I've noticed recently that Bungie employees are very good at insulting members online. Not to pick on this guy, but here is an example. I think it's funny how almost every post he makes is a wise remark about how stupid someone is... it's funny how people will say anything over the vastness of the internet.

I am just venting I guess, and asking who else has noticed this. The weekly update last week seems like a prime example of taking advantage of the opportunity to insult the questions people ask (look towards the bottom of the update especially). What gives Bungie? You're welcome for my 70 bucks I spent on your game, and the hours I will devote to it with friends.

In a recent post, the guy above wrote:
This is not a support site. It is (look around) a fan community site. Come on Bungie, what gives? I love the game and the site. It's easily the best game in years... but some of us aren't complaining about your game or giving you crap. You need to give respect to earn it... and I'm losing it pretty quick.

Point #1: You're new here. Once you get to see how the community works, you will understand. If you can't see the jest in Recon's posts, then perhaps this isnt the community site for you.

Point #2: Bungie made a product. They are not UNICEF, etc asking for you to please buy their product or donate your money. You purchased your copy and spent x hours playing with your friends of your own volition.

I am a proud user of correct spelling and grammar.

That's just how Recon rolls. You just need to adjust to how the mods do things in their own [special] way.

Point #1: Thanks veteran, but I'm not 12... I can see pretty quickly how the forum works. I'm not just complaining about the forum, I'm talking about the last weekly update too.

Point #2: And yes, Bungie will get soooooooooooooooooooo much money from the sales of their video game, which is why they spent so much time promoting it before the release. A good company cares about customers before and after the sale. Bungie does care about its customers, a lot. Hence the map updates they come out with and updates they are working on for Halo 3. But caring goes beyond work, it is also about respect. Sometimes a simple "you're in the wrong section" will do rather than a sarcastic remark.

1. Recon is not a Bungie employee.
2. Save for two, none of the moderators are Bungie employees.
3. Deal with it.

You are affiliated with the company as a moderator, even if you aren't a Bungie employee. I see forum moderator and I think Bungie. That's the way it goes. I just think anyone affliated with Bungie should show fans respect on the Bungie website, regardless.

It wasn't an attempt to belittle you or an attempt to make myself seem more righteous. As I said in my previous post, if you can't see the humor in the moderators posts, then 1, you dont have asense of humour, or 2, the person deserved to be made fun of.

Its a video game. All this talk of respect, etc makes me feel like I'm a Japanese board member.

If I had a dollar for every time somebody was told that they were posting in the wrong section and had thier thread locked only to have the person re-post the same exact topic in the same exact wrong forum, I would own Bungie.

There are alot of members that can carry a conversation and figure things out. Unfortunately, they are in the minority. That means that the majority (or very vocal minority) of people here are the type that keep walking into brick walls but can't figure out why thier nose hurts.

The mods do what they do because it is effective.

Alright big guy. Sit there all big and tough telling me to deal with it. Are you employed by Bungie in some way? Who cuts your pay check? You are affiliated with the company as a moderator, even if you aren't a Bungie employee. I see forum moderator and I think Bungie. That's the way it goes.

Well, that's your problem, I'm just gonna be a mean jerk as always. But that's what I love about this website, you only have to bump into someone and you already got a fight.

As for Bungie being disrespectful, they're not, they just pay respect in their own way.

Don't.

Moderators are just members who spend their time moderating and are given shiny text and a custom avatar as payment. They're still just members. They're like me and you, but sneakier. And they have swords. And your mum.

First of all, I get the humor, and sometimes it is pretty funny, but when it is deserved. Not all cases call for the wittiest remarks a moderator can think of. I could care less what is said to me, but I'll call people out online or in person who say whatever they want online because they can... so whoever takes offense to my complaints can deal with it.

As for your second point, a thread was recently "moved" (gasp!) from the Halo 3 forum to this one. Not locked. Not criticized. Moved. Obviously it can be done.

As for just another fan... what you have isn't a fight. It's a bump back. If you take it as a fight, then boo-hoo. I'm just glad you answered my other thread with respect, because I didn't disrespect you to begin with.

Let's settle it on the battlefield in a little game I like to call "Slayer".

Don't worry, I don't see this as a fight. You should read some of the death threats I have gotten, few things impress me now on these forums.

The thing is, some times things get annoying for us. We're just members, we want to voive our opinions without people paying criticizing every single world, or blowing sunshine on our asses just because we happen to be mods.

And my internet conenction is in a fight with me this night. Keeps disconnecting for no apparent reason.

I find it funny that of all the ninjas, you chose Recon to pick on. Recon is old school Bungie, meaning a highly intelligent, self deprecating sarcastic son of a beeyotch........and we love him just the way he is. He has the patience of Jobe, and in order to keep his sanity he pokes sarcastic sticks at the other mods and members, and it's always in a well intentioned manner, never mean.

Maybe before throwing stones, you should walk a mile in his master forum ninja shoes for a week. Recon deals with more crap in one day than a manure plant.

I still question how:

This is not a support site. It is (look around) a fan community site.
is offensive.

Recon and all the other mods are extremely helpful. They may give silly remarks, make fun of people who clearly are being jerks, idiots, spammers, trolls, and make fun of your mother's nightly shenanigans, with or without help of said moderating team, but they do help out.

If you have a problem, or the forums need to be cleaned up, they help. This place would be dull with a bunch of robots running about. The moderating team is one of the larger reasons I've stuck around. This site is fun, as long as you're not on the wrong end of the barrel of laughs. Of course, even then, getting tozt'd on the forum by a moderator's insult can be pretty hilarious too. ;)

Jeez. Recon, you've been gaining tons 'o fans this week.
My goodness. Aren't you the nice funny one ?

I think when he saw Shishka had 1000/1000 on Halo 3 he realized he should act more like him. Because we all know Shishka didn't get that stuff by himself. >_>

Beewaxers, haven't you heard? There is no Recon perm. Or flaming heads, for that matter.

The strange thing about Recon's mom comments is that most of the time he isn't lying.
