Subject: The Official and Only Halo 3 User-Created Gametypes/Maps Thread

In addition to our Files forums (located here), I'm creating a thread here on the Official Halo 3 Forum to serve as a catch-all for gametypes and map variants ONLY, that have been created by the community. The hope here is that this will be used as a resource and and archive of created games and map variants from the Community.

This is NOT a place to discuss the quality of an author's work or offer suggestions, do that in the links the authors will provide for their gametype/map variants. This is ONLY for collecting the gametypes.

Here's the format for posting, (I've bolded ONLY for the purpose of making the text stand out in this wall of text, please refrain from bolding in your posts) all posts in this thread that violate the post format will be deleted by the moderators.

Rebound, a Re-imagination of Snowbound
Designed with Symmetrical-arena style slayer play in mind, Rebound takes elements of Snowbound that previously turned the map into an interior camping battle, like the Shotgun, and awards both teams a Shotgun in their respective bases. Weapon sets have been made close to identical on both sides of Snowbound in an attempt to remove the tendency of players to crouch camp underneath. This map is ideal for 2-10 players.

How to make these posts.
1. Create a gametype and map variant, upload these to your File Share.
2. Publish the Gametype and Map variants to the forums, save the links to those threads.
3. Create post in this thread, and link to the Map variant and Gametype at the Publish to Forums link here [this way players can easily click those links and download your gametypes.
4. Create a well-written explanation of changes made to the map and if necessary a description of the gametype you've created, including ideal number of players, number of teams (if necessary) and any other relevant information. Please write as clearly and coherently as possible.
5. Bungie will be watching this thread and using it as a resource for gametype creation from the community as well, all posts not relevant to the topic at hand will be removed and users potentially extinguished like torches in a monsoon.

Baseball:
Spawn with Gravity Hammers, mainly like normal baseball, but the ball=pitcher in the mongoose, batter=player with gravity hammer. Batter hits the mongoose driving at him and runs to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. Pitcher (still in the mongoose) gets back and tries to get to the base before the batter can get there. There are different variations with stands, home bases, etc. Can be played on either Valhalla or Snowbound.

Check out my newest map, Close Quarters!

Funnest, Lame name for a fun game! That's the map. I know it's confusing that the game is the same name as it's variant, but I wasn't really thinking at the time of creation. Oh well...

Funnest is a map made for the game variant Funnest (found HERE ), in which the object of the game is to defend and capture a single hill in the middle of Valhalla, though this task is not as easy as it may seem.

Objective
To gather the most amount of time in the hill before the game ends (12:00)

Weapons and Vehicles
Each team spawns with 1 Wraith, 1 Banshee, 2 Warthogs and 2 Mon...geese? Each player spawns with a Battle Rifle and a Shotgun for infantry work. Rocket Launchers are placed throughout the map, so picking one up is a quality strategy for anti-vehicle situations. Grenades regenerate, as to add to the frantic gameplay as well as to help take out vehicles and infantry.

The Hill
The hill is located in the middle, and some objects have been placed in it to help make defending a little bit easier. Turrets allow easy defense of two directions as well as a quick anti-air weapon, and personal shields and tripmines respawn quickly inside of the hill. Another added bonus are the barricades placed in defensive positions around the hill.

Powerups and Miscellaneous Equipment
At each base there are three powerups: Overshield, Active Camo, and what my friends like to call "super whitey". SW makes you extremely fast, gives you unlimited ammo, and allows you to jump high, but it also makes you very weak and susceptible to damage. And of course, it makes you white. Inside of the base there are also fire grenades and flares to help give you an offensive edge.

Conclusion
This gametype works best with more people, but my friends and I have found 4 on 4 to work fine. The settings are tweaked to our liking, and may need to be tweaked to yours. In all, this is just a fun gametype to play with while goofing around, and can lead to some pretty hilarious scenarios. Thank you for your time and download!

(If this...description is too out of format, let me know and I will shorten it. Thanks)

Newest Variants
Map: The Complex - Goldeneye 007 Remake
It's not even funny how close this map is to the original. Click on the link above and read the description for more details. Thanks!

Map: Fort Knox
This map is probably one of the most organized, well-thought-out forts that has been created for Foundry. It is an architectural masterpiece. Perfectly placed walls and stairs divide this 3 floored, 2 section base into many rooms that you can use to fight off intruders. Although the entrance to Side A of the base is quite obvious, there is a secret passage your enemies may find to get in. Although it was set up with capture the flag variants in mind, this map has been perfected for two days and can now host all gametypes.

