Long long post...

If you have 3 mods from usa, and maybe 3 mods from the UK it might be a mod on all the time because of the timezone's. Thats one way to do it...

Yeah, that's another thing that was suggested.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

We should also have one mod from the arctic in the summer and one from the antarctic in the winter because in the summer, it is 24 hours of daylight in the arctic and 24 hours of daylight in the winter in the antarctic. As long as there is daylight they can be on 24/7 so a mod on at all times! *evil laugh*

With the amount of crap they have to put up with, I wonder why they haven’t gone insane and started murdering people.

Scipio, what was with all that hidden writing?

And I must say this isn't a long post, and the fact that the mods and overlords are here is important as this is an issue that directly affects them as members of the bungie community.

Also, Scipio, take it this way. You always are talking about that argument you had with people. Guess what, not everyone wants to be reminded about it. Actually, no one wants to be reminded of it. Just you. So go and post on your own chapter about it and answer yourself until you get it out of your system.

About the b.net, its fine. It took me a while to understand... (as well as HBO, god that bugged me). So we use the term. And so does Blizzard. The fact that they both are probably the greatest developers of all time might have something to do with it?(please don't bother disputing what I have just said in the septagon, go and say it in the flood. Maybe a flamer will find you and set you on fire....)

Maybe one from Aussie Land as well.

Man, and we strained our brains to come up with ideas like this last year after GW's Eye of Terror forums experienced a similar problem. Here you guys are with most of the answers we amateurs were trying to find. (Though I think you'd need more than one mod in Australia/NZ to allow for the intrusions of life. Mods are allowed to have lives, aren't they?) Just to be clear... I was NOT a mod there. The brainstorming thread was by us forum-goers who were viewed as having some leadership or influence among the factions of that event, and we had no official company standing.

Another idea we came up with (in that now-lost Operation NOMEX thread) was seeding on-topic stuff every now and then into the forums... there's a bit of that going on now here and it seems to be working fairly well. Ramping that up a bit may help, but it is labour-intensive. The payoff is that mods are viewed as "regular guys" who happen to have a few extra privileges instead of faceless guardians of The Man's Authoritay.

Gah, I had something else to say but lost it. Dang.

Currently I would love to have that temp ban, but the sad thing is-is that people can just go get a hotmail account and make another account. So stopping their 'fun' is a lot easier said then done.

You'd probably temp ban me the second you got the power wouldn't you?

At a clan forum I used to moderate I used to ban newbies I didn't like.

"Hey, where'd that new guy go? I haven't seen him post in a while."

"I think he left."

You are mean, in my time as a forum admin i never ban anybody. No matter how much i hated them, i never ban unless they do something relay bad.

There's too much history behind the clan to explain it.

We were (still are) a group of 30-some amazing forum-goers. I cannot explain the friendship we've had for some three years now. There are so many unique characters - it's the best forum I have ever been to.

We also don't like dumbass newbies. Stupid n00bs ruin it, so I flex some moderation power (since it was my choice - I had the admin-given right to ban whomever I wanted) and make them quietly disappear.

Holy crap. I posted a long apology to the mods, and showed some genuine repentance for what I said and people STILL grill me for it. I guess that goes to show, doesn't it?

Alright, all you cheerleaders who have made posts after my link to the apology, I have one thing to say,

Screw all y'all.

  • 06.12.2004 2:21 PM PDT

bah

I also think what the mods need is a warning button. When they click it, a tally goes down for that user. This would allow them to keep track of problem users in a very easy fashion. That way, hen Jhon Doe makes yet another stupid post, they can easily see it's not his first, and feel less bad about blacklisting someone for a day.

An apology means nothing if you still continue to make fun of or insult people...

A warning button would be nice, but not a talley, I would like to have the time saved, by just sending out an automated message, and then you know you're really in big trouble if you get a personal message from a mod or admin.

I apologized to the mods, and I haven't said anything trenchant to them. I think the worst I've done is call Stosh the hottest person on b.net. Somehow that doesn't seem like going back on anything I have said in my apology. Guess you didn't read it then? not surprising.

However, what's the point of apologizing when people like yourself are only going to act 'childish' and throw it back in your face? Kinda' makes you think people like that aren't worth the effort to be courteous to. . . people like that aren't worth a lot of things.

However, I have no regrets about anything I may have said towards people like you, especially when you continue to harass me about how I act towards moderators (which is absolutely none of your business in the first place, my most officious friend). I have no remorse for anything I've said to you, Live; you're self-righteous and little more than a pretender. Just don't be 'childish' and use namecalling or other insults. Congratulations, you'll have the moral highground again if you refrain because your form of insulting is obviously wise and mature (like what I'm doing now, but I'm not saying I'm being mature)!

Ok, you can try and make me look like an idiot and trying to make it sound like I didn't read your post, but really I don't care. You think your degrading me some how yet your not doing a thing, and let me bring mention that I was not referring to how you treat the mods still but how you treat me, since in your little eapology you apologized to every one you might of offended. And let me also point out you were the one still bringing upt our "discussion." Yet you still continue to take little cheap shots at me, whether its by using the text color you can't see, or just throwing my name into one of your posts, or even making fun of my login. Well guess what, you can do it all you want, because I beleive your only making a fool of your self infront of every one, and your the only one that dosen't see that.

P.S.- I think you need to look up the word harass, because in no way did I harass you or make mention to how you treat the mods, you just failed to read/understand my post. Have a nice day =P
