I bought a gamer lounge DGL 4300 Dlink router... Everything in the house runs better...except XBOX I have better game performance with a 3.5 yr old 8.11 B router. I called the tech at D LINK and he said that XBOX 360 has a 8.11 B card in it. I asked him if he was sure and he said "no", Great. Does anyone else have any feed back on that router or the GAMER LOUNGE series.. I asked the tech if there were any tweaks to perform and he said no. The router is supposed to recognise and prioritize gaming bandwith and is litsted as a preferred router by X BOX. Im about ready to take it back...

any experience?

Thanks in advance

hi riptide....

funny I saw your post today......My netgear 624 gave out, so I ordered the 4300 based on all the reviews....

I'll be interested to see if I have the same problem.....

anyway, I found this in the 360 spec page...

Optimized for Online Instant, out-of-the-box access to Xbox Live features, including Xbox Live Marketplace for downloadable content, Gamer Profile for digital identity and voice chat to talk to friends while playing games, watching movies or listening to music
Built in Ethernet Port
Wi-Fi Ready: 802.11 A, B and G
Video Camera Ready

hope that helps....try a different D link rep, also,.,,,,,maybe try to set it up with an ethernet cable, see if it makes a difference.....

let me know how it turns out...(put dlink router in the message so I remember......)

you can send a FR to FASTHARRY

Thanks for the reply.. at least we know the XBOX works with all the band widths... Im going to take it back and order another..same model. If it happens again..ill look at other things.. Maybe the processor is out other people are saying that linksys is better and gamefuel is a gimmick... Im thinking the processor is working in reverse.

riptide, order it from costco, if possible.....99.99 shipped.....let me know how it turns out.....I'll let you know on mine.....Also, I thought about a linksys gaming router...that N one....

the problem I saw, was that it was not certified for the 360.....and there are a few software versions, even on the LIVE approved routers, that are not certifies by live( I went through this with the netgear...approved router, bad firmware....)....So I also read the reader reviews on amazon.......and it gor great ratings there, also....

I would try another D link......

Netgear WPN824 v2 is what I use, I recommend it.........If you have $130.00 lying around :-/

It's really good for wireless and I've had no problem with Xbox Live on it. Good luck in whatever you go with.

the whole problem with NETGEAR( which just broke on me)...is that they only have a 3 month tech support....40 bucks per incident after that....

D link has a 1 year warranty....and no time limit on tech phone support....and its USA/canadian based.....not across the ocean......

My Linksys WRT54G went out last week, and we just had a tech come over today and replace it with the AT&T Brand Router/Modem combo.

Don't get Linksys, their tech support is a bunch of useless Indians, they ARE NOT user-friendly, and I've had mine for only a year and a half (It was placed in a good area), and it died.

hello, cost is where I got it.. This router is supposed to be plug and play. I did not go in and open additional ports. The router would connect ok, but into the game I would be reduced from full green bars to one red dot. I re installed my 3 yr old netgear 8.11 B router and Im full Green bars now since last night. Funny thing is that everything in the house ran way faster with the new router. I might try it again. The one rep said I needed to contact microsoft and I needed to open ports for X box. On X box support page it does say to make sure certain ports are open. Another rep said it should be plug and play and configured correctly right out of the box when you install it

Just spoke to another rep at D link he said to take it back. and re- purchase it. You should not havet to open any ports> It would not connect to XBox at all if you needed to open ports... I connect OK I just get reduced to no bandwith, Im thinking there migh be some thing wrong with the antenna or reciever. Any ways back to cost co.

hey iceman..I have to be honest, the netgear always game me a bit of trouble......I could never connect wih a few PSP and ps2 games( all proper ports were opened), the USB wireless would disconect every month on my other PC, and even placing systems in the DMZ never changed anything.....I lived with it as much as I could, and their horrible tech suport, but I'm glad it broke..it will go back to costco, I will get the 4300 gaming router,,,,,and I will finally enjoy atv on the ps2, and twisted metal on the PSP......

Im thinking that net gear might have a superior antennae, receiver setup.. ill try this d link one more time...and If I have to, go buy a netgear again.. Im thinking about how my 3 year old netgear b router can beat the performance of a perferred new generation XBOX router with G.It might be a very simple answer...quality signal.

Hi there I have been sitting with it still in the box, I might get to it tomorrow. I went out and bought a PS3 with the price drop. Got the 80 gig,, and it came with the DVD controller, extra controller. motor storm delux edition.Costco in the store only, they do not have it online. I downloaded every demo game online and went out and bought warhawk with the blue tooth headset. Pretty fun.. The game graphics are a little too cartoonish though. Still I enjoy Knife kills from my battlefield 1942 days. Ill be real stingy buying games though, Ill wait for better graphics. I think a lot of the developers are not using the capability of both machines. I think next year will be better. I might buy mass effect. I have way too many FPS games. Now that I have played demos for quite a few, Im really happy with HALO3, what a difference, its a real masterpiece of art.No One is going to get my cash unless they step up to the plate with the graphics.
Ill be back to halo tomorrow after I install and possible uninstall the router.. Im thinking also of moving the router to behind my TV and gaming decks. Ill go hard wire for all three machines. One thing about this game, its way funner when you play as a team and act with coordinated effort.I want to join a clan or get on a team. I think i want to be hardwired for that. I dont want to F' around.. server lag is bad enough without having a bad connect wireless. And we do get server lag pretty often.

My wifes computer has an internal WIFI and she can go wireless. She does not do any gaming :)) HELL SHE HARDLY SURFS THE WEB Ill have to get a 3 way splitter. Ill let you know what happens, and we can hook up for some games.

And how did you make out? The more that think about it I could not find anything that says that game fuel Tech or gamers lounge. applies to using the router wireless.
Something tells me it works when there are other computers WIRED to it so that if one of the stations is gaming it gives it priority bandwith. Ill see if I can get the tech to spill the beans tomorrow. They might not want to say.

With the D-link Gaming router you do not have to open any ports just make sure UNiversal plug AKA UpNP is on in the router

Gamefuel is best turned off especially if you don't have any network traffic going on while playing because gamerfuel affects you using Window media player and the best Firmware for the 4100-4300 routers is 1.6 although yopu might want try out the stock firmware that in it

I will probably order a Dlink dir- 655 becase the firmware is better in it.

who has played with a Linksys sau Gs model and a Dling gaming router bothe using wired connections which is better
