ya the 7th page lets go for 10!!!
lets not.
Simply put, Halo multiplayer wasn't designed for bots, just the enjoyment of player-to-player interaction
Since when do bots block player-to-player interaction? Have you actually played games with bots? Do you understand what they actual are? Bots dont necessarily mean entities you shoot at when you've got no friends. Bots can enhance player-to-player interaction, Ie, 2 teams, splitscreen. Instead of fighting in a big empty space with just 2 people, me and a mate can have a small squad at our disposal, who mimick, not replace, a larger LAN party. Bots simply fill in for human players, IF YOU WANT THEM TO.
Of course bots would definately require an enormous amount of code and programming to be effective and not just a tacted on feature. However, I dont know where the theory that their inclusion would disrupt multiplayer dynamics comes from.
If Bungie has the time, or has already programmed bots, then their inclusion would not negatively affect the dynamics of multiplayer AT ALL. Since they are substitutes for human players, they wouldn't behave like SP AI, they would behave just like or as similar as possible to people in multiplayer. Now, if the multiplayer levels and dynamics are built for up to 16 players to interact in, there is no reason why the inclusion of bots would do anything. Having bots, while of course not being as smart as humans, doesn't require changes to be made to the dynamics of multiplayer, that logic does not make sense.
IF the coding for bots would be to difficult, Bungie would NOT sacrifice the quality of multiplayer just to include them. If they felt they couldn't code them due to the time they had, they wouldn't include them. And I think thats whats going to happen.
Snarl P, are you arguing;
a) Bots would consume production time and effort, and thus undermine and affect the quality of Halo 2 multiplayer in general? (which I believe could be true, and the only reason why Bungie wouldn't include them)
or that
b) Bots change the dynamics of multiplayer so that, in terms of levels, cohesiveness and overall design aspects, changes need to be made due to their inclusion? (which makes no sense to me, as bots are a substitute for humans, and therefore multiplayer dynamics and design itself would not need to be changed in anyway, except for obvious things like extra options when selecting bot matches)
