well about 2 years ago i moved to a different state, and im now moving back to where i used to live, and for my return i plan on holding a 30+ halo tournament. but i was told by the local game store owner that i have to get permission to do so by bungie. is this true? if so, what would i do to get permission to hold a halo tournament? oh and im planing to make it 5 dollars a person so that i can pay first place ect and pay "rent" to the game store owner for use of his store.

(oh and am i posting this in the right forum??)

That sounds like a bunch of B.S. to me. I'm fairly sure you wouldn't need permission from Bungie, that just sounds dumb.

People throw touraments all the time and I doubt that they're all getting permission from Bungie. But I am no expert ,and money being involed might changed things, but as long as you're not standing to make a profit I don't see how there would be any foul. The store owner might be screwing with you b/c he doesn't want to rent out his store. Try a V.F.W. hall or something.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

No, you do not need permission from Bungie to hold a Halo tournament, even if you are charging admission.

I don't think you need a permission either, that sounds rather foolish, i mean if you hold a Halo 3 tournament for civil ppl you are just marketing the game, so bungie makes a profit of it.

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

Foman is like a lawyer person or something, so if anyone knows here it would be him.

well the game store owner was somewhat right. i just called microsoft and i was told its fine to hold a tournament (despite the size) as long as the tournament isnt mass advertised (such as radio or news paper) but as long as i dont put it into the local media they dont care

(oh i was planing to put it into the news papers but im not now lol)

The best way I've found for advertising is places like supermarkets, record stores and campuses. Places people have to go to and go to frequently.
