I have played Halo 3, kinda like the game at first, I find the promotion or leveling up interesting and kept me going. But after I hit officer level, I am stuck at skill level 12. No matter how hard I try, and how well I play, my team always meet a stronger team. Out of 250 games, I cannot level up. This is really difficult for players like myself, whose skills are only average. Why is the other team always stronger?? I may have to stop playing because my wife says my whole face turns red, and I get really angry when I play this game. I got high cholestrol and high blood, I am afraid I may 1 day get a stroke while playing this game. It is a good game, but a little too difficult. I consider this game a ''Love, Hate"" game. I see no purpose in playing the game already, kinda given up to level up to skill level 20 to get captain. So difficult to even get to skill level 13, ha ha ha. Thanks Bungie for creating a good not great game, alot of fun but also alot of stress!!!!

This is happening to many people, for some leveling is easy, for others it is very hard. I myself are seeking an answer for this, and soon i think that bungie will issue a statement or a patch.

Actually, Leveling up is much easier than Halo 2. I'm already a 32 and the highest I ever was in Halo 2 was a 22.

I was a 40 within the first week of h3's release, getting skill isn't hard, maybe you guys have already reached your level peak.

You do realize that launch ranks arent worth crap right? All kinds of skills are mixed up and its just a matter of playing much if your decent. A lot of those 30´s and 40´s youve been up against on your way there would probably not have been those ranks if there had been an established pool of lplayers ranging from 1-50, theyve just been racing there IMO. They will however drop once the real players reaches those heights but chances are that theyve stopped playing by then in fear of losing their ranks.

What makes me made is when I'm against someone that is my level or lower, but should be like 10 levels higher than me and they beat me and I lose a level because their level is wrong.

everyone starts at lvl1, the better players win and level up, others don't, it will equal out eventually.

I have a couple of solutions for you.

1. Get a faster broadband connection!
2. Find some new teammates
3. Make sure that you and your teammates deaths dont outnumber your kills

meh. took me about 60 games to get from skill level four to skill level 13, where I am now... All the other games on my profile were played by other people at my friends house before I got the game. I had uploaded my gamertag on his console so I could play one day, I come back in like a week and there are about 80 games played mostly custom games...

I think I could definitely, and will definitely get higher before I even get enough exp for the silver ranks.

Another thing I noticed, I was in a party with my friend, and I got a K/D spread of +9, he got a K/D spread of -4, he went up a rank and I didn't. This needs confirming, but I believe if you play with a group, the skill is distributed across the group. I know it's easier for me to go up in rank when I'm playing alone, maybe you want to try playing not with a group and see how it goes.

Come with me to the dark side of the force. I'll drop the world on your f****** head.

GT: I Galactis I

I noticed that it's more difficult to level up when you have a party of four. I'd suggest to go in alone or get into a party of two.

"some rare country for example spanish"

just another fan-"Xerxes: OMG Leonidas u nub! Stop camping in th3 choke point!"

i started today at level 6 in TS, and after winning all of the TS matches, i went up to 16. near the last games, i would go up by two ranks each time. it seems like a strange system to me, but i guess i'll see how it works when i get into the higher ranks.

btw it's not showing me as a 16 right now for some reason, just so you know i'm not lying.

You just need to get a big break, that's all. I usually go through periods where I can't level up [talking Halo 2, I don't have 3 yet, one week] and then I just go on a spree. These usually follow learning new strategies, building a good team chemistry with a few good friends, etc. In a few days I've gone from 23 slayer legit to 27, and there isn't an end in sight. Last night we were playing slayer smg start on desolation and won 50-25. How? We discovered the uses of the sentinel beam. Turns out, it can completely drain an overshield in less than two seconds of sustained fire. Small discoveries like this get worked into your strategy and instantly make you a better player. Just keep trying! Practice, experiment, and don't let the people on these forums telling you you are a noob get to you. Just keep working at it =]

It's a communicator.
It's for communicating.
Use it when you're playing team objective games, for the love of god!

