Very Simple.
Sign into BNet with your e-mail/password.
You will then be at your BNet Home Page.
From here, you will see your current account. Does it have your current GT?
If not, you probably have ANOTHER, OLDER ACCOUNT.
If you have ever linked a gamertag to this account, that tag will be on this account.
If you changed this old GT on Live, then your new changed GT will be here.
(mine was my original GT from 2004).
You want to link your NEW GAMERTAG to your account, but you are getting errors.
If you keep getting a 'gamertag taken' error, and you are playing with that gamertag now, you must have set up a NEW BUNGIE ACCOUNT for your new TAG, when in reality, your original BNET account has now been update to your 'new' GT. Your getting a 'can't link' error because its already linked to the old sign-on.
Because you couldn't easily change your GT until the 360 came out, many people just didn't make the switch to their Bnet accounts.
Any changes on LIVE to your Gamertag will follow the original GT life on BNet.
So, find what account your current tag (the one you want to use) is linked to.
PS. If your like me, you probably had a different e-mail back then. Once you find the old BNET account, you can change your 'sign in' email to your current one.
PPS. Your BNet account name will be the old tag. You can't change that account name.
