I'm not sure if this has been mentioned previously, but I was wondering whether anyone cared to see under MC's helmet. If Bungie revealed Chief's face, I think it would have a pretty big impact on the game. His enigmatic quality is appealing but at the same time I really want to know what he looks like, I don't fancy him or anything, but very little has been said about Him and it would be interesting to expand upon his character. He is the starring role, the leading man and we don't even know his real name or what ethnicity he holds. Maybe Bungie has its reasons; maybe they want to make him appeal to more players by being anonymous to race and age or maybe they're planning on doing a Seamus on us. Part of me hopes that we see him in Halo 2.

If its the last game in the series, as in DEFINATELY NO HALO 3 NO MATTER WHAT then they should work it into a final cutscene or something, but if there is still the possibility of Halo 3, or a prequel that would show him, then I don't really think it would be necessary.

I think it's important that Bungie tell us more about Master Chief as a game like Halo needs a strong lead character and although MC is one of the most inventive seen in recent years there doesn't seem to be any mental connection between him and the player, there's no emotive purpose.

Not flaming anyone intentionally, but why would it matter if you can see his face? It's not like seeing his face will make you play better... er.... is it? The trademark spartan helmet is instantly recognizable to people who didn't even play the game. The face of MC though, could get confused with that of Keyes and/or Mendez by outsiders. The face also would make MC seem more human, not as much a "mythical" warrior. Which, to me, is very very unappealing.

If it doesn't matter if you can see his face or not, why do Bungie tantalise us so much in the end sequence?

Part of why we don't see John, yet we get descriptions of the other Spartans like Kelly and the others is because he looks like YOU...since he's our avater in the Halo universe. We learn his history of the "character", how the Spartans we're created, the experiments, the losses, how they trained and grew up from when they were taken and replaced by clones by the UNSC. But we never get told of what he looks like as throughout everything, its from you're perspective (ok unless its poor lil Yayap or one of the Marines perspectives), as you're the character which the story is told around, and how you progress through the universe.

Sounds awefully like they described a game player to me :P But then again he was what? 6-7 at the time they described him there....he's just a "tad" older now :P
Either way, best we don't see his face.

I agree with nyadach to an extent, though the books seem like a cheap cash in. Are they any good?

Not to flame or anything, but these posts are really getting old. And, for the last time, we should not see his face and will not see his face.
Qoute from the 2002 EGM:
"'You'll definitely see more of Master Chief's personality,' says Lead Designer Jaime Griesemer,' but not his face. It's not like it's a big secret. We just want to keep the player empathizing with him, and giving him a face would inevitably alienate somebody.'"
