Does anyone know how I can override Halo PC somehow and enable specular and shadow on my machine? I'm running a good computer... 2.4 gHz Pentium, GeForce4 MX440, 700+ Mb of RAM... I don't know what the problem is. It has those options ghosted, and I would really like to run them. Please respond to my e-mail address, mathguru@cox.net if you can help me out... thanx!

Go to the Maw.

These features are only supported by DX9-capbable cards. The GeForce 4 is a DX8 one, I believe. The only way to enable them really is to buy a new 3D card.

Even if you could, your machine wouldn't be able to run shadow effects or specular very well, and you'd notice a big decrease in performance. This is why it's a disabled option on your screen.

No, it's disabled because his machine can't. Well, it could, but only if Gearbox wrote their own code to emulate it, which would just be a waste of time and would impact heavily on performance.
