Maturity may not be completely based on age... but developtment of the brain and social skills usually are, as you can see from a few of your statements. Being "proud of" your age? You do realize your age is constantly changing... and its not exactly an achievement.

Also, if you really want to get the dictionary involved in your little debate... maturity has many meanings, including age. When someone or something reaches its physical growth peak, it has matured. Would you argue that maturity does not, in a variety of ways, include age?

this guy has it down pat and KinGvAcE i tough this was especiallye funny "You do realize your age is constantly changing... and its not exactly an achievement." lol i can just picture it you turned 21 *pops up on screen* 100 Gamerscore - you are mature Achievment *Pop*

I'm 17, I have no problem with younger people playing games, hell I've been playing games like Resident Evil and GTA since I was 8-9 (something like that) but like you said with maturity, alot of the younger ones just don't act mature at all, but those that do, I can get along with fine.

No such thing as a mature 14 year old unless your homeland is ravaged by famine, pestilence, plague and death.

Or if you survived the streets while raising a brother and/or sister.

There are SOME mature 13-17 year olds of course. However I think you guys are in the minority.

Every night I get on I have to either hear some 12 year old with ADHD scream into his mic. Up to some 15 year old making annoying sounds into their mike, talking about smoking weed, or smack talk before/after matches. I've almost come to the point of muting everytone that has a mic on just so I don't get annoyed.

I'm 37.....which may be why I get schooled live, lol. Don't have the l ninja like reflexes of youth....

Personally I'm 33, but I play with my 11 year old son and my 8 year old daughter, but they don't get mic's and the TV is turned down. If my son plays without me, he's not allowed to speak on the mic but he can listen on the headset. My daughter will never play without me. Oh and no matter what my wife and I are always in the room when the XBox is on.

30, and finding myself no longer wondering why the majority of posters on these forums cannot spell worth -blam!-. Seriously, a poll with an option for 15, 16, 17, and then 18+ because it's all the same? try:

Under 18
19-25
26-30
31-40
+40

You kids have no ground to stand on saying there are discernible life differences between a 16 yr old and a 17yr old besides getting your 2nd speeding ticket.

Don't get down because of your age just confess we all are humans we all have been through different age groups.

Not true and patentley absurd. . I haven't been though my 70s yet. You haven't even gotten through puberty yet.

I am 13 and proud of it,
Why? What have you done that was so difficult that you should have pride in making 13? Was it really that difficult for you? What obstacles did you have to overcome, and how did you overcome them?

if don't like it then get the -blammity- out of this thread. Get out your kneepads and lip balm, Nancy.

Maturity does NOT depend on age.
Yeah actually, it does. There is a reason we don't see a lot of 9 year olds as CEOs or race car drivers.

Says so in the dictionary, 4.pertaining to or characteristic of full development. Do you see an age specified in that sentence, no.
It is implied, not spelled out. See? Your inability to percieve content and subtext is a diplay of your lack of mental and scholastic MATURITY. You haven't been doing this life thing long enough. Furthermore, your brain's physical development has not been completed yet. That takes to about age 25 in most people. See? there is that temporal aspect again. Interesting, huh? Ever wonder why your parents won't let you have a gun collection? That's why.

dude, chill, man. Give the kid a break. He had a point with the "maturity does not depend on age" issue. I am 14 and I have seen older people that are less mature than I am, and I've even seen younger people who I consider to be more mature than I am. I understand that many younger kids don't have the capacity to "percieve content," as you mentioned, but don't drag the smart ones down with them. I find it to immature of you to place such a stereotype on younger people. It is implied, not spelled out. See? Physical maturity, for the most part, is irrelevant. Also, you don't need to have been living for 30 years to understand and enjoy a game like halo with maturity. Who are you do make such a discriminating and insensitive claim? I also think that letting a younger person play a video game is just a little bit different than giving them an array of lethal weapons.

Great literature reference. Do you think there are exceptions? Born warriors, that are build with no reluctance to kill other human beings for "state or military" reasons?

I have no problem with kids that can be polite and play the game like an adult.
What i do have a problem with is kids that has to cheat, glitch, smacktalk, play music into the mic, scream like they have ADHD and being rude to other people.
People under 17 shouldn't be playing this game anyways, it's just like Alcohol or cigarettes, or even taking a driver's license.
The age limit is htere because younger people are either not mature enough to fully understand the consequnces of thier actions, too young so that their bodies can not handle the toxins, or doesn't have the proper education to handle such things.
Why should this not apply to a game where you are killing people in quite brutal ways? (brutal by Real life standards)

i agree, but, i dont agree on the younger ones not being able to play the game.its rated M so you have to be 17+ to buy it, but not play it. i bought it for my little brothers and there 9 and 10,there smart enough to know the violence in the game are fake and that its wrong to do in real life, i just think its wrong to hold them back from the world of halo and all the fun that it brings just because there younger.

Certainly your judgement must be far sharper than mine...nah. I have a LOT of experience in a lot of things, and you don't. I have been placed in positions of trust more times than I have desired. Your parents are happy if you make your bed. Sorry man, but you need at least another 10 years under your belt befre your judgement about anything is worth a damn.

Understand, I do know where you are coming from. I was managing a nice restaurant at 17. I had employees twice my age, and man, they hated me for it, but they couldn't do what i could do, and that was the bottom line.

I understand that many younger kids don't have the capacity to "percieve content," as you mentioned, but don't drag the smart ones down with them.
Intelligence isn't a factor here for the most part, it is simple savvy.

I find it to immature of you to place such a stereotype on younger people.

This isn't about sterotype, this is about not having enough frames of reference derived from experience.

Physical maturity, for the most part, is irrelevant.

Bull. The full physical maturity of the human brain isn't reached until a person hits their early 20s.

Also, you don't need to have been living for 30 years to understand and enjoy a game like halo with maturity.
No, but it helps.

Who are you do make such a discriminating and insensitive claim?
I am a guy with waaaay more life experience and wisdom than you or the little pink monkey that made the thread, that's who I am. I have lived on four continents, been in combat zones, delivered infants, gotten a doctorate, loved good women, and killed bad men. How about you? What have you done? Where have you been? Who are you to criticize me? By what, and with what, authority do you speak to me?

I also think that letting a younger person play a video game is just a little bit different than giving them an array of lethal weapons.
You really need to read Grossman's On Killing.
