dude, chill, man. Give the kid a break. He had a point with the "maturity does not depend on age" issue. I am 14 and I have seen older people that are less mature than I am, and I've even seen younger people who I consider to be more mature than I am.
Certainly your judgement must be far sharper than mine...nah. I have a LOT of experience in a lot of things, and you don't. I have been placed in positions of trust more times than I have desired. Your parents are happy if you make your bed. Sorry man, but you need at least another 10 years under your belt befre your judgement about anything is worth a damn.
Understand, I do know where you are coming from. I was managing a nice restaurant at 17. I had employees twice my age, and man, they hated me for it, but they couldn't do what i could do, and that was the bottom line.
I understand that many younger kids don't have the capacity to "percieve content," as you mentioned, but don't drag the smart ones down with them.
Intelligence isn't a factor here for the most part, it is simple savvy.
I find it to immature of you to place such a stereotype on younger people.
This isn't about sterotype, this is about not having enough frames of reference derived from experience.
Physical maturity, for the most part, is irrelevant.
Bull. The full physical maturity of the human brain isn't reached until a person hits their early 20s.
Also, you don't need to have been living for 30 years to understand and enjoy a game like halo with maturity.
No, but it helps.
Who are you do make such a discriminating and insensitive claim?
I am a guy with waaaay more life experience and wisdom than you or the little pink monkey that made the thread, that's who I am. I have lived on four continents, been in combat zones, delivered infants, gotten a doctorate, loved good women, and killed bad men. How about you? What have you done? Where have you been? Who are you to criticize me? By what, and with what, authority do you speak to me?
I also think that letting a younger person play a video game is just a little bit different than giving them an array of lethal weapons.
You really need to read Grossman's On Killing.
