CANNON KING
The Map Variant is here.
The Gametype is here.
In Cannon King, the objective is to gain as many points in the time limit - as any other KOTH gametype is. The players spawn on the Blue side of the map by the Man Cannon, and the hill is on the Red side directly beneath the Man Cannon. The "twists" involved include Fusion Cores launched from the Red Man Cannon at players trying to reach the hill, and Grav Lifts positioned within the hill that intentionally launch a player in the hill into the Red Man Cannon, sending them back across the map (To summarize, when a player survives the aerial trek across the map, they gain a single point and are sent back to the starting area). Also, a player that enters the hill immediately loses their shield strength until they leave - this is a tweak initially intended to disprove players from "cheating", that is, standing in the hill racking up points. Players spawn only with their wits and a Magnum - for those one-shot kills on any "cheating" players sitting immobilized in the goal area.
The area around the hill by the Red Man Cannon is cordoned off with crates, and the playing field on the Blue side is also indicated with roadblocks positioned accordingly in order to maintain the idea of the game - one successful Man Cannon equals one point.
In the starting area on the Blue Side there are also several Mongeese positioned for immediate use, an Overshield to increase resistance to a Fusion Core blowing up in a player's face, two Trip Mines with moderate respawns that players can use, and a "hidden" Custom Powerup that adds extra shields that are not depleted upon passing through the hill. The Trip Mines are the only other equipment available to the players, and can be used however a player sees fit - they can throw them through the Man Cannon at enemy players or deploy them midair for a special "rebound" trick.
The game is best played as a Free For All and has been tested with at most eight players, and was quite a hectic but incredibly fun struggle for dominance. However any number of players can join the fun, and team games are best played in smaller group situations - such as 3-on-3 or 2-on-2-on-2. Lower players increases the stress on tactics and has still been rather enjoyable.
And for those who are interested, here's some screenshots; more to come very soon.