The only way into the base is on Side A, however side B can be accessed a variety of ways once inside the base. For most gametypes, one team will start inside the base while the other team tries to make its way in to capture the flag, deliver a bomb, kill the VIP, or infect humans. This map is a lot of fun and is definitely worth the download. Check out the screenshots and give it a try!

^Cool can't wait to check them out. I was thinking of doing a race thing around sandtrap where the brute mines come up. We would increase the speed of course and add a lot of items to cause them to slow done.

Stairs

Stairs is a small, fast paced, multilevel map that works with all map variants. Great for 2-8 players (and more if you like it really intense).

With small amounts of people (2-4) I recommend a rocket-type variant. If you have more players then that then I recommend CTF, 1/2 Bomb, or regular Slayer. No mater what variant you play this map with (and it works with all of them!) you're bound to have fun!

Total Survival
Good Luck

Total Survival
The Pit
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU DOWNLOAD THE GAMETYPE ALONG WITH THE MAP.

Stranded being the few left alive, survival is a must. The Pit is now a mere a shell of what it once was, ever since the outbreak. Quickly head into the shelter and pick up a weapon. Get ready, your in for a long night.

Total Survival:
Two Base's to attempt to survive in. One has Two levels with a teleporter, and staircase leading to the top. Leading to your shelter. The other takes you to a death trap, a place where the weapon's are abundant but getting out of there alive, is easier said than done. Try to survive, but save ammo. Weapons are rarely found and when they are it'll take some time.

I work here: Sound Devices, LLC. We make bad-ass field audio gear, and you think that's awesome. My messy desk (With work-related items on the computer screen).

One does not simply grenade jump into Mordor...

Cram Hills
Moving hill, Gravity Hammer starts, Invulnerable in hill, Only uncontested time scores. This variant is designed for the Cram Hills map that I made (Or any map you feel like where you forge the hills to be really tiny). The basic premise is that, once one is in the tiny little hill, they move very slow and are very heavy. The hammers are for slamming your opponents out so you can cram in there...

Ball of Death
this oddball game is kind of just a slayer game with a twist. All kills are worth 1 point. Ball kills are worth 8. Ball carrier is vulnerable and earns no points for carrying the ball. So pick up the ball if you think you can get to someone in time to get a 8 point melee kill...

I made another variation of this where the ball carrier isn't so vulnerable, but loses 1 point per second while carrying the ball. I'll get it up here sometime and see if anyone likes it (Or you can just make it yourself. Huzzah).

Edit: I know this isn't a discussion thread, but Killer of You said "Mongeese". I have to respond: LOL.

Uses standard CTF and Slayer Gametypes.

Gulch Wars Made for Vahalla and Sandtrap
A Halo 3 remake of the beloved Halo 2 gulch wars, this time around is stronger than ever. The gametype score is 100 points and 12 minutes long. The settings are set to fit with the forged map below:

Gulch Wars Forged Map (Vahalla)
Multi Flag Wars Forged Map

The maps contains many things such as Tanks, Hornets, Mongii, and Warthogs. Most weapons are at each base. There are numerous equipment at each base. I've revamped the map to feel a little more like Coagulation. How so? I have added many things such as teleporters that take you a bit further than the side man cannons. This map has a lot more fire power and is actually set more for my next gametype:

Multi Flag Wars (Vahalla and Sandtrap)
Multi Flag Wars is basically the same thing as multi flag. However, the name is changed and a time limit is set at 12 minutes for this gametype. The spawns at the bases (right next to vehicles) make it a very interesting and competative game. This is a game set for Vahalla and Sandtrap as a multi flag varient to Gulch Wars. Flag wars in Halo 2 was fun. However, because the middle of the map is a hill, Vahalla does not work as well as it's Halo 2 counterparts. Therefore, this game is set as multi flag. Enjoy.

Forged map: "Elephant Wars" (Sandtrap).
This is amazing remake built for Sand Trap with Multi Flag and Slayer settings. It is a gametype that makes perfect use of the elephant and when you guys play it you'll understand why. The maps has all the Human power weapons and the Elephant spawns with a Warthog and Mongoose. Enjoy and let carnage reign all.

