The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

I was told today that when you press all the way forward on the thumbstick it would engange the sprinting.

Through war we will teach your heresy.
Through battle we will teach your frailty.
Through death we will teach your fate.

That works...I suppose. Where'd you hear that?

That's not how it worked in this year's E3 demo.

It has yet to be revealed how sprinting will be implemented.

Well, that sure clears things up, thanks Shishka.

Thank you Shishka for the tru7h. I will take your knowledge over my other source. (My source does not matter. Just a forum goer who said he read it somewhere else.)

Personally I hope it is up on the D-pad (All Speculation here).

Heres waht it says in a magizine.

RUN!
Always felt like you were wading through mashed potatoes when you needed to get somewhere fast in Halo 1? Move full speed ahead for a few seconds in Halo 2, and chief will lower his gun and break into a sprint, accelerating to almost twice normal speed (in current tests, at least). Jump, side-step or fire your weapon and you'll drop down to a normal pace, but for, say, backtracking to that rocket launcher in single-player or getting across the field with the flag in multiplayer, this new ability could be indispensible.

It doesnt say how to start sprinting though. Just thought some of that could be some help.

Well... the gun will probably come up quickly. I think sprinting will make the game a whole lot more fun and useful, as the old sniper will not have the consistant velocity and walk to count on, when someone will be able to get out of his aim faster than he can aim; also, it'll make meleeing enemies before they fire a possibility.

Hey Shishka, I thought it was either you or Stosh that told us that Sprinting and Melee combos was shut off for the e3 fanfest build? Or am I just losing it?

I do remember Stosh cursing himself though for forgetting to check to see if he could peak *laughs*

Sprinting is gonna be cool.

That was probably stosh, but I did do a bit of controller jamming, and I can confirm that melee combo's were shut off for the demo.

Read what people say in my post here.. If you hold up on the thumbstick, and run into an elite, in either campaign or multiplayer, you won't have time to take out your weapons, and you can't slow down as well, because you're going about 55 km/h. (as stated in books). I don't want it to be you push up on the thumbstick. It would suck.

So that means it'll still be in real game, right?

Bungie would not get rid of something so hyped about like the sprinting function. So it'll most definitely be there on November 9.

It could be if you click the left thumbstick while you are running and not shooting for a short period. In HALO you had to be walking (or standing still) to crouch anyway so it could be an easy way to do it.

Ok,thanks.
But will it make it to the final game? (melee combos that is)

And about sprinting,do you know any thing about that?

Thanks Shishka!

i agree wiht up on the d pad

speeking of the d pad lets think for a second all d pads on previous vidoe game systems have evolved into a joy stick i.e. nintendo nes gets a joystick in n64 and the ps1 gets a second joystick in ps2 how long do you think it will be till there are 3 joysticks

not that off topic sorry.

i'm not sure if its because i'm a bit pessimistic about the advantages about sprinting, but i can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that i don't want sprinting. i dont' see any real signifcant reason to go thorugh the trouble of adding it.

as for the combos, shishka is right (although mods know about 2x more about halo 2 than we do so...). i read that they were turned off because either bungie was concerned about balancing issues, or that they weren't polished enough. i'm thinking its a combination of both, tho.
