perfectly good JS will confuse it. Also, you need to realize, that just because you see an error, doesn't mean the intended functionality of the code that threw the error hasn't been implimented in your browser. It is possible that you're seeing the error on the code that was intended for a different browser/situation, and another part of the code caught the error and adapted (Ultimately providing the functionality for you).

Try this out: Leave your error console open and go to sites you expect to have error-free JS (i.e. Google, Yahoo, etc).

AnalogWeapon,

Yes, you're right, they are warnings. I'm in the habit of treating them both like a plague so I forget to differentiate.
