Thanks, everybody! And who says the Bungie fanbase is unhelpful and full of rude people? Er...nobody. And for good reason! (whew, think i saved myself from sounding dumb there!).

I have actually realised i used to have a mac when i was younger, but my dad threw it out when we got a PC. D'oh!

Hm, i think one of my local gamestores sells really old PC games cheap, so I'll download Marathon One as instructed, and go buy M2 from the local or bungie store. While i look, Oni might be there, or Myth. Then i might understand what people are saying in the Septagon! :)

Bungie rules!

One of the great things I have to love Bungie for is how detailed all the universes are. The complexity, and the time spent on the story....its quiet a novelty when compared to every other games dev out there. You just have to love them for the fact story is the key, and then built around it is the technology and innovations.

Marathon...great story even if its been so long I've played it I'll have to go find my old Mac and see if it still runs just to remind me :) But the years I spent with it, utterly amazing. Same with Myth, the huge epic. Also loved how the story was told through the naration. The person who did the voice for that was amazing.

The big let down I felt while playing Halo storyline wise, was that I expected some of the twists as I had become accustomed to them through playing Myth and Marathon and Pathways. I can't really put a figure on it, but Bungie has that "style" in the stories and certain things always tend to occur...ok, exception being Infinity when it really left the plot hehe.

I'll give a vote to Myth since it's not doing so well....but really, they are all great :) As are the book writers for Halo, its added so much to the universe and explained so many things we so needed to know from the game.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Hey D Von did Marathon 2 and Infinity have separate pc and mac versions, or was it one disc? I'm asking so I know whether I have to be careful when I eventually buy them off of ebay. And if Marathon 2 and Infinity were on the same disc for the pc and mac versions, does that mean in the Mac Action Sack that M2 and Infinity would work on a pc? If so, that would make things a lot easier.

You ought to just get the Mac action sac and use Aleph One since Infinity isn't for PC.

I've played Myth II, Marathon 2, and Halo. I remember playing a demo for the first Myth at my uncle's house. I think Bungie presented each game brilliantly. I enjoy their games because they're practically the only ones that put alot of emphasis on the storyline. Each one is a great work of modern art. I found myself in awe when I played the Silent Cartographer in Halo because of the beauty of it all. The fact that they put so much detail into everything serves to immerse me in their world. They also gave you the ability to explore the environments in different ways. Being able to see the gas giant Threshold in the sky, and watching the rays of the sun filter through the trees was brilliant. Myth II and Marathon 2 didn't have the prettiest graphics, but their story and narration pulled you in. Reading the terminals in Marathon, and seeing Myth II 's neat illustrations that were presented during each narration was fun and engaging. I can't wait to see what Bungie pulls of next.

My favorite of all Bungie games is definately Myth TFL. It fealt like I was in charge of this elite team of hardasses, planning out tactical missions against the enemy. Myth2 fealt more like I was a part of some grand narrative, following someone elses story. But, although Myth is my favorite, I did not vote for it.

An FPS will always have a more immersive plot than a RTS. In a First Person Shooter you are in the place of the character. You see what he sees, you learn what he learns, you experience the world as though you were there. In an RTS there is a sense of detachement; you are viewing the world from a third person perspective, and thusly it is more difficult to become emotionally involved in the story.

So I voted for Marathon. I've only played Infinity, and I must say, it has a fantastically greater story than Halo. Not just the story, but the way it is presented. I mean, the first level is a Prologue! What kind of game has a prologue? One that is designed to tell an amazing and complicated and compelling story.

Think about this... Could you write TWO novels COMPLETELY outside of a game like Marathon, or Myth? I voted for Halo, even though it's the only Bungie game i've ever played. Maybe it's just becuase I enjoy futristic stuff, but stuff that isn't stupid, and unrealistic, like Red Faction 2. Also from the quotes I'm hearing from you guys, Marathon saounds like LOTR fantasy, and I HATE that crap. =)

Myth os the fantasy, Marathon is the futuristic, realistic FPS. I'm trying to do a scientific poll here, so Dont post if ya haven't played, or read the story pages of all of 'em.

Gotta tell ya... halo is an extremely good game... one of the best i've ever played... but the storyline sucks... its just like any other storyline... unorigianal... The fact that Halo is a good game completely makes u forget about the storyline... because you don't think about it

I dunno, Marathon is the predecessor and has a great storyline, but I really think that Halo is a lot more drawn together and really has a backround (thanks to the book) and gives many twists in the storyline, but the older Bungie games are masterfully done

I'm sorry man, but that's completely FALSE!! Halo has a great storyline, and whatever you say about that, won't change that, either!! Unoriginal??? What does that mean?? I don't think I've ever seen a game about the flood and the Covenant!! Look, go read the reviews, and they'll prove this to you.

I wouldn't say Halo's story sucked. For a FPS it was fairly deep and involved. I also think it was original. Sure, its the same ol' "save the human race from destruction" plot, but the circumstances and events that take place while unfolding the redundant plot are original. And who knows what kind of twists they will add with the arrival of Halo 2. Dear God. Just thinking about it makes my head spin.

However, I voted for Marathon. Oldy but goody.
