Lol..another point: Unless the thread title contains "I hate Halo" or something to that kind of content..it won't get locked or otherwise noticed by the mods unless some act of god gets their attention drawn to your thread.

Bungie has mentioned you will be able to shoot out lights in Halo 2 for stealthy situations,
well did you notice on the zanzibar overview movie of the level where the camera goes past that swinging light, well did it look like a light bulb to you, because if it is then Bungie doesn't know the future. Ok here's what I mean, light bulbs use tungsten, and we're running out of tungsten, we will start using flourescent lights in a matter of years and light bulbs will soon be in museums, and Halo 2 is based in 2552, kinda weird huh? Plus the lights in the asault rifle and shotgun, aren't those light bulbs, well I just hope you see where I'm getting at. Here's an example; Jarassic Park, dinosaures were extinct over a million years ago while they seem to be alive in modern days according to Jarassic Park. Well I just thought I'd let you know, hope Halo 2 gets a bit more realistic than this

Holy crap, you seriously made a post about a non-florecent light bulb is being used in halo 2. OH NO. MY GOD NO! I'm not going to get halo 2 any more because they are using normal light bulbs in the future. I can't belive it. I can't belive bungie would do this to us loyal fans. My life is over!

no sarcasim intended.........HAHA YA RIGHT!

Also, I'm sure that in the future, whatever things they use for light, they will still use a plastic or glass for the cover, I'm sure it won't be bullet proof, and OMG GET THIS!!! THEY'LL STILL GO OUT IF SHOT!!! OH MY GOD WHAT A -blam!- ING CONCEPT!!!!

Heh.

::Official Bungie Statement::
We are sorry to inform you all that in the timeline of Halo 2, they have not yet created, or found the need to create, unbreakable lightbulbs, there are ones that don't burn out, but unfortunately they still break and cease emitting light when shot, or blown up, we apologize for this inconvenience, as you will now have to move your thumb 1/4 of an inch down to the flashlight button. Again, we apologize for this inconveniece. Now please, HAVE A NICE MOTHER-blam!- ING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned but, if we settle new planets then there could be tunsgsten there. And in Jurassic Park they modify dead DNA.

i find it wierd, but i really think that people brang up some good points about this, it IS an old base, so it could have old lights.... They may have found more Tungsten, on earth, or on a different planet settles on...

And finally, LEDs do get pretty bright, just stick 5 of em together and there ya have it i have just one, and when it is on , it blinds me...

actually thew alternate or different light source is a possiblity...

hey, while the thread doesn't have much use, cut ace some slack! i actaully didn't know that lightbulbs were made if tungsten (yet i know waht led stands for, that they can get bright enough for people to see during mid day, easy, and that plasma is actaully the fourth state of matter). i'm kind waiting for geekboy-hikaru come and critisize evertone in this thread with his "infinite knowledge", and the "fact" that he's never wrong ;).

Well, I was really proud of myself for avoiding this one for a long (for me) time, and now that I've actually clicked the link and read the posts (some, not all), I'm ashamed, but I still feel compelled to add this.

Did this same complaint arise in the first Halo game because of a woefull lack of tungsten in the future? Did no one consider that this is VERY IMPORTANT!? MY GOD!

Alert Bill Gates! Microsoft will be chastised and reviled worldwide for having a hand in releasing a product that might contain...dare I whisper the word...FICTION! This cannot happen!

O.K., I've had my fun. Thanks.

Did you ever think that maybe the light bulb you saw was using a different material to make light and not whatever it is now. I mean really is it that hard for people in the future to make a bulb?

Did you ever think that he might be right?
Did you ever even possibly consider the fact that BUNGIE IS NOT PERFECT!?

-S

Just about everyone in this thread has been a complete jerk. I'm locking it, not because of the lack of quality of the original thread, but because of the complete stupidity of many of the replies.

Many people in the Halo 2 crowd are avid sci fi fans. This means that they pay a lot of attention to things such as consistency, and Ace finds the possibility of tungsten lightbulbs in the future to be inconsistent with the evolution of lighting over time.

And you know what? That's just fine. He's got an interesting point. Just because you're not as into sci fi as he is doesn't mean you have the right to be a jackass.

Here's a very important thing for the rest of you to remember, because as far as I'm concerned, you're all in trouble, now. If you see a thread, and you don't think it serves any use, DON'T REPLY TO IT. As a regular user, you have no right to dictate which threads serve purpose, and which are simply spam. And, if you DO reply to a post with any kind of flame, YOU'RE the one that gets in trouble.
