I'm sure you guys have gotten many submissions of racetracks, especially on Valhalla, but mine seems to be considerably more popular than those I've seen, so I figured I'd submit.
(If downloads matter, the older version can be found at: 3933 Downloads!)
Now for the important part:
Map Variant: Mongoose Track
Game Variant: Singles Racing
The game variant is a VIP-variant with an integrated finishline for laps, and is set to three laps by my settings. Because it is a VIP-variant, if everyone wants to get credit for laps, they MUST be the VIP.
The track supports up to 8 players racing, and supports 16 if playing doubles. (If playing doubles, there are two people per team, and the VIP drives. The reason the VIP drives is while everyone starts with a plasma pistol, only people who are not VIPs have unlimited ammo, meaning you get more than 3-5 shots to stun your opponents. This is to prevent one person completely messing up a free for all race with unlimited ammo.)
The game spawns you within 5m of the starting line, indicated with a line of weapon holders, as well as two Mongooses already positioned and ready to race. The other 6 Mongooses are tucked into the wall in way that they are completely out of the way if you don't play with a full house. The variant comes with a 10 second destination movement which has gotten a few complaints because of the constant "Destination Moved" notifications that myself and my friends use to start out races, so set it to whatever works for you (I recommend 15 at the highest, unless you have an alternate method of starting the races, then 30 seconds is sufficient).
The track is very straightforward, as myself and those who helped me develop the map took great pains to make it raceable even on the first run through. And as a helpful hint, we marked the two jumps in the track with Custom Powerups on either side of the entrance to them, making them easily discernable. There is no special trick or compensation to be made between laps as the finish line and starting line are directly connected, meaning you just go straight through to the next lap. Also, beneath the two jumps are gravlifts which we tried to make as helpful as possible in getting you back into the race. The gravlifts are easy enough to use on the second jump, but the ones on the first jump require a bit of compensation on driver's end. (The jumps are easy to make though, so no worries unless you get hit with a plasma pistol bolt.)
Because this map was made about 3 weeks ago, there are a few things I noticed that could use a little non-essential tweaking (A boundary that disappeared in this newer version, slight movement of gravlifts to make things easier, and blocking off the bases because they weren't any problem until recently when one of my friend went in them.) I say this because, while the map is still easily playable, if this map is even CONSIDERED to be in the favorites, I'd appreciate notification prior to it being used so I could make those slight modifcations so that everyone gets the best playing experience. (I used this version rather than updateing it before post because it has been circulated a decent amount at 1500 downloads, so it doesn't look like I'm posting a map no one is intrested in.)
Also, because the VIP variant limits conversation to proximity only (unless Bungie decides to let that be customizable) we've also played the track in the regular slayer variant, where we tend to mess around more and taunt/laugh at each other. Its more recreational than anything, so just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone who may enjoy the map more that way. Otherwise good luck, and hope you enjoy!
