You guys just don't get it do you? YOU STILL HAVE HEALTH, JUST NO HEALTH BAR to indicate how much you have left... when your shield bar is empty, YOU ARE NOT YET DEAD. A couple more shots, then you're dead.

PUT A PIECE OF TAPE OVER YOUR HEALTH BARS THE NEXT TIME YOU PLAY HALO.

That's exactly how it's going to be. And sorry for all the CAPS.

Heres the big difference: You can't see your health, and your health takes less damage before dying. Someone also posted that Bungie said it regens. That is the only source I've seen of that, but I suppose its possible. Right now though many have confirmed the lowered health amount. Soooo there ya go.

ah comeon, just give me so arguments!
its reasonable that its harder to kill somebody that has health than somebody that doesnt!

example;

when gettin' hit by a grenade often your armor go's out and your healt is in yellow/red so without health your always dead with one grenade GET IT!

Or your all lacking intelligence and there will be a health bar, and you just refuse to beleive that it was a place holder bar, like bungie said.

They'll be a health bar, and you will all look like fools, muahah. Or maybe when your shields go, the shield bar simply turns into a health bar, which turns back into a shield bar when it recharges.

they could of easily put in a health bar in the e3 2004, why didnt they though????

BECAUSE THEY WERE TESTING HOW IT WOULD WORK WITHOUT IT.
Trust me, theres a chance it might stay out of the game.
While theres a chance that they will put it in. We'll have to wait and see.

Ah, not exactly, there was no HUD at all. They removed it because they turned health, ammo, and death off. Dying in the middle of the demo would not be good. I also don't trust people with IQs that equal their shoe size.

Or maybe I just look for the positives in why they would do such a move. I certainly don't -blam!- and moan about something so small. Removing the "bars" (A VISUAL CHANGE) is a good move, imo. At least when I think about it into relation to Halo. Play a no shield game with a piece of tape over your health bars. Then imagine that you can dual wield any single handed weapon.. Then see how pointless the VISUAL BARS are.

Lets see, you're playing coop online (this is a mighty ASSumption), and you and your partner have no "health packs". All you have is each other, and your shields. When one of you loses your shields, then you need to speak up, because you're as good as dead without 'em. And you have no health packs. Your partner and your teamwork is your new saving grace. I can only imagine how tense it would be online. Anytime my shields go down, I'll be freaking out and screaming to my teamates for some backup, or suppression fire, or something.

errm.....what the hell are you talking about???

I believe that were talking about the 2004 e3 demo (not the campaign playthrough! the multiplayer) The multiplayer had an armour bar but not a health bar thats what we were talking about!

You NEED health bars. Removing them was a temporary move, everyone has said so. Without them you would not know whether to take more caution when moving or even take cover. They did not remove the health meter, it may look different, but it will be back, not having it there is just idiotic.

I'm dyslexic, I thought it said 3. Anyway...they removed it because the HUD was not done, and they wanted as much killing as possible to happen during the three minute rounds. It's in the FAQ. Also, why would an upgraded version of the armor not have a health meter, in a roleplaying setting it makes no sense. It's an energy shield bar, not armor.

When your shields are DOWN, thats when you takecover. You dont need health bars at all! Thats why bungie decided to test the MP without it.

but the armour creates the shields. Its basically the same thing....

No, it's not why they decided to test MP without it...they said why it was like that in the FAQ for Halo 2. Also, if I should take cover when my shields are down, it would take me alot longer to beat Halo.

The HUD and most of the game UI shown at E3 this year were just place holder and are subject to change and revision between now and launch.
.

There.

That is what your shields are for. I can see bungie didn't get this through to some gamers on the first go round.

..And I don't "need" anything. I'm always willing to roll.

Everyone, read this, this is an official statement from someone who played it at E3. Ive already posted it before but OBVIOUSLY no one read it

First, there are no longer health bars. (However, this like everything else design related, is still up for internal Bungie debate.) Instead, when your shields pop you can survive a further two or three hits before you die. In my hour of playing, I never noticed this change affecting how I played the game. In fact I dare say that if you weren’t looking for it, you’d never notice it yourself.

Marty O’Donnel explained to me that this change was discussed and implemented because of the way so many of us played Halo 1. Think about how whenever you got hurt, you’d slow down and wait for your shields to recharge. The only change to the shield system were the new special effects seen when they pop and reactivate. Both are visible in first person to you, and in third person to all the hungry sob's waiting to kill you.