1 Flag CTF Fast
This is the one gametype NOT in my file share that isn't gulch wars oriented. This is just like 1 Flag CTF. However, if you recall in Halo 2, there was 1 Flag CTF Fast. Basically all the settings went one stage down (Time oriented settings) in order to have a balanced CTF game on small asymetrical maps. I've done the same for Halo 3. The time is 3 minutes per round. Things such as flag touch return are 10 seconds instead of 15. Enjoy.

Endarrows

Removes shotguns and maulers on the map and puts the sniper ontop of boxes in the center on the map which can only be reached by grav lifts. Changes the map from grab the maulers and stay on either end to frantic battling in the center with random bodies flying via grav lifts. Also equipment changed from bubble shields and drainers to portable shields and regenerator. Msg if you want to play because I've only tried it out with 5 players and would like to see how it plays out with more.

8-16 Players. This is High Ground with lots of cover out in front for the attackers. The defenders have turrets to fight with. There are gravity lifts to get up to the base. There are strategic routes to follow for cover. Everyone has shotguns and no shields just like Tower of Power. Modify the damage resistance and other things to your liking. Everything else is on my file share. One map is for infection and one flag CTF and the other is for King of the Hill and Team Slayer. http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/FileShare.aspx?gamertag=Xtr emeStuntman . I'm out of file share space so the King of the Hill Gametype which probably is the best for this map is here http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=13581163 Also, the game I intended was that people do not take off the turrets because you couldn't in Halo 2. You can make house rules for this though. Turrets don't respawn after being detached but you can change this using forge. Toy around with the damage modifiers in the infection gametype as you see fit. Sometimes it's too easy to kill zombies or too hard based on how many people are playing. This map has been updated since the last time I posted it October 24, 2007 or something. Pics are here --> http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/Screenshots.aspx?gamertag=X tremeStuntman

Map: Vertigo

A series of large containers on floating in the sky. Jump amongst them in order to get to the other team's base. The entire map takes place on the beach, complete with two teleporters in case of falling. Be sure to turn starting grenades off so the boxes are not disturbed. Map is played best with 6-10 people on either a team slayer or Multi Flag game. Note that the best player spawn weapons for the map are BR/AR. Have fun and fly safe!

Air Flag Variant

Map: Compound 42B

Great zombie map that has a castle built out of large boxes and containers on the beach. Humans spawn on the beach and must walk to the large fortifications, and zombies spawn closer to the wheel. Use of both turrets is vital for human survival. It's best to download the Zombie Swarm variant for this map, but any zombie variant could be used as long as the alpha zombie moves at 150% and the regular zombies at 150%. Be sure to set the number of zombies to 25% in the spirit of fairness. Have fun in the castle!

~~Pardon Our Dust.~~

If I said ALL of the maps below are worth checking out, you must believe me. This is probably some of the most fun I've had in custom games.

Turf Remake! Need I say more?

Beach Assault (NEWEST Version)
Last Resort variant.

Description:
Awesome 1-Flag CTF map, 8 to 12 players. One team starts on the far right of the beach with power weapons, powerups, and damage inducing objects, and the other team starts on the wall with turrets, and basic weaponry. It's an absolute blast for those of you who want some new CTF action. It makes the map feel completely different, and is fought in a way you've never witnessed. ;)

Side note:
Hilariously enough, if you listened to the podcast, my map was described perfectly. I could swear they were talking about it. I almost feel as if I've lost credit of being the first to make a good variant involving the beachhead, but it's worth a shot again. ;)

Ariana: Capture The Enemy AI

Description:
8-12 players.
A friend (SS Zero Divide) and myself decided to make a cool High Ground variant, specifically for Territories. Best used with the default Territories gametype. The catch? All the territories are at Computer Terminals. (And yes, the AI is named Ariana.)

"Insertion Team Omega must capture the enemy AI from the computer network within the compound."
Bungie fans should like the theme of this one, if not the gameplay itself. :D

Forum Cops Gametype!

Description:
Pseudo-Banhammers and partial cloak, you are the few, the proud, the expendable. You are, the Forum Cops.

This one should be especially hilarious for you frequent B.net forum members. ;)

Washed Up

Description:
High Ground variant created as a collaborative Sniper Squad clan project. It's a new version of High Ground, with heavier weapons, different vehicles, and some new surprises. It actually plays wonderfully with 10-16 players. Lots of explosions, lots of death, and lots of fun!

"Once a thriving UNSC facility, now used for SPARTAN war-games and testing grounds for vehicle maneuverability."

