Bots whould be cool but just think how many more years it whould take to make bots they'd have to build a new AI code im already mad that its not coming out for 5 more months thats why i said no. I think it whould be awsome but think about it time wise...

No they wouldn't and Here's why:
They would just use and or "Show Off" their "New" and "Improved" AI(Then again we know it has definitly improved from what we saw in E3-03 Halo 2 Demo) that they keep rantng about, and use it in the multiplayer there would be no need to come up with a New AI Program because they would just use the Halo 2's Campaign mode AI. Get it. Got it. Good.

I seriously hope to god Bungie includes bots. Playing Single Player in Halo a billion times is starting to wear thin for me (Kind Of). If Bungie includes Bots, then it will shoot the replay value for Halo 2 through the roof. Playing against Bots (Or Comp) in Starcraft is still hella fun online. Plus Bots will allow me to get more familiar with the Multiplayer Maps. Since Bungie didn't inclide Bots for Halo (Which Sucked Monkey Balls), I had to press the Second player controller start button just for me to explore the maps myself.

For people that don't want bots, don't use them. Simple as that. However, many of you that don't want bots would probably use them anyway. And for the people that are saying bots will ruin the multiplayer experience because players won't go out and play against friends or competition are stupid beyond belief. If bots keeps you from finding competition or playing against friends, then you were never competitive in the first place. If you are a competitive Halo player, bots will not help you get better, but it will help to prevent your skills from diminishing if your somehow unable to invite friends over or unable to leave the house.

Me and this guy said it all, I agree with you Aqua Snake. I have posted the Answer fro people in this thread about a Million times just look for my posts and see the viable simularity.

I think there will be bots. What about at e3 2004 a when they started releasing new screens. Wasn't those odsts standing next to mc bots in a multiplayer level. And bungie says they are going to try to make people with no live and only 2 controllers have a way to enjoy mp. Its almost too easy. And they will have been working on this game for almost 3 years!!! What do u think they do all that time, well of course make the game. I think they would be making a huge mistake to not add bots. And halo2 from what I've read and seen has the smartest ai I have ever seen. In the e3 2003 mc and 3 or 4 marines were trying to get through this hall with a bunch of covenant inside, they held their cover and a marine called frag and clear. I have never seen that happen. He never recieved a command either. What about marines and covenant using the environment to their advantage. It seems to me like the ai will be interacting with the environment not just standing about looking convincingly. So for since I don't have live (yet) its a hell yes. Even if I did have live I would say yes. A game comes to my mind with good ai and is one of the most popular online games ever. Counterstrike. That has bots in the online. I think the bots should fill in for unbalanced numbers of people. They would help nonetheless not just be target practice. They can hijac too. So its a no brainer a few people can't figure out!!!! YES for bots!! I bet george bush would approve this message lmao.

Hot Damn! You Said it all!?! Kudos to you my Halo brother!

Even IF Bungie didn't have to write new AI code (which is probably a big "if" since Bungie would possibly have to write new AI for Spartan bots and probably have to write some new code for groups of purely Elites operating together rather than in a varied group of Covenant), bots WOULD change the whole dynamic of Halo just like Ckrpoint1 and BlackWLF point out. Simply put, Halo multiplayer wasn't designed for bots, just the enjoyment of player-to-player interaction. Since Halo 2 is an IMPROVEMENT of the best parts of Halo along with some awesome additions that build on the type of gameplay established by Halo, the addition of bots would turn Halo 2 multiplayer into something completely divergent from the gameplay we've all gotten addicted to. No doubt about it, I'm completely happy Bungie has already decided not to include bots in the multiplayer even though it kinda makes any argument I might make here kind of pointless. Oh well, it's fun anyway.

first: you do not have to wright a whole new code, remeber elite avatars dont just go hey look its a grunt hes on my team, they find a specific code telling them if its friend or foe. so no new code needed.

secound: they have not confermed including or discluding bots, get with the program ppl.

third: the gamplay would not diverge AT ALL were talking about the same deal here just rather than ppl we have computers.

fourth: yes halo multi was designed for human play, but this is Halo2 were talking about, not to mention using a NPC inplace of a human player dose realy not have to be designed, its just a matter of the bot having good codeing (which they do).

god some ppl

Arrgh, 1st of all they wouldn't need to rewrite AI codes, 2) what the Hell are you Saying!?! you should listen to yourself your speaking Teh Madness!!! LoL, Bots wouldn't make the MP bad at all, it would make it the BEST FPS ever....

if u saw the documentary the person says that the new ai will look around and use there surroundings to try to destroy you.all they have to do is take the ai code they have right now and use it, maybe make a few tweaks but it wont take forever

if its suppose to be the best fps ever it must have bots

Okay, fine. The AI needed for multiplayer bots would require only minor tweaking from campaign AI. Oh wait, campaign AI only needs to worry about the limited actions of other AI enemies and the potentially infinite number of actions by one or two human players. Multiplayer AI would need to be completely redesigned to compensate for more objective-based combat as well as the enormous increase in individual processing capability required to make bots response convincingly to multiple human opponents and coordinate responsive tactics. AI programming requires enormous amounts of coding, so even a seemingly simple thing like writing AI for multiplayer bots would be a huge (and at this point in time, counterproductive) task.

Through war we will teach your heresy.
Through battle we will teach your frailty.
Through death we will teach your fate.

SP AI and MP AI are very different things, because your dealing with alot more than just killing a SPARTAN it has to respond to things like flag-captures and has to play defense and offense.

my god you dolt, do you know how many other games have objective based NPC (like in games of CTF) jeez come on idiot, not to mention that it wount take that much work, a few tweeks here and there but seriously dude tribes2 had them and so can Halo2. its just a little tweeking, the bots have a combat system all they need now is a small program on flag capturing and its done.

Hahaha! A "small" program for flag captures? Unless the code simply tells the bots to run blindly into the enemy base, grab the flag, and run straight back home (and how fun could that possibly be?), the bot coding would require an entirely new set of tactics (unless there is a CTF game in campaign mode where you have to defend the flag against the Covenant) and tons of coding to adapt the AI's normals tactics to the considerably more advanced task of succesfully capturing the flag.

I think the best game with bots is Perfect Dark. That games bots were not the smartest i have seen but it is very old. The bots were extremely challenging when set to the max. I used the bots for the soul purpose of balanceing the teams. My friends were not very good at the game so i used a bot or two for there team. To make it fair for them. I also just played the bots by my self because i was tired of the game. Bot would be great for Halo 2.
