I've been thinking . . . It'll be hard to explain the Halo plot in its entirety in a game situation. It almost seems that with the complexity of the plot you'd need to have someone (343 GS, perhaps?) sit down and explain a bunch of it in a giant cutscene.

Not a bad cliff hanger but I think Halo 2's plot wouldnt end focused on humans vs. covies war more on what happens during halo 2 like a new flood species breaking free or a halo vaporising a side of the galaxy (possibily the covie home worlds side lol) Come to think of it, the halos could probably used against the covenant if its solely aiming in the direction of the covies and not earth....

Yes except you would be playing that battle instead of a cut seen. Since they said you would be able to play a few levels on the Covenants Main planets. But the ships getting destroyed would be a cut seen.

well we obvioiusly know that there is some forerunner artifiact hidden in earth because the covenant would've just glassed the planet instead of landing on it and sending troops on it.

Exactly, I think a thrid halo would be better rather than cramming the story into one last game but I think someone said bungie werent making another halo game (although if they did think of the money! [that is if halo2 doesnt disappoint])

I believe that a cool way to end Halo 2 and set up for a Halo 3 would go something like this: At the end of Halo2 the MC lands on one of the Covenant home planets. It would be the main one where the Elites or possibly Prophets are from. As the MC and the group of soilders that came with him planetside are setting up an HQ a battle is occuring in space. It is possibly between modified UNSC ships or stolen Covenant ships. As the battle rages on things are looking up for the UNSC. Then suddenly the Covenant deploy plasma orbital cannons. The UNSC fleet starts getting decimated. Meanwhile planet side the MC and the marines are hearing all this happen over their coms. They turn to look up at the sky and they see UNSC ships raining down on the planet. The camera zooms up on the MCs visor and we see this reflected in it. Cortana in a horror struck voice says "My God....". Then the camera zooms out in 5x intervals until we can see the planet from space. Then suddenly a huge and I mean a huge covenant armada encircles the planet.(No they aren't going to glass it. And if you thought that you should be ashamed.) Now nothing can leave the planet undetected with how many ships there are. Then the Halo theme song starts to play as the screen fades black.

wow you should put this in HBO's fan fiction

Yeah maybe the forerunner left something on Earth because they came from this blue planet (like i said "A record of all OUR LOST time"...."human history is it...fascinating") The forerunner could be from earth seeing as humans are their history. And maybe Earth is immune to the halos? or maybe earth is like the ULTIMATE HALO lol. That would be cool. I guess.

ya i could see earth beings as something like a halo. i mean, how else can they get rid of the covenant? unless they activate the other halo, and (which u said) earth might be immune to.

halo 1 has pine trees on it? how would forunners konw what pine trees are?

You should be a director Mrmojorisin, those zooming things and the reflection in the visor sounds like an awesome way to get it across are you into movies and such? Or do you do dcumentaries or anything?

Hmmmm.... The thing about us going back in time and everthing has been brought up before I think. Some cool concepts. I'm sure Bungie will have a good way to continue/end/complete/finish the story.

sounds cool, the MC would proly have to resume him original mission an take a covenant prophet hostage.

I don't think so, mithrandir1. It says distinctly, that Master Chief eventually "takes the fight to the covenant" which means that he travels to the covenant home-planet.

I think that the game will end in a grand display of fireworks with a cinematic of the covenant home-planet being split in two by a Nova (the super destructive bomb mentioned in First Strike) and MC getting away from the battle just in time to avoid being engulfed in the ensuing explosion.

I mean, how else is a story like Halo supposed to end? MC joining a boy-band and performing for the Covenant in New Mombasa shortly after Sergeant Johnson finally fulfills his life-long dream and learns how to tap-dance? I Don't Think So!!!!!!!!!!!!

However, this is just speculation. It is also quite possible that the Covenant have multiple home-worlds, so I might be wrong.

Bugie has said that the book Starhammer was a big inspiration for Halo - and there are many similarities between them. Both involve a war between Humans and aliens, both involve an ancient Forerunner-type race, and both involve a parasitic virus. In Starhammer, the Wise Ones (or something to that effect), the parallels of the Forerunner, were attacked by the Vang (the Flood). They created a super-weapon to destroy the Vang then traveled far into the future to a time after the Vang has been destroyed.

So I guess time-travel is a possibility if Bungie continues with the Starhammer parallels.

Yeah I remember something about time travel being mentioned too I guess that sparked off in my mind when I quoted that "our lost time-human history" thing. And I'm sure bungie will either tell us the complete plot and wow us with an amazing story or be clever and leave some parts to interpretation so that we still have something to discuss well after the halo series finishes.

Wow!

where did you come up with that? Are you working for Bungie or something? that would be so cool to see how MC and Cortana would get out of that situation. However, to make a sequel that would be even better than Halo 2... DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm already almost pushed to the brink of insanity waiting for Halo 2, much less pondering how long I will wait for Halo 3 to ship!

If there is a halo 3, it would most definatly be on xbox 2, can you say best launch title ever? It would sell the system single handedly. Halo 2 would install a huge fan base of halo, and with halo 3, millions of halo 3s and xbox 2s would sell in a day.

Also, since the xbox 2 SHOULD be much more powerful, they don't have to fully optomize the hell out of it like they are for halo 2, which would free up some time. And my guess is if there is a halo 3 they have already started with the engine. Once an engine is done, seems like you just need a few guys to fix the bugs and other problems, leaving 1/2 the team free to start on halo 3.

But those are just my wishes :)

Whatever it was he said "OUR lost ties/time". Assuming that GS's "us" are the Forerunner, then Humans have some direct connection with them.

Mrmojorisin, I seriously think as a little fun project you should write a halo movie script or something (you wouldnt be able to sell it anyone obviously because its all copyrighted but I certainly would like to see youre take on what halo2 or a prequel would be like!) does anyone agree with me?

Oh and I'm not sure about that ties/time thing, I just assumed "time" because its human HISTORY history cannot exist without the flow of time.