Zomzibar! Infection Map!
(Last Resort Variant)
Players; As many as you can get. The more the better.
Gametype: Infection

Description: Survivors of a outbreak in New Mombasa fled to this safe haven, only to find it's nearly not as safe as they thought.

This level consists of the base on Last Resort, barricaded and fortified. With key choke points, various weaponry, and a single (read: never respawns) warthog for final getaways, or early slaughter. With enough entrances to keep the players on their toes, and enough blind spots for sneaky Zombies to get away with mischief, this map is perfectly balanced for defense and infiltration. The surviving players do best holding out in the base, with 3 turrets, and many players covering them.

I played this with a bunch of friends, it's a riot. I've actually scared myself with the spooky lighting inside the interior hallways. ;)

We tried to make it feel as "Zombie Safehouse" as we could. You should have a blast playing this. :D

Chiron CZ-25
(The Pit Variant)
Players: 2 - 10, any more and it gets pretty crowded.
Gametypes: ALL

Description:
Chiron CZ-25 is a complex matrix of teleporters, designed to test the SPARTAN combat reflexes in close quarters.

Yeah, we went there. We all know you loved this old one, and this new one is ... Well, just as .. Interesting, to say the least. Obviously we can't have the same layout, but all the teleporter madness is there. ;)

Epedimic: Infection Map!
(Epitaph Variant)
Players: As many as you can get
Gametypes: Infection

Description:
After the outbreak on the Ark, survivors fled to a remote facility in the desert, only to find it was not remote as they hoped.

This is really fun Zombie map placed on Epitaph, and following the theme of my other infection-based maps.

6 Feet Above: Infection Map!
(High Ground Variant)
Players: As many as you can get
Gametypes: Infection

Description:
During the outbreak in New Mombasa, most fled to this remote military base. It was only a matter of time before They caught up.

This is an AWESOME Zombie Fortress map, set on High Ground. Great base defense and beach area with evident thought to the backstory, very well balanced. Objects are not just randomly strewn about. They're accurately placed for maximum balance and infiltration/defense of the base. Give this one a try, it's one of my best Zombie maps. (Along with the others, that is!)

Paranoia: Infection Map!
(Isolation Variant)
Players: As many as you can get
Gametypes: Infection

Description:
After a Human-Covenant battle, the survivors are low on supplies. With only one day until Evac, an ungodly screech rings out.

When you're all alone, do you ever feel like someone is watching you? You may be right. This map is loads of fun, with multiple defendable positions and various entrances and exits to avoid the Zombie Horde. Although it can be played with any infection variant, normal speed/gravity Zombies and the like make it the most fun. Classic Zombies, if you will.

Gravesite: Infection Map!
(The Pit Variant)
Players: As many as you can get
Gametypes: Infection

Description:
Due to miscalculation, what was sheduled as a quick extermination op, quickly turns to a fight for survival against the undead.

To put it simply, without sugar coating and what-not, this is a Zombie variant for The Pit. I can't describe much about it, except that it has two bases set in the towers, and a few ways for the Zombies to get in. (even more if the Zombies are clever) As an Infection variant and all, use any Infection gametype. (Classic Zombies with no low grav and swords make it the most fun)

Thanks to Bungie for Forge. :D
It really makes some crazy stuff possible!

Death Rally

Death Rally is the name of the game variant and the custom map.

Map Details:

It's Last Resort with a facelift. I've used numerous blockades, crates and trailers(?) to create a custom course through which the racers will follow. Racers will use mongooses (mongeese?) to race. But, due to this, the racers' separate teams (2 teams) must open the gates and knock down the knock-downable bridge so that the racers can continue racing. Basically just follow the checkpoints and the racers will do fine. There are also quite a few respawn areas (no respawn points) with weapons which could come in handy, as well as a few weapons spread across the map.

Game Details:
Variant of VIP Escort

2 Teams
1 VIP per team

Each VIP is gold colored. They will drive their respective mongooses (again, mongeese?) around to the checkpoints, following the course as best as they can.
Each team is reponsible for keeping the path clear for their own VIP while trying to kill the other team's VIP. If the VIP for one team dies, then a random living person on that team suddenly becomes VIP and must continue the race (oh! Yeah, it gets tricky!)
Any teammate who is within 10 Meters of their VIP will gain extreme powers. They will suddenly be able to get instakills, they will probably not die, considering they've got overshields to the max and super recharge powers. But... the problem is they have to be within 10 meters (better use that passenger seat buddy).

I think I covered everything. Enjoy!