I don't remember where on Bungie.net I read this, but somewhere it's written that the new ranking system tracks all sorts of different stats and factors in things as subjective as "Style" to determine rank.

It goes on to say the formula is extensive and complex. I'd have to guess that factors such as these are wieghed in (Best guesses, feel free to post your own ideas!):

Level of opponents played, as an Average in a given game (the 5 opponents in this game have an average lv. of 10), and also how you faired against each individual, since stats are publicly kept on how many times you killed player x(lv.10), and how many times player x killed you, compared to those same stats against player z(lv.8))

Are you scavaging kills? example: Did you inflict the majority of damage for a kill, or just taking the easy last shot at a victim someone else whittled down?

the Flip side of that coin: Are you doing great amounts of damage to other players but not getting the kill? Perhaps you get rewarded for 'excessive' assists, as a nod to the fact other people are taking the credit for your hard work.

Quality kills/sloppy kills: Consistent headshots, use of more precise weapons, weapon accuracy kills may be wieghted more heavily than, let's say, Rocket Launcher kills or just spraying 400 rounds with dual spikers when only 40 rounds hit for the kill. Sort of a balance between tactile play and overwhelming firepower..

The possibilities are endless.. I have heard it said by some top notch players that in Halo2 the quickest way to level up was to master headshots with the Sniper rifle, indicating that accuracy plays a big part, or perhaps that kills from different weapons are wieghted differently.

At any rate, I'm a streaky player- I'll kick butt for 10 games then get my butt handed to me the next 10 games. In H2 I was only a 16ish lv player, so far in H3 I'm a 20, bouncing up and down a level constantly. To be honest, the great thing about the ranking system is the more you play, the more accurately your level reflects your skill- and I really don't care what the numbers say, since with MatchMaking, whether I'm a lv 40 or a lv 4, I will be getting matched with players that should always give me a good game.

Here is where I turned 11.. just to show you.. my buddy onekillinhokie playing along side me.

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=714755 13&player=onekillinhokie
buddy 15.. places 2nd on winning team.. I wasnt playing with him this game.. but I was a 10..

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=750842 59&player=onekillinhokie
buddy 16.. places 2nd on winning team.. I am a 10, place first on winning team.

http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=751276 55&player=onekillinhokie
buddy 17.. places 4th on the winning team.. I am a 10, place 2nd on the winning team.

Next time I was an 11 and he was an 18..

So how does it rank him up 1 rank a game.. while being BEHIND me in scoring.. and it takes me 3 games to get 1 rank?

This is the issue I was experiencing..

Hey dude I understand where you are coming from.

I was at my 39 for the longest time, I group up with some of my buddies who are a 39 and 42. We win 2 games in a row and my buddie whos a 39 goes up to a 40, and my 42 friend goes up to a 43, and i stay at a 39. We lose one game and everyone goes down except I. Then we win 6 in a row and i'm still at my 39 when my friends are at 41 and 43. I don't understand, i only went negative one game(the one we lost), and did not recive my 40 untill the 7th strait win. Yes i know it is easy to lvl up in halo 3, but theres a flaw in the system!

I read the article about the True Skill System and it's quite informative and a bit complicated. So the way I see it, the system ranks you on how you play the game on pretty much every aspect. So if you're winning games by playing the same strategy or style, then the system won't see any improvement on your skill level.

I'm having a hard time getting to level 20, but I've been watching my game replays against guys with higher ranking and I noticed they definitely play much more different than I do. I find the same thing when playing with some of my friends with a higher rank, they have a different game style, and just watching them play, I know they are a higher rank.

So try watching those replays and try a different game style or strategy. Try and prove that your skill has improved. Also, if you're playing team slayer, and you notice after a win, the other guys rank up and you don't, just check their k/d ratio or medals and compare that to yours. You'll notice their's is usually higher, which should explain why they rank up.
