Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

I own a custom built PC with a 3.06 GHz Pentium 4, a GeForce 7600GT, as well as a Gig of RAM running dual channel.

When I first got the card, it ran Halo great, with a smooth 60fps and Vsync enabled. It ran great like that for a long time, now recently I've been running the game through DXTweaker to fix my active camo. Fraps reports that I don't get 60, and most of the time I don't even get 50, it hovers around the 30-40 range, except for brief moments when I go to 120fps and above. Then if I fire a gun or something like that, it lags down again.

Also when I enable Vsync in the game's menu, it doesn't force it. Instead my framerate shoots far above what it's supposed to, such as in the menus and such. Unfortunately this ran much better in Vista, right now I'm dual booting. Also I have the latest Forceware Drivers and Windows XP Home.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Sorry Vincent, not a clue :(

I turned the filter quality down to performance, and it seemed to work better.

Don't know how it got to high quality though.

I always set mine to "high performance". Most games with large textures look fine, it's just old games like Half-Life 1 that show obvious drops in quality.

I did the same thing in Vista, and my Halo 2 framerates jumped. I'll try "high performance" and see how it works.

Thinking of something witty to write here since 2004...

See if VSYNC isn't forced on in your card's settings and then try. I noticed that when I forced it off I got framerates into the 90's.

Well Ops that is pretty harsh. I think some people are more sensitive to the framerate than others. I find 30 FPS hard to follow. I need about 60 to be able to visually interpret what's going on.
